that brought tears to my eyes. You sir, are LIVING! Thanks for sharing your journey. Peace
Woooh. Epic. With that early start and this year's snow levels you basically walked on snow the whole way. Respect.
Thank you. The snow made it one hell of a hike.
Dude, I watch this all the time!
Great video, makes me wanna uproot and thru hike right now
I didn't want it to end.....Epic
Just finished your video. We actually met in Montana. I was that asian dude at Benchmark Ranch
Of course, I remember you! I hope your hike went well.
benchmark was awesome! such nice people and I finally got to take a shower.
😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Absolutely breath taking. I was planning PCT for 2020. Now I am in doubts.. :-)
I’ve watched this about 50 times. Magnificent.
Wonderful! Thank you! You’ve watched it more than me then 😉
Awesome. Still love seeing sll that land we haven't screwed up yet. Followed "Wired" Erin when she hiked the CDT and I know alot of this is tough, unmarked trail and looks like you had just a ton of snow days. Brutal but amazing I'm sure. Lots of real long solo sections for you and you gotta be strong. Lots of respect man, Peace, Wheelchair John in Idaho :)
Thank you!
Hell of a trip Kid. Thanks for taking us along.

Incredible! Footage was stunning, thanks for sharing.
Incredible hike! Thanks for sharing that gorgeous grandeur with us.
Truly an epic video my friend. Thank you so much for sharing. Awesome photography. You have a great eye for the beauty and magnitude of the CDT. Be safe out there. 🤗
Ronald, thank you for the kind words. It was an incredible trail and I loved being able to share the sights with others.
Thanks for keeping the video short. Not easy compressing 4 month in a few minutes
It was a challenge cutting it down without leaving great parts out! Such a diverse trail.
every solo hike you do , you step one level up in higher consciousness and reality of this universe
Jimbo powermeowww lol no
john williams Why not?

Crazy early ... and crazy beauty ! Congrats and thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It was an amazing trail.
I love the cut you did and the music you have chosen
Total respect, that was a brutal and lonely adventure. Congrats and thanks for sharing your journey with us.
G'day from Australia 👣🇦🇺🐢💚
Did you see any dangerous wildlife while on this hike? Black bears or Wolves?
I saw three black bears, and one grizzly bear!
Congrats!
Lovely video
Thank you!
Thank you!
Best hiking video I have seen. Thanks for putting it together.
Thank you, Steve!
I'm planning to do the CDT in 2021 and man this brought tear to my eyes. So beautiful and I can't wait to see it myself.
I enjoyed watching your video Candlemaker. I enjoyed hiking the AT with you the year before. Your friend, Christmas Tree
Thank you, sir! Yes, I enjoyed our time shared on the AT as well. I hope you are well. It's good to hear from you.
I just finished up a video of my AT thru-hike and stumbled across this. So awesome man! Super well made. That trail looks spectacular.
You're vides are stunningly beautiful. Well done Tim.
Morgan Freeman should have narrated this
Give up your day job. This is ! Your calling..
It was an incredible journey! By God’s grace, following Jesus is my calling!
My favorite shot was Easter sunrise service.
Im a former PCT Hiker. Trail Name-Dallas. I have to say I love your video. Im doing the CDT this year and I can't wait. You keep trekking.
Best of luck on your CDT thru! Thanks for the kind words.

Beautiful Videolog / Story ... 2 thumbs up for the epic mix of M83
Great video man, love the music...its God music. Thank you for sharing.
Marvellous. Completely fucking spectacular. Totally lost my shit at the end. Bravo.
Home!
Epic video! I've watched it 3 times. How did the that tent and ground cover workout for you? Thanks
Thank you! The MLD Doumid worked very well for me! Overall, I loved it during the many diverse conditions and elements of the trail.
Wonderful video guys. I think I’m loving the look of the CDT over the AT and PCT. is it normal to be snowing April? That really puts a different spin on the Hike. Thank you for sharing and happy trails 👣👣
Absolutely wonderful, and I love the music. When's your next hike?
Love your music man! kinda epic heroic style :D Grats u made it!
Thank you!
Amazing hike and amazing video. Impressive snowmanship, even for a Minnesotan. Quarantine viewing!
Thanks! I love the humble stance and beautiful landscapes
Yay, I am so HAPPY to find this friend! It's Brave (AT) !! Love this and hope you are well, thanks for the inspiration. Hugs!
