- Thanks for watching my review and demo of the Schecter Hellraiser C-VI Baritone! This baritone is insane, with its 30 inch scale length it's the biggest 6-string baritone that I've ever played! Let's dive in with the specs and some riffs/tones! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

If you were to get a baritone, what would your preferred scale length be?
I found that 27"/28" to be pretty comfortable, I have a SRC6 (The original not MS) and that is 30", after a while I found I was not so keen and was going to my Jericho 27" more often.
I have a 27" and a 30", both are great for different tunings and styles, think I prefer the 27" overall though, feels more like a guitar, less than a short scale bass with too many strings.
28.5 is perfect
730 mm, because metric is better
Probably 27"~28" that seems to be the standard for baritone guitars. BTW Schecter has a bass VI model, the Hellcat VI at 30"
The name needs to be either the giraffe or the brontosaurus
Hahaha!
Baritontosaurus!
Hahaha hilarious
Ordered one immediately after watching this. It's EXACTLY what I've been looking for! Great review!!
Awesome! Enjoy!
Flawless victory. Tasty jams. Schecter never disappoints.🍻
Excellent demo and playing as always! And I would honestly consider looking into these, I started loving recently how just E standard sounds when layered with an octave lower (usually using a pedal/plugin so far) and I wondered how that would sound with this, but also it looks and sounds awesome and fun to just play by itself. I also love 7-strings, but also completely agree with the sentiment that a baritone 6 just *feels* different and different things just come out while playing.
And yeah, I have two Schecters, they're great.
Loved the demo! Very cool and giving me the itch for a baritone or 7-string...appreciate the great content as always!
Thanks!
Super good demo... and really nice performance on your clean tones composition.
Really amazing video as always. This guitar is a real beauty. Your right about staying around F really retains a super crystal clean super lows. That second demo is super nostalgic. Absolutely loved it. I'd love to hear a solo project with some singing. Your music is so good
These things were so ahead of their time. I remember being kinda bummed it wasn't an affordable 27" option because there weren't any on the market back then besides the Mushok PRS.
You slayed with that baritone foo! 🤘🏼🎸🗣️ Seriously ! The cleans sound gorgeous & I'm already in love with Schecter Guitars. I own a 7 omen elite & a 8 omen elite going to keep my eye out on the used market for the C VI. I need a 30 inch beast in my life
Amazing quality from Schecter. Monstrous tones paired with the Fireball.
Most definitely! Love my ENGLs!
Your songs are always so earworm-y. 😁
I hope that's a good thing? Haha
For the past two decades I have been the proud owner of an original Schecter Diamond Series C-1 Plus in black cherry. It has a 24-3/4" scale length neck with 24 medium size frets. It is an excellent guitar for drop C tuning. This modern version C-VI is very intriguing to me. Excellent review. Thank you for sharing.
John. This will be my next guitar. It has been on my radar for 24 months plus. 😎😎😎🤘🏻
Get it!
Congratz my friend! I use the Ernie Balls baritone strings with it which are a bit closer to "normal" size. Have fun!
That thing is super nice. Sounds great to me. I am a sucker for abalone. I actually love the dated 2002 Schecter look. I have several and they have never let me down. This is my next guitar.
Dude, I really like your guitar-song-writing-skills. There is something to it :) like when I listen to Rabea Massaad but not so far way ;) Greatings from Germany
Danke! :)
Very underrated guitar, it definitely deserves more attention
I'd love to see a 27.5- 29" multiscale version. Alas, the hellraisers are dying, though.
Damn this sounded good! I guess my wishlist has a new guitar on the top. :-)
Damn, this guitar is exactly what I'm looking for, I own the Schecter Damien Platinum 9 (it's my only guitar) and I'm looking for a guitar that isn't as extremely wide at the neck as the Schecter Damien Platinum 9.
Sick.
lekker lekker!
Lekker he
Jon, Thank you for this video! I would be interested to see a video showing your recording process and what computer you are using. I know you use Cubase and Steven Slate audio products...."Keep Doing That Voodoo That You Do!" 🤘
Fuck me lord that tone
Great sound! Great looks.... Maybe its too pretty to be called hellraiser....☺ i've thought about building a 30 incher but so far i've only made it up to 27....and a lot of 666's.
Is there any chance of putting all the demo songs of the channel together on a single video? The would be perfect for lifting weights
Desperately need a head-to-head between this, the updated multi-scale Schecter version, and the Solar 29"
There's not an updated multi scale version of this guitar AFAIK?
@@SonicDriveStudio you're right, I had it confused with the 30-inch Ibanez SRC6 and updated SRC6MS.
Jon, I would be remiss if I didn't bring up the one glaring item. What did you use for the dampening above the nut?
Some foam rubber
Can you compare this guitar vs 7 or 8 strings with the same tuning?
Longer scale length + thinner strings = better tone
Can you tell us more about the elixir strings? What are the gauges ?
Standard Elixir Baritone set but I replaced the .22 with a .24
When will we get a full video on that 7 Pheonix ???
It's out already!
I have one 27 inch baritone and I find it a bit harder to play. On the other hand I have a seven string standard scale and an Evertune. I much prefer that. Both are tuned in Drop A. That said, I've always wanted a Bass VI.
It's all about personal preference
First demo as giving off some huge bad omens vibes.
Where'd you get it? Doesn't look like Schecter is currently making these. 30" baris are the best!
Thomann
Do you think that a "reverse headstock" design makes any significant difference regarding string tension and tone?
Don't know tbh
Scale length is the distance from the nut to the bridge. Headstock length doesn't add tone or tension.
@@darlyngton_nyc String Length is the distance from the "fixed points" where the string is tied down, the tuners and the somewhere past the saddles. That does affect string tension.
@@picksalot1 yeah those fixed points are the nut and the bridge, not the tuners and beyond.
@@darlyngton_nyc Actually, those are just just "pinch points" not unlike frets. They are not fixed in the sense of where the strings tie to, which determines "string length. The nut and saddles determine Scale Length.
Here are a few online articles you might what to check out about how string length affects string tension:

