Still following in my foot steps... thanks to Miles my arrangement will live forever... Thanks to those who have attempted my arrangement I'm flattered...lol
Everytime I hear this song I get chills..... I totally under estimated the amount of talent that miles had coming thru their band.... Those sousaphones are sick!!!! They made the song for me!!!
If Not for Miles...How many bands would be playing this..........Those other bands wrote it after hearing miles beast it. They have even tried to out do Miles...
The best arrangement of dirty diana ever heard comes from Miles although the tubas couldnt hang at the end (2:27).... good job to the EXTENDED CAVER of New Orleans
this song so powerful but PMM will never know. y'all got everyting runnin but the trumpets skatin and waitin on that 1 faithful note the flat on everytime. other than that i like it good job
i've never hear prairie view's version but i definitely agree with you that them mellophones are beasting. idk what they on but i need some of it as long as it aint a trumpet mouthpiece.
your completely right, im a trumpet play my self and i enjoy when the trumpets have the melody. i do like it though but trumpets need to play out more or every one else (euph, trombones, n mellos) need 2 back off
Yeah, I respect Miles to be a young, growing band. There a heck of a lot of potential in this band. And I appreciate you not denying the fact that there is room for improvement. That is what separates the musicians from the instrument players.
This song is something else. I remember the first time I heard it, gave me nightmares that whole next week. I would wake up in the middle of the night and know miles got in that ass. It loud in the video and will really have you messed up when your on the receiving end. Trust me, I have felt the machine.
For real though, I didnt know they were beastin like this... But they need to get it together. That trumpet in the upper register should come down. When your in tune there is no point for that.
For comparison, look at the meac. Most bands in that conf have great arrangements and play lots of ballads and marches. Also, meac bands for years have been coming on the field and breaking out a quick dance right after the opening fanfare to get the crowd hype. Swac just started doing this in the late 90's. Point I am making is YES there are differences among these two and all conferences, but to know who is the 'best' you have to look at each individual band.
I must admit this sound good and I've slept on them but to compare them to the "SSSSSS", I mean c'mon people...not taking anything away from yall Miles. Yall did yall thang!
I just noticed in this song~~ This is my favorite arrangement but those Tubas are off a lot through this song!!! Listen to the end of this!!! But they did kill it tho!!!
NSU version more controlled i would listen to b4 i got to bed and just remember MJ. Miles version i would crank in my car on my way to wrk to get me hype for the wrk day.
ay gared1976..wat u sayin poor dc High bands..comparin ourselves 2 southern black high schools..slim little do yhu kno dc is apart of the south and we known 4 our unique drumlines and marchingband..matter of fact more southern universities and colleges come up here and recruit band members more den dey do in dere area
u do hear da fuck up a little after 2:33. i play for Ballou SHS Marching Knights in washington, dc and we learned this last year and blew out every band we saw wit dis song.
I Think Miles Has One Of The Best Arrangements Of Dirty Diana .. But Musically Speaking .. No Disrespect .. Whatever Happened To Balancing & Controlling Your Sound . It's Like Everyone Is Trying To Play As Loud As Possible . If Everyone Would Control Their Sound It Would Be More In Tune As Well . One Of The Biggest Problems With Bands Now Is That They Are Beginning To Believe That How Loud A Band Plays Defines Their Musicality .. Wrong .
No, SWAC is not just a name of a conference. If you follow each conference, most have unique styles. Example: Swac bands are measured by blowin'and style. Go to any game and the fans will let you know who's 'crankin' and who gettin' crunk on. But nonetheless swac bands also play ballads, marches and other technical pieces that focus on total musicianship, not just crankin. Those who grew up on say MEAC don't always appreicate that but it doesn't mean it isn't 'good' music.
i play 4 friendly hs..and we play dirty diana and we play it betta den majority southern high bands...and i came from shaw junior high school...my middle school band wa 425 shittin on college bands...ask about me..i play snare and the section leader 4 my line DA TANK..DC/MD and Va representin u hear me cuz
tuba and trumpet are differant from each other in regards to blowing...but anywho....either instrument is hard to play hellah high p.s. i have experiance with both
I've said it once and will say it again. They are okay, Hell good at times but they need to clean up their phrasing. That is the only thing that really holds them back.
NSU has the cleanest, vsu has the best tuba break down and miles crans it the best, but at 2:30 the tubas were off, one side was on a whole different beat
Wish they still sounded like this.
Still following in my foot steps... thanks to Miles my arrangement will live forever... Thanks to those who have attempted my arrangement I'm flattered...lol
PJ Howard PJ Howard Yo I didn't know you wrote this man. I used to bump this shit hard in high school
Thanks for giving the sousaphones all that appreciation!!
Forever forever ever!!!!
This is the best clip of this song ever played
This is one of those arrangements that u dont want to fuck with from across the field
A classic moment in band history.
Everytime I hear this song I get chills..... I totally under estimated the amount of talent that miles had coming thru their band.... Those sousaphones are sick!!!! They made the song for me!!!
lol That trumpet hangover at the very end was perfect.
The screaming trumpet was my favorite part
If Not for Miles...How many bands would be playing this..........Those other bands wrote it after hearing miles beast it. They have even tried to out do Miles...
Definitely my favorite Miles clip. Yall sound good here
The best arrangement of dirty diana ever heard comes from Miles although the tubas couldnt hang at the end (2:27).... good job to the EXTENDED CAVER of New Orleans
rest in peace M.j. you will be missed deeply
I hate it for the band that was across the field at that game
this joint sound good in person.......... i remember them blowing this at the Steel City Classic in 2002..... Miles was always slept on
Nah they didn't play it till 04
this arrangement is the best simple powerful and to the point i wish the trumpets were bigger so they could be heard when the whole band plays
Susaphones at 1:36 - 2:20 :D phantastic deep :D maaaaaaan
Miles College is a force to be reckoned with this season...they on the come up...great arrangement
this song so powerful but PMM will never know. y'all got everyting runnin but the trumpets skatin and waitin on that 1 faithful note the flat on everytime. other than that i like it good job
i've never hear prairie view's version but i definitely agree with you that them mellophones are beasting. idk what they on but i need some of it as long as it aint a trumpet mouthpiece.
Tubas killing on them bottoms. This version and 2006 grambling version go hard.
Love the tubas but everyone else needs to learn their place. Overblowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shiit sounded good as hell .. tuba solo was fye as hell too ..!!
your completely right, im a trumpet play my self and i enjoy when the trumpets have the melody. i do like it though but trumpets need to play out more or every one else (euph, trombones, n mellos) need 2 back off

