You can watch all these instructional videos. But nothing is better than actually getting on a car and practicing all this
Fabian Pacheco obviously, but its good to get an idea on it and visual representation of qhat to lokk for
no shit. this is for ppl that have no clue or very little.
*me trying to reverse thinking it’s the same at going into 1st, etc.* *car starts to shake* “oh shit...”
I learned manual on a 450 horsepower car and I had to drive 70 miles to get back home lol... it was an interesting experience to say the least..
TheeDevilWearsPrada I’m about to be in the same boat. Less miles but still have no physical experience driving lol...fingers crossed
“This is really loud for how slow we’re going” - Said no Honda driver ever.
Meet my kswapped teggy
I went to comment section and as I was reading this he was saying this wtf lol
1:57 those keys are gone forever
Moment of silence 😔
I really dig your personality, and this video explained so much better than my father. Thank you so much.
Lol you can't learn stick shift by watching a video get a Honda Civic stick shift and start practicing that's what I did , no one tecah me how to drive I did it myself cuz I don't know my father and because no one on my family know how to drive so I decided to do it myself at least 1 hour or 2 daily you'll get it in 5 days good luck
Don't hate on dad!
I've heard people say that they learned by turning the radio up and feeling the car rather than trying to listen to the engine. I think it has something to do with not overthinking the whole process
Jack Miller very true
Also putting your mind on something else and making it second nature.
Thank you so much for taking the time to film and post this. Very appreciate all the information you put into this, especially about "not getting stick shift first time" and all the different things on up/down shifting
Great video, My dad is getting a 2004 Porsche Boxster S tomorrow and I've been watching tutorials about how to drive stick and yours was great and informative. Thanks buddy!
Great lesson. Keep it up. Actually for some Europeans cars such as Peugeot, Citron, you can definitely start the car without pushing the clutch down.
Thank you man! If you want more, I actually have a dedicated car channel now called JROCars!
Sure, I will definitely check it out.
badou BA same with JDM cars like some Nissans
EminentLeague hey mister I’m 37 yrs old I need to learn how to drive stick, teach yoda how.

I just bought a 99 mustang v6 without knowing manual lol and here i am already planning on coyote swap or something. Great vid tho gave me a better understanding
Best Video On Learning How To Drive Manual! 🤘🏼💯
Never Learned Until I Saw This Video 🤙🏼
Noé Rodríguez wtf I feel like the video turned me into a noob again
Best video I've seen it really helps a lot man

There is no 2002 cobra
Lmao

This video is much appreciated. Thank you
I've always wondered about manual cars and I just got my license and I really want to try and I this video will help me :D
i learned stick at 11 years old on a 1994 chevy s10 pickup truck.
that thing had the heaviest clutch and stearing i ever felt but because i never had a sporty car i never learned how to do all the fancy downshifts, rev matching, etc, etc.
Thank you. Great tutorial, I appreciate this.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!..... I finally understand what you are say thank you so much once again. I got this now I'm banging gears💪🏽☺
Verrry helpful thank you 17yro learning in my 04 Hyundai Elantra
thanks great breaking it down... helped me alot
Very well done man! Great information!
This was of great help awesome video thank you
I’m liking the way you teach
Very informative 👌🏾
This helped a lot thanks bro
great lesson brother
Besides diesel cars it's very easy to get a petrol car going by using ONLY the clutch. You just need to be patient on the clutch. Training that ability is very useful during winter times!
Great video man
Awesome video thanks so much
The fact that you kept reiterating how to change gears (clutch in, shift, etc.) was pretty damn good. Beating a dead horse is a proven method of teaching lol. Works for the military, ask anyone who went through boot camp. You will say the same shit over and over and over and over again. Marine Corps birthday anyone?
Very helpful💯💯
dont forget when you are rev matching down shifts- your foot needs to be off the clutch- this allows the input shaft of the transmission to spin the lower gears faster- on upshifts, you want to slow the higher gears
Tbh I don't give it gas when upshifting through gears. I left off the clutch and continue the gas in a way where it's at the same time as I let off the clutch. When you're in neutral and you start easing off the clutch, when it starts to move.. that's your grab point. That's where u let off as you continue the gas in one motion. Giving it gas is like over revving it which isn't needed and over time you'll wear the clutch out more. To start off in first, you can also tap the gas little by little as you ease off the clutch. Kind of as if you're in reverse, same difference.
