  • Thru hiking the Continental Divide Trail, this is my hiking documentary of a successful thru hike of the Continental Divide Trail.
    bikehikesafari.com/hiking-the...
    The CDT travels through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana. Many people consider hiking the Continental Divide Trail as one of the hardest thru hikes in the world. While it is hard, there are many hard trails around the world. It took 5 months to complete the thru hike. The CDT is 3100 miles long.
    This is the second video on my hiking journey to complete the hiking triple crown.
    My name is Brad, on the hiking trails I'm known as Shepherd.
    Make sure you subscribe to this channel, more adventure travel videos are coming soon. I am bicycle touring around the world and thru hiking all the best hiking trails in the world.

      Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately, when I hiked the PCT and CDT I didn't really have a plan to make videos so they are lacking in comparison. The Appalachian Trail video is the first one where I had a plan to make a video.

    You amazed me again! The intricate beautiful details and colors and your ability to capture so much with your camera. The stunning views... the wild life... Ick pooh the snakes and porcupine.... how daring you are to be so close and intimate with such dangerous predators... I will continue to follow your hiking quests... I have to find the next video to this one... keep safe... and loved the scene in your Reebok skivies in the water!!!! LOLOL I think you did that just to tantalize the ladies! Your friends were hilarious... the one ... cracked me up laughing every time he would fall deeply through the snow yet he was carrying snow shoes on his back... what a silly goose! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!

    That was very interesting my brother did the Continental Divide Trail I think in 1990 I know he did the Appalachian Trail in 86 he told us stories about the trail but of course in 1990 he didn't have video of it so this was very enjoyable kind of got to see what my brother endured Through Your Eyes and by the way my brother is doing great he is 56 now lives in Gainesville Georgia and he also did the Pacific Crest Trail I don't know exactly when might have been 93 thanks

      Cheers Brad, it will be a completion of the triple crown for me and a long odyssey that began on the AT in 2004. The Bibbulmun Track is a really sweet trail, I think, and the closest we have to the US long trails in design and culture. It's also easy and relaxing after all that high altitude stuff you're into.... 😀. I'd recommend.

      Christopher Seba I find that most UA-cam hiking channels that are editing and posting their thru hikes as they hike are all rather boring. That’s just me. Most give up after a while because it’s a lot of work and takes time to upload. So a lot fail to enjoy the hike as a result. I only edit my hikes afterwards cause it’s a lot of work. It’s not the stuff that you add to the video but the stuff you cut out that makes it worth watching. Instead I wrote a blog about my hike. The link is in the description fir the video. Much easier to do a written blog, in my opinion.

      BikeHikeSafari how do you rate our 3 long distant trails? If you could only pick one, which one would it be?

    • @bikehikesafari
      @bikehikesafari  6 років тому

      If only picked one trail it would be the PCT, it is easier than the other trail and has a great variety of landscapes. bikehikesafari.com/hiking-the-pacific-crest-trail/
      However, the scenic highlights on the CDT are even better than the PCT, but the trail isn't finished yet and there is a bit of road walking which is still ok.

    How well marked is the trail?

    • @bikehikesafari
      @bikehikesafari  5 років тому

      It's not marked very well. A combination of maps and GPS track are necessary to hike the trail. I was geographically misplaced in numerous occasions. Luckily it was easily fixed and I never really got lost.

    I fully intend on thru hiking without the ridiculous looking ski pole thingys.

      I thought that on my first thru hike, when I used the poles I found I wasn't as tired. Personal choice.

    I seriously don't understand how you navigate and stay on trail unless you have a garman and can navigate through it

    You've done half of the trail. You should finish the rest before you've said you've done it.

      @@bikehikesafari They might be Mexican gray wolves which are smaller than other wolves in North America. They're endangered and pretty rare though.

    In the next seven years everyone and I mean everyone on earth is going to have to sacrifice to save the earth as it has been. This is not a goal to save the earth for our children this is a goal to save the earth for ourselves. This is emergency time... I AM 79 years old and my plan is to die before I become a real drag on everything around me.