I love this song my high school been playin it for the past 2 years we just changed the arrangement a lil but this the version we used
This song is something else. I remember the first time I heard it, gave me nightmares that whole next week. I would wake up in the middle of the night and know miles got in that ass. It loud in the video and will really have you messed up when your on the receiving end. Trust me, I have felt the machine.
YES!!! Did you hear that band...period. Damn!!! Yes sir!!! Killin'!
For real though, I didnt know they were beastin like this... But they need to get it together. That trumpet in the upper register should come down. When your in tune there is no point for that.

I must admit this sound good and I've slept on them but to compare them to the "SSSSSS", I mean c'mon people...not taking anything away from yall Miles. Yall did yall thang!
unlike other instruments in the band it only takes a trumpet that one screaming note to get his/her point across.
I just noticed in this song~~ This is my favorite arrangement but those Tubas are off a lot through this song!!! Listen to the end of this!!! But they did kill it tho!!!
I think they sound good and I would love to see them challenge some bands in the swac.
Lol... The Lord is not done with me yet, just watch. Lol
yall murdered it no hope im not offending but yall sound like southern in this one staight killed it!- Cris "Too Tight" Miller!
dem bones n tones r hell, then at 0:47 them mellos oh shit, cant nobody get that dirty diana

@Picc9210 ....they do.....and you can tell that every other band that plays it samples from this arrangement....good shit PMM
ay gared1976..wat u sayin poor dc High bands..comparin ourselves 2 southern black high schools..slim little do yhu kno dc is apart of the south and we known 4 our unique drumlines and marchingband..matter of fact more southern universities and colleges come up here and recruit band members more den dey do in dere area

Hell Nawl boy, dey CIAA.....
Rest In Peace Micheal Jackson!
this gives me chills!
i understand they crankin but nobody does this song better than NSU
Longest tuba break in fifth quarter history. How many measures of just tubas and percussion was that, like 40? Lol. Beast of a tune though.
yeah...its just like that one trumpet sticking out over everybody else
This is a nice song!!! Tubas got real low on da break down.
ALl I have to say is B-tones and F-horns! Thats f-horn city though! LOL!!!
it sounds really really good but it would sound better without the trumpets screaming every sec
u do hear da fuck up a little after 2:33. i play for Ballou SHS Marching Knights in washington, dc and we learned this last year and blew out every band we saw wit dis song.
Lol dat tuba break was long. The band had to take a power break.
sound good I wish I could have heard more of the mellos
wish i was there then and not in 08 but miles sousaphones cleaned me up and I was holdin it down for the females...
wow, those tubas got off beat badly near the end, never noticed that

they're a great band don't get me wrong but you can't say they're the best. They do have the best Dirty Diana however
i play 4 friendly hs..and we play dirty diana and we play it betta den majority southern high bands...and i came from shaw junior high school...my middle school band wa 425 shittin on college bands...ask about me..i play snare and the section leader 4 my line DA TANK..DC/MD and Va representin u hear me cuz