Very nice video! Could you please explain what is the proper way of operating the clutch? With heel planted on the floor or using the whole leg? Since the clutch pedal in my car rests a bit high unlike other cars I am not able to put my heel on the floor and pivot. When I searched on the net I found most people use their whole leg (without heel touching the floor) to operate the clutch. Thanks a lot in advance!
Thanks i learned in 1 day
Cool video very helpful
that was awesome
cool video bro
AMAZING VIDEO DUDE!
I just learned how to drive stick shift; the end of 2015. I never knew that I could let off the clutch first then give it gas? that's sounds so much easier than giving it gas then letting off the clutch.
I'm going to share this on face book if that is okay!!!
Good video buddy
After first gear in the era mustang do you notice you need to floor the clutch? I know some cars are different then others and some you don’t even have to go half way
Nice!
That's very helpful
I am buying my first stick shift tomorrow hve no idea how to drive it. I live in Puerto Rico so the roads are so much different a little more learning to do but cant wait
FilosofoCA how is it? Have you gotten the hang of things ?
Is good so far. I got sort of the hang of it I been driving by my self now. It still turns off on my here and there when i am uphill and people start beeping at me and stuff cause the car goes back and I get scared lol
FilosofoCA how you doing now
FilosofoCA and update on your driving ?
awesome video
+Horace Cunningham thanks man! :)
Once I find the bite point of the clutch, do I keep it there and give it gas ? and then how much gas do I have to give ? And how fast or slow do I have to release the clutch after I get the appropriate gas to move the car ?
Good stuff very helpful plus in my job they pay hi just to drive both so I'll get this shit right thank you
Good job
Nice car 🚗
He make it look so easy
Honestly I like my sn95 without a short throw, in comparison to some other cars I’ve seen the throw is already extremely short, especially those gated Ferrari’s and Audi r8s which have a super long throw, I feel like I would struggle to know what gear I’m in and if I really shifted it if I had a short throw mod. I just hate how you have to extend your arm completely to reach the shifter
i drive a 1990 camaro and its an auto i just got to say that stang isnt pretty on the inside but i like that sound :p i am in process of learning stick in some shitty old ford truck that clutch is real tricky
Is there something wrong if the car starts without pushing the clutch in?
Thanks bro
"Nasty amounts of torque" XD
just bought a 5 speed civic been crusin it around alright the past few days still need a lot of practice. Glad you covered downshifting, definitely one of those things I needed clarity on and starting on a hill of course lol. Nice video
Joie Gardner just curios about slowing down on the E way and how you break while downshifting
Thanks a ton
I have a 03 Vauxhall cords and I don't have to put my cluch in to start it, it is recommend as it takes a load off the battery and the engine of the car
I HAVE AN AUX CORD
my truck is a 3 speed with granny low 86 k10. and as long as it is in neutral I can start it with out pressing in the clutch
Make sure car is in neutral before you turn it on lol and 5mph + you can let clutch go
0:43 the gears aren’t the only thing getting banged tonight
how strong do you think the stage 3 clutches are?
I just got rid of my stick shift 2 months ago...kind of missing it now
Oh that's no good stick shift are better than and automatic Ecoboost lol
First if the car's rpms start climbing without moving you don't let the clutch out faster that's how you lose control of the car especially if you're a beginner also over revving is what happens when the car passes the rev limiter since you clearly don't seem to know what that is. Secondly you don't have to give it gas when you shift to the next gear if you shift at the proper rpms which if your car is shaking when you shift your shifting too low in the rpms which means the next gear doesn't have an rpm to switch smoothly. Where did you hear shifting at 1500 rpms saves gas because that's not true that's how you fuck up your transmission because you're shifting too low. Third if you put the car in neutral you don't hold the clutch in you shouldn't hold the clutch in when your sitting at stop lights or when you're down shifting especially since that burns up the clutch. Also one of the common sense rules of driving stick is you never drop to 1st gear especially not from 3rd what that's called is stupidity the tr3650 transmissions which are the transmissions that are in the Mach 1 as well as the GT's are not designed to drop that low especially since their synchros are notorious for going out. Downshifting rev matching is smoother for the transmission not the clutch. Clearly you don't know much about Mustangs especially since the Mach 1 was already a sub model so therefor they are all relatively the same there was only one package really available it was called the I-Up package which had nothing to do with performance also not all Mach 1's came as manuals some came as automatics. Also shifting fast is a skill you are far from mastering that was slow as hell dude especially considering the fact that you have a short throw shifter in the car and the gears are closer together which should have helped you but you still shifted slow as hell. I've been driving manual mustangs since I was 15 and had my permit I'm now 23 and watching this video the only thing I've learned is that you're a dumbass bro you don't know what you are talking about, however you do know more then the average teenage driver but you definitely should not be teaching others how to drive stick when you are so far from mastering it yourself. Also a piece of advise do you're own work on your car it well help with the learning process that's what I have done and it has helped in my knowledge of my cars immensely. Sorry to be so harsh just don't wanted t correct the mistakes which there are many more but I don't have enough time to get to all of them.