Thank you for sharing, I never tire of its beauty.
Nicely done. That's quite a leap from the AT to the CDT with such an early start (and finish!). Brought tears to my eyes. I hated your "homecoming" until I saw the dog....
Whelp the algorithm suggested this to me 5 years on.....fantastic video. Beautifully edited and spot on music accompanying it. A belated congrats on a wonderful video and thru hike
Really loving your video. I have struggled to document long tails in a way that feels real to the experience, and really like what you're doing here.
But my reason for commenting: I'm leaving for a NOBO CDT this year and I'm curious why you started your hike so early in the season. Seems like a lot of fighting through snow and cold.
Thank you! Looking back, I'd document it differently and create another video that isn't all highlights (there were plenty of not so great moments and the video doesn't show that)...
Lol (1.) I needed to be in my hometown for the month of August and starting in March was the only way to make it home in time. (2.) I wanted an experience that would truly be unique and would take me to the end of myself.... Those were just two of many reasons I started when I did.
This was incredible to watch. Completing thing would make me feel as if I could die happily.
Before spring hiking the CDT ?,! Ice picks, shoe shoes..... I look at those vast mountains, above 9,000 feet and think --Yikes !,!, Hypothermia, frost bite... how did you ward it off ? Some of your speeches (?) seemed like , were either for epic effects ? Hey that was a pretty hard core journey at that time of the year, and so quick . Also... personally, I teared up seeing your Dad meet up with you for his short visit...if it was me, I would have needed it by that time, to have my cheering section lift my spirits. That was a good call on his part. 😎
I’ve watched this video half a dozen times, and linked it to friends even more. I think it was the first CDT video I watched, but still the best. Noticeably the best edited and put together, by a long way.
I’d like to find myself doing one of those triple crown thru hikes in that country of yours one day.
Any new hikes or videos in the works? Hope you’re doing well.
Thank you for your support and encouragement to continue to produce videos. Jon, if you have the opportunity to do one of the hikes, take it. It is an incredible journey/learning experience/memories... I was out west tramping around for two weeks in August and have yet to compile a video, hopefully can make it soon! Happy hiking - Tim
Tim Bloemendaal, looking forward to it. I’ve set myself up for notifications!
Just one word. supberb😀
Nice editing! (I think my previous comment did not get through.)
Beautiful, US you have a very gorgeous wilderness to see.
Watched this 3 years ago. Still gives the same chills. Good for you man. Way to persevere
Just finished my a.t I can't wait!
great video and awesome M83 soundtrack! By the way, did you know your surname is the name of a village in The Netherlands? just saying ...
Even as I can’t imagine how brutal and hard it must have been at times - it looks even more epic! What a journey, thank your for taking us along!
One of my favorite hiking videos. Thanks for the inspiration!
It is a good thing that I hate cold and snow... that keeps me from thru-hiking something else than the AT. Great video, so much beauty on this trail.
perfect caption whit m83 song die to the song and die and son on.... if i listen to that sing i watch this video and find that part when you hike over the mountain passes and snow.............. so interlinked whit the song and the journey
Congrats! Just finished the AT, and since I live out in Seattle, thought I would do the PCT next. But I think I might save it for last. The CDT looked beautiful! I did about 1000 miles of the AT alone, so I am cool with that, but what's your feeling on the CDT, if you did it again (for the first time) would you go NOBO or SOBO? - Thanks! - Too Clean
Thank you! I enjoyed going NOBO and I would likely go NOBO again if it were my first time but start in May... This being said, if I were to ever do it a second time, I would likely go SOBO and start around July 1 depending on the level of snow in Glacier.
WOW!! this is great!
Looks like a great trip, but man, snow :)
Never hiked before - how can you tell where you're going when there is snow cover? There's actually a lot of places where the path isn't clear. How the heck do you navigate?
Such an amazing video! My son will be hiking the CDT this year and this gives me some perspective on what he will experience. Thank you so very much. Congrats on your hike.
Thank you! Best of luck to your son, Denise. It's an amazing journey and I'm sure he appreciates your support.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ awesome great job 👍🏽
Thank you!
AWESOME is an understatement!!! Thank you for sharing your journey with the world.
Thanks for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Thank you for this. What a journey.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience

EPIC journey! Incredible!
beautiful video!! I have to go next!!!
