    Thor knew Kratos as an animal. The god butcher. The foreign savage that murdered his pantheon but in that moment where Kratos tells him they have to be better for their children's sake, Thor realizes he's the animal. He's the drunk, out of control, manipulated fool who can't even protect his family.

      Zeus didnt allow Kratos to be better, hence Kratos had only one option left.
      Thor is a good example of what would have become of Kratos, had he stayed on Zeus' leash.
      Kratos chose his own path, where Thor let himself be puppeteered by Odin. And heavily disrespected and mocked even.

      Which is why the things fated to happen would happen, according to the Norns.
      Everyone has free will, it's just that who they are makes what they'll do so painfully obvious that making 'prophecy' is nothing more than common sense.
      Kratos telling Atreus to open his heart, denying his own teachings, his own nature, and then following through on that change with Thor is why the 'prophecy' didn't come true.

      I like to interpret the prophecy as the Giants getting the big details right, but not the little ones. For example:
      • A God of War was supposed to end ragnarok, not Tyr

    • @lazyspade1559

      I think it’s because the “god of war” here is Odin. Like in the depictions of TYR Kratos took his place in those moments even though Odin was transformed as TYR.
      It’s like how Kratos back in greece became the god of war that the fates predicted would defeat Zeus.
      It makes sense to Kratos is more about physical war while Odin is about diplomatic, and manipulative war.

      In the last game, the trio follows where fate lets them. In this game, they are the ones changing their fates because they got better since last time. A really amazing storytelling concept because they have to include fate in the story but that means for the audience that we were expecting fate to happen again which means we have been spoiled on the story and expect Kratos to die in this game. But this game is about changing their fates so the player's expectations are subverted.

    Zeus was as abusive as Odin, except that Zeus was more open about it. While Odin was your average narcissist who firstly portrays himself as "the good guy", then "lovebombs" his victims by gifting them nice things (like he did to Atreus with bedroom, clothes and magical flying sword), covers up his manipulation with smiles, nice words and "it's all for our greater good" excuse, throwing his victims under the bus for his own benefit (Mimir, Freya, Tyr), having "flying monkeys" (Heimdall, Gna, Hrist and Mist, his pet/slave ravens and temporarily Thrud) to do his dirty work, having meltdowns when something isn't going his own way and shifting the blame onto anyone who confronts him for his BS.

      Was talking about mechanical side, the variation in attack patterns like how elden ring bosses can sometimes delay attacks just to throw you off. Mixing up attack paterns, abit of randomness and occasional relentless pursuit. Stuff like that.
      In god war Bjorn? the bear Atreus can sometimes be relentless. Which is something Odin should have done atleast in his second phase just to show is desperation and determination to destroy you. Would also add to the feeling of spectacle that that fight is missing imo.
      Just my two cents anyway. (gow trying to look and play like darksouls made people start judging it on said standard. Yet clearly they want us to remember that its just god of war not a souls game)

    After watching this fight I realize that Kratos does not have any of his Greek godly or magical powers other than his innate spartan rage and his own strength he’s fighting at a big disadvantage here and he’s winning, Thor still had his magical powers of being a god of thunder Odin still has his magical powers and they’re losing this.
    This tells me that the Greek gods of Greece more specifically the pantheon of Olympus were extremely powerful in their own right and at the time Kratos killed all of them no, except maybe not Aphrodite. But Kratos, he’s here in the lands of the Norse killing the gods there with little to no powers of his own and he’s winning.
    If this is him fighting against the Norse gods while extremely diminished with none of his Olympian gear Or abilities… I wonder how much of a pushover the -Nose- Norse Gods would be if he was fighting them at his peak of power?

      Oh, but a lot of people are always just pointing at the fact that Cory said Kratos is stronger in these games, ignoring the fact that his base self could and does seem to be stronger, but that doesn't in any way prevent him to be weaker than his past self overall when taking into account all of the Greek powers/artifacts he lost.
      He obviously retained and honed some of his godly abilities that stayed, but a big thing of the past games was the magic that a ton of the gods and titans gave him and the relics he collected. It's even said in one dialogue in this game some magic is somehow linked to the place it originates from, so either by the destruction of Greece or simply by getting out of there, he forsake a great deal of abilities.
      When it comes to equipment, though, he could've brought more with him, but he was trying to get away from the past and only kept what was literally chasing him (the blades) lol. The golden fleece, for exemple, would basically function as an indestructible shield that instead of simply giving you the opportunity to parry stuff, would magically redirect the attack's power into the attacker -- it'd be a funny surprise for Thor or Odin to put their all in a blow and just get it reflected to their face lol. Another cool one would be the wings of Icarus, which would give him much more mobility (not that he's mostly restricted by plot conveniences and could just pretty much jump or tear into anywhere he wanted, but it is what it is haha).

    • @ryankaiser2702
      @ryankaiser2702 Рік тому +15

      @@emmanuel1337 as he’s older physically he’s stronger but he lost some versatility being that magical gear. And his divinity died with Olympus and here he is fighting and killing the gods of the Norse in their realm of power. He is a de-powered god of war and he is killing the Norse gods in their own lands.
      Historically there was indeed a god called Cratos except he was spelled with a C and was a god of strength.
      Because his divinity and sphere of influence died in Greece he is a god with no followers no worshipers and no power base to grow his power, all he has is what he is and that by itself is still pretty powerful.
      I’m not quite certain of it but my theory is that the Gods of the God of War series grows in strength and power the more their worshiped and prayed to.

      @emmanuel1337 Рік тому +2

      @@ryankaiser2702 I have heard that hypothesis of the gods in GoW being powered by the mortal's worship before and this is something that does happen in other stories (Clash/Wrath of the Titans, for example), but I don't see any evidence of it in the GoW universe -- in fact, we see counter-evidence. It's never mentioned that so many humans being caught in the crossfire of Kratos' vengeance weakened the gods nor do we can reliably infer such an effect, and that absolutely should've been the case if it was true (unless the power just stays with the gods, but I still think it's very far-fetched). Moreover, it'd be too important and impactful of an aspect of the universe to not mention at all or at the very least strongly hint in some way -- it's not something they'd really leave vague while outright explaining so much other stuff clearly.
      A lot of people also talk about the idea that they necessarily grow stronger with age pretty much indefinitely, but that's something that seems to just be traced back to the gods as seen in Marvel comics, which is a very particular adaptation that doesn't really carry out to everywhere and fans are probably just conflating stuff in their minds.
