Its crazy how easily he explains proportions. In my opinion thats the hardest part.
I love this guy. I started painting and there was some anxiety because I thought I couldn't draw. I was watching all these videos on proportions which were helpful but very complicated. But this guy just made everything so easy and stress free. Wonderful video ❤

When you play while doing art..it is a gift..no need to study.. just practice blending colors and draw naturally because it just flows like running water without the effort..the photographic memory is important in the painter..on how to transfer the idea or face to the canvas naturally
the way that man just cleaned his brush with a brown paper bag changed me
There's a lot of good teachers on UA-cam but you are my favourite Yong Chen!
Oscar Escobar, Thank you!
Me too. Yong does the coolest thing in teaching which is to make art look achieve able and fun, the beginning always looks basic and it slowly gets harder. But in think many people could follow, along to his painting.
Me too. I can’t get enough of watching. Just am a bit afraid of starting a portrait myself!
Oscar Escobar 🙂🙃🙂🙃
Eyes: Ok I know to draw this
Hands: No You don’t
Both my hands and eyes knew it..
Pencil, where are you, come back??
no its your negativity to yourself keeping you not to improve in painting. I remember Yongchen said in one of his tutorial, " Give yourself a credit".. you can do it.

Amazing.
Shapes first. Guess its the mandatory rule for every art piece.
Enano Forro ☝🏼😌
The whole world worried, while an artist was playing with colours...

You are the best teacher !!! ❤
I love your style of painting and teaching! Us beginners get overly nervous about every step, but your way of doing things is so simple and calming. Even if I mess up I feel like I am getting the hang of it slowly but surely and I don't feel overwhelmed! Thanks so much! 😃
Fantastic painting and Bach music🙏🏼😊🤗😃🎶...
I love drawing, but painting is another level,, I think Yong Chen is one of the best teacher in UA-cam.
Oh God! What talent...how much skill... You have a large heart bro. Having the reference picture, your palette and the subject in the same screen.
I love playing colors too..like a running water naturally flowing..as a gift from the creator and greatest artist of the earth.. which is Jesus 🥰💝
Very simple narration, very inspiring .many many thanks. May God Bless you sir
That s good....For us who have problems with drawing and details this is so simplified...i think anyone can follow.. great teaching once again
Take color from the SIDE. WOW. I’ve never heard that before but that’s the best advice!!
His son started the paint and he still could save it... amazing.
Your relaxed performance skills are so in tune with your observational skills; always a treat.
FILLIÈRE 😉
This was sooo helpful! I just need to be more confident to paint. It's all about the colors and not painting the details as you know they are but as they look. I understand that concept that my art teacher explained to me, but when I'm drawing or painting I struggle to apply it, thinking that if I draw every detail it will be better and easier to understand, but in the end it's not.
Thank God. At last someone showed not only the painting process but also how he mixed the colours on the pallette!
How it transformed from 36:12 to 36:15 ???
Ik I'm late and I am only 15 but to blend it like that you would most likely need the use of more water but not so much that it makes transparent effects that is not what you want - and the brushstrokes would be less rough more controlled with more purpose. Also, people usually buy this special equipment that allows blending to become much easier, idk if that applies to acrylics.
@@gtrrohit5078 it does! you can buy acrylic retarder which slows down drying time so you can go back in and blend more easily at the end
I love the way you did it I'm going to keep on watching you you're very good at what you thank you
Absolutely brilliant!
I only draw... im a little scared of painting...but i'll try.. with this video i wish it!
Me too 😣 Painting is too messy, and it's hard to control how the colors would go when mixing ahhh... That's why I stick with color pencils 😅
Oh please try. I have the opposite problem. I can't draw realistically. But there's no issues with painting. It's so easy to fix something. You just play with shade and tone. You'd really be surprised how easy painting is. The first painting I did was a portrait of my grandmother. It wasn't perfect but it was a really good likeness and I was shocked that I could paint. If you can already draw, you'd be a great painter!
Freddy Salgado I feel the same
First draw then fill colours in it with small round brushes
With those brushes it'll be easy for you to control
Freddy Salgado 😌😌
This is amazing
Amazing!!!
It was amazing how you brought this portrait to life through your use of colors! Thank you for this video. 🎨😊
Yong Chen, you're the greatest. Thank you always
The beginning actually hurts to watch because i wouldnt be able to do anything after that 😂 Thank you for the video, I'll make sure to practice
Great video, i learned alot.
for me You are the best teacher I learn a lots from You Thank You
Amazing!
it's amazing how this develops from draft to finish!!
This may be one of the most helpful videos for acrylic portraits i have seen. Thank you so much!
Real art!
This! Thank you so much for explaining it this way, from figure blocking to even color blocking!
Brush stroke...........supperrrrrrrrrrr...........🎨
Crazy good of course. So fascinating to see the face emerge!
This is great. I hope I can be a great artist one day. You did so well. He looks like he wants to cry.well done
Very helpful video. Thank u for sharing ur ideas.
Thank you SO MUCH, this is so insanely helpful. I am new to painting and was doing unusually well with watercolour paint, so figured I would try acrylics because the dry time is less frustrating... but have been getting so frustrated with myself while using acrylics because I finish a layer and feel like it looks dumb and give up. You've literally just shown me real time that anything can be fixed into something beautiful, no matter how rough it is. Thank you. I'm gonna keep working on the portrait I thought I ruined after 2 layers.
I love your process. As I was watching you apply the appropriate colors in the first half of the video with the broad brush, I was wondering how you were going to paint in the fine details. You make portrait painting look so easy!!!🔥
This is amazing and it was so fun to watch!!!
Love your tutorial. Learnt heaps. Thanks for sharing. Fascinating watching watching you colour mix with three primaries. Makes it feel achievable for me as a beginner not to have to use 6 primaries(warm and cools).
Came together well. Quick and fun. Thank you.
It's simply joyful to watch you teaching art step by step.. we only need oil painting step by step too... please do that...do not over look any step..again....thank you in advance and all the best.....
Lovely painting ✌️
I thought it looked brilliant even without the details. It looks just like the photo and all with just blotches of colour. . I want to try but if I fail I will be too scared to try again.
If I can give any advice, it's that stepping out and trying it is the best thing you can do. As with any skill, as you practice it more it will become easier. I've painted for a few months, and as I do it more, it has become easier for me.
Excellent, thank you for explaining so well. Amazing!
You make every thing simple thanks sir
🗣YOU 🗣ARE 🗣SO 🗣 AMAZING!!!
+ you inspired me to paint againnnn! thank you so much!!😭❣️
Thank you so much for important tutorial.

