"On any given day..". Well, I think of all this like I do a big Mac, Whopper and Wendy's burger. On any given day when I want a burger, I can eat any one of them, enjoy the experience and not miss the others. Similarly, I can listen to FAMU, BCC, SU, JSU, or any other great sounding band and not compare them to any body else, just enjoy the excellence and uniqueness that each of these bands, "our" bands bring to the table.

One of the things I like about Southern is the Passion and energy I feel in their playing. I also like the mature sound they have, a sound that I think a college band should have (I've heard quite a few bands with that "high-schoolish" sound, or they play without passion).
Although I don't personally have a "best" band, I do rank Southern as one of my favorite bands I enjoy hearing.

Oh yeah, I think they sound great playing this (and better than most of the other bands that played this). It was just the acoustics of the dome that made the brass a little more "brilliant" that I liked more.

tru. just listen 2 da music n not compare. dats how arguments r started. da whole "competition" thing is out of hand. some ppl act like dey band is best n cant lose. while ur supposed 2 have pride, 2 much can destroy u. not many ppl actually listen 2 both bands n DONT compare

also another good comment. i wish ppl will stop thinkin dere is a "best band." every band brings something diffrent 2 da table. in da SWAC, on any givin saturday, ANY band will take yo lunch if u slippin, no matta if its SU vs MVSU or TXSU vs Alcorn, any band will take yo lunch if yo game aint tight

I definetly agree. In my school we have a rival, but its like they show pride and they show toooooooooo much. They kind of try to blow you out and yet they never worked on dynamics overall. They could be a good band but they choose to sound bigger than they are to be honest. Just like SU. I have no offense to them. Please don't beat me up like that time the whole band beat up one person