Basically a Satan possesed bass VI. Neat!
For a bartione, I feel that the tone in the demo didn't have enough definition in the low end. Was this a creative choice in the mixing process? I am not familiar with those pickup, but I know that amp. If the mid boost was on, that could have been the reason the tone was too mid focused. All subjective but just my opinion.
I dialed the tones in exactly how I like em. A little bit of beef in the tone is good.
If you picked 1 guitar between the LTD sc-608 or this schecter, which would you pick?
Depends on the mood and how many strings you want etc. Just a different type of guitar
@SonicDriveStudio I Own a Iron Label 28" baritone Ibanez with emg's, it gets pretty damn low. I still really like that schecter though. I think between the sc608 and a 28" baritone is low enough for me I guess...
The longer the neck, the more clear and bell-like the tone is at the same tuning. It’s also better with intonation as you tune lower and lower. If you’re trying to tune to E, you will be happiest with a 30” scale. I own a 28” baritone. It does fine with F standard, but I wish it was longer so the tone would be more clear.
@@mattwhite399 Thanks for the input. I May pull the trigger on this Schecter.....
@@Bigfatriffmaker the only reason I didn’t buy it (embarrassing to admit) - I have another 6 string schecter that looks the exact same).
how is the neck dive?
Wish it came in other finishes
Yeah that would be cool. I guess that's tough when it's such a niche instrument
did the neck feel to long and what tuning is this in
Maybe we found the Joey DeMaio Signature
The Beatles used the BassVI on multiple albums for a reason.
For the brutal chugs
@@SonicDriveStudio John played it on Helter Skelter I think, so yeah! :D
Does it Wonderwall??
Well, yes!
@@SonicDriveStudio 😆
I think for the money Id rather get a 29" solar. same price but an ebony board, evertune, and passive pickups
I enjoy your reviews and riffs. However, the audio and video don't seem to be in sync when your talking; it sorta resembles old japanese movies.
Weird, it's perfectly in sync here
As a bass player, I just found out why I have never liked guitars - their necks are too short! On a a 30 inch neck guitars finally correct and right! Other bass players please tell me if I am right or wrong.
Tom Sisson
today more than 27.5 inch is nonsense to me ...... more and it will fuck your shoulder ... and neck diving will be crazy . Congrats schecter to the 27,5 inch PT signature of Meegs rascon of coal chamber .
A seven-string version would be perfect.
not really a baritone ,its a bass VI which is its own thing
He mentions that at 5:45
Dunno, your 6th string sounds muddier than mine, maybe you should've used overdrive pedal to boost/compress the signal. Out of your er-guitars, m80m and sc608b sound clearer than this. Situation is I also have all three of them and C-VI way sharper/sparklier than others.
Sounds fine to me, I like it like this but you can dial it in to sound any way you like of course! I guess for this guitar, this time around anyway, I prefer more beefy tones
so,...it's a piccolo bass 🥳
You know what they say about guitars with long scales????????????????????
.

Long strings.
Wait, no bass or harp jokes?
@@SonicDriveStudio No, that is reserved for 7 or 8 string guitars ONLY. Its the rules.