Cool video Tim! I thur hiked the CDT NOBO in 2016 and I could remember so many of those spots in all the states! My favorite trail out of the Triple Crown! I think we used the same shelter...MLD Dou MID? Happy Trails! Bandit
Thank you, sir. I'm glad the video could spur lots of memories. It was an incredible trail. Yes sir, MLD Dou MID.
Amazing great work truly inspiring, I've only done 2-3 day hikes Sierras and Utah mostly Sierras are my backyard though. Hope to see doing the PCT or JMT taking us along with you, I'll be doing a 7 day thru hike of the HST next year again thanks for the inspiration brother
Enjoy the hiking!
Everytime this gives motivation. Great job.
Beautiful video man. Looks like you had an amazing trip. Thank you for sharing
Thank you! It was a brutal yet beautiful journey.
Perfect video! I love this!
So beautiful. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing, what an amazing trip and what for amazing Pictures. One day i hope i'll have the chance to hike one of the three big ones in the US. Until then please continue to make Videos Like this...to keep me hungry;)
The hardest part is leaving comfort and taking the first step. I simply say, create the opportunity.
GOOD STUFF IM DOING THE AT IN A COUPLE MONTHS....
Nice to see the view from a NOBOs perspective. I did it SOBO this year and had zero snow the deal with. Hard to believe this is the same trail
SOBO is the standard then? Did you take any snow equipment with you at all? When did you start?
SOBO used to be the preferred direction on the CDT according to past hikers. It's only been recently that NOBO has taken over. I took an ice axe and micro spikes in Glacier but never used it. I started June 29th
When did you finish?
Any idea why NOBO has taken over? Seems to me, judging from the snow alone, SOBO would be a no brainier.
Check out Sie's channel, he answers pretty much any question you could think of and has a lot of follow up videos!
Well done video. Congrats on the hike. Please, one gear question-what is the brand of your tent?
Thank you. The tarp I used was a Doumid 5.5x9 by Mountain Laurel Designs. 18oz. The guy line tie-outs are all custom length and custom knots.
Great video! Great journey!!
Hi Tim, what are the names of the songs on this video? They’re all great especially the first one! I’ve spent a lot of time in the San Juan’s and they’re breathe taking. Yet so unforgiving and a beautiful creation. Great video that I’m definitely going to share
Wait, I just read the description... oops! Thanks so much! Great job and what a beautiful video and experience
epic. the san juans terrify me. you're a trooper. though you got all that snow in the beginning that turned into so many flowers after. looks like just the most beautiful scenery and life. amazing job man
Thank you! The San Juans were brutal, to say the least.
thank you for sharing your adventure!
Wow you just made me feel like a wimp! I should hit Colorado about May 20th and was worried about getting there to soon. Awesome video!
lol, we both were probably getting there too soon.
From missoula great video Tim very well made.
First time I’m seeing your channel, wondering what jacket you’re wearing. It seems to be keeping you warm quite well
The blue jacket is the VERSALITE JACKET MEN'S by Montbell. Since I bought it, it has been changed a little it appears, but highly recommend! The down jacket, black one, is the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer. I would usually wear a base layer from North Face, long sleeve, from the Summit Series. A few pieces of gear pricey, but have lasted two thru hikes and have been worth the investment.
Lovely Video Tim. Thanks for putting it together
Thank you, Bonnie!
Hey Tim! Just wanna say thanks for this video. I’m FINALLY setting out on the CDT this coming year, and with it, completing the triple crown. I’ve watched this video easily a hundred times and I just find myself keep coming back to watch again. Such an amazingly simple yet emotion charging video for me. Cheer bro. Happy trails
-Sorority Steve AT’16, PCT’21
All the best this next year! Thanks for dropping the line and best of luck on the CDT. One of my favorites if you haven't seen it: ua-cam.com/video/UISRi3ZoveM/v-deo.html
@@timbloemendaal734 thanks brother! I appreciate the thought
amazing. wow. I wish I could do that
how are your fingers? they seem a bit black. are they all ok?
Fingers and toes are all ok now. Very sensitive to cold temperatures now, though and more prone to greater frostbite... but I still have them!!
tim what camera did you use for your trip ? great video
F’in Epic Tim. I’ve watched this 4-5 times now. This is the type of trip you look back on in your life and realize YOU made your life worthwhile. A dream trip for me lived through your video. Thank you.
It was an incredible journey all by God’s grace. Thank you for the kind words.
