In 1967 a friend of mind owned a black 1960 Chevy Biscayne like this one. He had gotten hold of a NASCAR 409 block. Bored it out and put 348 heads on it and added a 348 tri power manifold. We told every body it was a 348. Most people don't know that you can't put a tri power manifold on a 409 engine with 409 heads. But with 348 heads you can. My friend kept this secret to himself for years while he street raced this car. This car never ever got beat unless it broke something. Then after repairing the car he would rerace the car he lost to and always beat it. One day in 1974 my friend and his wife got into this car to go to breakfast and just around the corner from his house he blew up the engine. He then and only then let out the information about this engine. It was suppose to be over 500 cubic inches. After years of trying to get him to take it to the drags he finally agreed. Below the control tower he did a burn out. Taking out part of the clutch. When he left the line the car did a six inch wheel stand. This car only had traction bars and headers. Other then that it was completely stock. At the line when he let the clutch out it slipped the whole time. Then when he hit second gear he broke the center support in the drive shaft and it hit the bottom of the car the rest of the way. The car stop the clock at 11.58.
Never was a 60 fan before, the way it's done, I am now, of that particular one, scary looking in all black, interior looks great in leather, stance, rubber, motor, real nice build, and has A/C too

Ordinary black 15" wheels, duel exhausts with hidden tail pipes. It was a fantastic sleeper. These are great memories.

A glorious car for sure!! I had a 1960 Biscayne for a few years as a young man. Back then, it had 46,000 one owner miles and costed $600 from a dealer with a warranty. I always wanted to ditch the six for a big block but didn’t have the money. There were no 496 ci engines back then. A 327 was the usual transplant, and 409 and 396 big blocks were dream stuff! This one is a true show car with that fabulous black paint. It shows that this guy was a body shop owner, and he did it right!! A great car story for sure, Lou. Thanks for the memories.

They're made of Steele! Haha!
I'm a body man of 30 yrs, and know and feel the pride of the owner. The last 5 yrs of working I took on classic muscle cars, like GTO judge, anniversary corvet (totaled), 66 El Camino, 60s corvair, many 60's and 70s mustang etc. My prize car that I owned was a 64 1/2 mustang Shelby cobra with hp 289 screamer. Oh the memories. 😊

Wow some serious pipe there! What size is it?!
"2 and a half inch"
Lost all credibility right there lol...
I think it's 3 inch.
I know lol, those are Not 2.5 inchers! I had a 63 with 2.5 inchers with Corvair turbo mufflers. Really great sound. Not as loud as this one though.
Lou knows pipe
I have to agree with Joseph Trunk's comment: "Beautiful Car, thanks for sharing, Lou! Exquisite! Wow!!"
HI Thomas Hill, Enjoy receiving a "Wow!!" from you :-) Lou
You have a 496 to hell with the nitrous
RIGHT !
I had a friend who had one of those back in my high school days. We had so much fun in that car. His was all original with the three on the tree.

Wow Lou I love the car and the owner too what a neat guy! Man thise pipes are huge and it sounds really healthy my Lord. The old nitreous oxide I there really gives it a boost good Lord! He did a awesome job on the body and the interior too. But if course that motor is awesome too. Thanks for sharing Lou!
Hi Steve Flad, High praise :-) You're welcome, Lou
A glorious car for sure!! I had a 1960 Biscayne for a few years as a young man. Back then, it had 46,000 one owner miles and costed $600 from a dealer with a warranty. I always wanted to ditch the six for a big block but didn’t have the money. There were no 496 ci engines back then. A 327 was the usual transplant, and 409 and 396 big blocks were dream stuff! This one is a true show car with that fabulous black paint. It shows that this guy was a body shop owner, and he did it right!! A great car story for sure, Lou. Thanks for the memories.
Glad you enjoy this "glorious car" :-) You're welcome.
One of my first memories as a kid was going with my parents when they traded in their 1953 Desoto for a 1960 Chevrolet Biscayne.

@@loucostabile Always been a Chevy fan, the one I've been enjoying for the last 30 years is a 1976 Malibu Classic, 2 door with swivel bucket seats. It has a 4 and a quarter horse 350 on a turbo 400 trans. with shift kit. Will do love seeing older cars and trucks and what people have done to them.
This Car Looks Great We Had A 60 Impala my father bought new and it just rusted out till 72 but That car You have Looks great. Very nice old Chevy
Happy to read you think this car is "Very nice" :-)
A 496 engine? Has to be aftermarket. What a beautiful Biscayne! With that NOS setup, no wonder they call it "BISQUIK"! Another great classic from you!
Hi Michael, Happy to share "BISQUIK" with you :-) Lou
496 is a Chevy motor. Our shop 1 ton came with a 496 in 2001.
It's only aftermarket by Lingenfelter. There really is a Chevrolet 496. It's a truck engine also known as the 8.1L and they were in production in the early 2000s. They may been in production in the late 90s, I can't recall exactly.
That is a beautiful car. So refreshing to see one that is not a lowrider.

I recently picked up a '59 Biscayne 2 dr with a nice late 90's restomod refurb. ZZ4 crate motor with a new 700R trans and all new suspension and brakes. Nowhere near this level but a fun hot rod.

In 1968 John Rines, of Bath Maine, set an AHRA world record, in the 3/DS class. 11.50 sec @ 121MPH. with his 1966 Bis-Kwik L72 427 Biscayne, with 456 gears, 1968 L88 open chambered heads , 15"x 10"drag slicks, and Doug Thorley headers. Today the car survives in Connecticut. One of only 6 L72 66 Biscaynes , know to exist.

Love 60's cars. This ones a beauty. Engine sounded weird up under the hood though, don't know if it was just the audio on the camera or Alt. bearing or what. Something sounded metal on metal.
Hi X-Man, Happy to read you enjoy this design :-) We'll take a look into that metal to metal sound, Lou