im scared of how good this looks in the end
You always explain each steps so well.

Thank you. I'm learning acrylic, this video really helped me!
This was a great tutorial. Just recently discovered this channel and now am subscribed. So much to learn here, and not too difficult to follow.
Wow amazing
you made it seem so easy
Thank you Yong, excellent tutorial!
Thank you, Happy New Year!
Very good. I will try this at home.
Incredible tutorial. I am learning so much from you. I just stated to paint portraits, the proportions are very hard and of course, the color blending. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, this is really a very beautiful painting.
Thanks for the tutorial! Can't wait to put ive learned here to the test!
Respect to you Artist ,i learnt alot from you, you make it very simple and easy ☺️👍
Definitely going to try this with my next painting!
Great painting!
This was a perfect video. I loved the layout; showing the painting, the reference and the palette, all at once. There was just enough instruction, then, at just the right time, it went to time lapse. I found it rather suspenseful (What's he gonna do next? Is he gonna lighten that side of the face?).
Amazing ❤️I have never paint portraits before. You make it look so easy but it’s not😜will try out 👍thanks for sharing
Thank you for this video Yong Chen. I watched it about 3 times before I attempted. Im happy with the result as I learnt so much from trying to paint it. I sprayed my paint with water to stop them drying out. I would share my painting but it doesnt look possible here. I love watching your water colour paintings and have learnt so much from just having a go. It would be good if you did some more acrylic paintings to share, i really like thecway you teach. Thank you so much
Bach and Yong Chen together give a delicious moment.
Beautiful work.