Here in israel, to get your drivers license, you need to go to a driving school and get like 40 lessons (half an hour each), the car I learned to drive with is so easy, the clutch is easy control and I mastered driving that car and I passed the driving test, but trying to drive my dad’s car was really difficult and you have to get used on the clutch again and gas clutch balance again.
same with me L:( its so frustrating
My Frs is stick , makes it better and you unique ! Lol that girl joke works for sure ;) Great Vid!
Dude that's sick FRS is an awesome car! And I agree. Hahaa thanks man!
18:26 for people trying to get better at down shifts
When you turn the car off and it's on a hill, do you leave it in 1st gear with the emergency brake on?
Jenbug0421 yes
If your car is facing down put it in reverse gear and first gear if facing up. And don't forget to engage the brake.
Jro
How do you know how much gas to give when Rev Matching?
I think you add about 1-2k rpm but it depends on the gear you are going into and how fast you are travelling
I have a video game set up so I can drive it like a real car.
I have a manual transmission shifter and a clutch connected to it so I can drive a manual transmission the same way as a car.
6speedguy84 Mario kart manual 🤣
Please Make the video about how cars work
I agree you never know
Yung Mathew McConaughey
Alright Alright
practice heel to toe when downshifting, brake lights don't come on, so learn how to "lean" the brake
„driving stick shift is kind of a lost art”
*laughs in eastern-european*
Well here in germany nearly no one has an automatic car... over 90% have a manual car... 😂😂👍👍
Ok if im on the freeway in 5th gear and traffic is up ahead and i need to slowdown and stop i need to press the clutch and break at the same time while putting it on neutral???
If im slowing down do i need to hold both the clutch and the brake if im already in neutral?
Once the car is in neutral just let if the clutch
dat Spigen phone case tho
I can't imagine what your insurance premium was. I was paying $958 for 6 months for a 17 year old volvo when I was 18.
Hi sir when parking a car in a parking lot should it always be neutral position or first gear ? Thk
Tyrant God in a Parking lot, keep it in the highest gear, and have the ebrake in
I always just leave it in neutral and pull the e-break up, bc I never just turn it on and keep the clutch down bc I have it in gear, you may forget one day and accidentally turn it on and just take your foot off the clutch and you’re gonna be jerkin everywhere and stall real nasty.
@@Demeetrius , Wouldn't That Damage The Clutch ?
So you accelerate while pressing down on the clutch to rev match when downshifting ?
Deeken Wheeler not accelerate, u push the gas pedal in to rev the engine up to match the speed of the lower great at your car's current speed
Amirichi so push the pedal without holding the clutch!? to rev match
Jhon Martinez no you still have the clutch in, you're basically bringing the engine rpm to the same rpm of your gearbox and tires before u let go of the clutch
Deeken Wheeler You don't need to revmatch in normal cruising around town you just keep the the gear your driving in relative to your speed. So don't downshift to second while doing 70 mph. Also let the clutch out slowly when downshifting, obviously if you.let it out fast the cars going to jerk. I've been driving stick since the 80s and have never revmatched nor has anybody I ever knew. I think it's an import thing for modern time. if your at a road course I get it.
@amirichi Do you dump the clutch after you blip the throttle? like Clutch > Neutral > Gas > Down Shift > Let off clutch fast ? or let off slow
I learned how to drive stick working at a car wash...
If you buy a mustang do you need to use stick shift?
Loser there's no point in buying a mustang if its not a v8 and not stick shift that takes the fun out of it.
hey you sound like ChrisFix ! is that you?
I didn't want to watch the whole video but I own a 99 mustang gt manual.. some cars you have two double clutch because they don't come with a synchronizer
I live in Europe, in Europa stick shift is the standerd
I learned how to drive a stick when I was 11 and took my behind the wheel test in a stick and passed..
SEANJOHN 92663 I remember my first beer
hey arent u jeffery from JROCars
but thanks for the video
Oh oh a mustang driver ! everybody get out the way ! Lol
Girls in the back seat is good to flex the manual around dude lhhh
I learned how to drive stick a 9 years
Is that Sam from transformers?!? Where’s *bumblebee?!?*
