- Snow Storm at the Farm - In this week's video, we are dealing with a heavy April snow storm. We received around 20 inches of snow over a 3 day period. The cows didn't miss a beat; they stayed dry and comfortable throughout the storm thanks to our hard-working team.
If you have any questions about this week's video, leave them in the comments, and I will post a Q&A video on Sunday if needed. As always, thanks for watching!

You are amazing! My grandparents were farmers and my dad raised all our food to eat! My uncle inherited the farm and kept us in eggs, beef, pork, and chicken meat! I get so angry at how farmers are treated! You are the hardest working people in the world! I understand changes are coming in the 2023 and 2024 periods that will help farmers! I pray it comes soon!
Thank you for your comment!
Being in tech and a city boy all my life, I now have a better appreciation of what you guys do in farming, God bless, keep up the great work, very informative video..
Thank you!
Help me bro I am already worked dairy farm I help u you need labour helper
Unreal ! I’ll never complain about price of milk again. Thank you for sharing.🐄🐄
The quality of the sound improved a lot with that new microphone. Thanks!
What a gorgeous farm! You keep everything so clean and well-organized, it's a pleasure to watch your videos. God Bless real American Farmers like you, our country would die without you
religious vomit
@The Sun Witch Have you ever raised beef cattle? Have you ever run a farm? I think not
rotating the tractor seat and controls is awesome.
It's amazing how resilient animals are, and how well you take care of your animals. Thanks for sharing.
12 to 20 inches!!! That's bonkers!! I'm from the UK! The country would come to a standstill with that quantity of snow!
2 hours West of us it snowed 40 inches, just crazy!
40 inches! That's even more bonkers!
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 hi
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 my name is George from kenya can you please offer me a job on your farm
Major snowstorm!!
I’d say your new mic works great
Thanks for showing that reversible seat, I watch lots of farming on UA-cam and I’ve never seen that before
The mic is a little bulky, but I was surprised how well it worked.
I had never seen a reversible seat in a Fendt either.
I'm glad to see that the calves are in a barn, and not just outside with only their hutch for shelter in the cold.
That snow and blowing is just why we moved to Florida from northern Illinois but our grandson is a starting left-handed pitcher for Valley State and he gets to enjoy your winter weather 🤣😆🤣
I duck hunt near Carrington and I have a great appreciation for how you guys tackle the crazy fall weather out there.
I just moved up to Bowdon a few weeks ago to join a harvest crew. But I used to work for a dairy supply company and always enjoy your videos. It's really cool to live only 30 or so miles away from you!
Great video.. Things have changed so much from my younger days.
You have one hell of a farm there. The 100 stantion barn we had doesn't do much to yours. We did okay back from 1950 to 76. Had a lot fun and hard work. I'm just impressed just how big farming and dairy has progressed through the years. My first skid steer was a wheelbarrow and a pitchfork 😅😅😅. Your doing a great job. Keep up with the channel, I am a subscriber.
Thank you!
Such hard workers.God bless all farmers.
Wow did not know that about the seat very nice feature Love watching you guys as we only have 500 cows
Wow farming is so much work. Thanks for the video and your work 🎉❤
I wish we could get that snow here in Utah we can get that much this winter we're going to be in a big drought Farmers all around here I feel bad for him not enough water for the fields hope family is all good phone looks good stayclassy take care and God bless
Western North Dakota is very dry, I'm sure they're very happy with the snow. I would've preferred rain, but I won't complain, we needed the moisture! I hope you get some rain or snow soon.
Love from India💓🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
I hope they are warm inside their coop. Please treat kindly, they feel pain as you do, and God loves ALL His creations. 👋 ❤️
Yes, the calves are well taken care of! The health and well-being of our calves is a top priority. Even during this extreme blizzard our calves were fed and received fresh bedding on time as normal thanks to the hard work of our team.
Hai I'm from India nice cows friend
So hard work 🤠
You are making a lot of effort, God bless you 👍👍👍
New subscriber from Mass! God bless you for taking pristine care of your gorgeous cows, and little ones. Be safe, stay happy, warm and you are loved, Sir 🫶🏻
Yes us is South Central Manitoba got lots of snow! By the looks of it more then what you even got! More snow is on its way they tell us!
Yes, looks like this weekend there is a good chance of snow/ rain for us as well.

Hey my class and another class got to visit this farm last week that’s pretty cool
Straszna zima u ciebie na Farmie
They always say if you get snow on Easter Sunday you get precipitation the next 6 Sundays after.
It's snowing again today, looks like that's holding true so far!
That's quality. Cute ness. The calf's. Popen out of the snow. I dove in a stock dam. Just once. Simatal had cafed. Little guy got spooked. In the pond it went. So I tooke of in. Saved its life. On cold cold day it was
fantastic!
huge farm.
I am new subscribers from Pakistan your channel very impressed 👏 and very hard to and good bless you
First time watching. Just a city girl here. Can you tell me what a milk silo is? Refrigerated milk storage? Glad you didn't have to dump any! What a shame.
Yes refrigerated milk storage, it's an upright stainless steel storage tank. We fill it with milk and then a trucking company will load the milk from the silo onto a milk trailer and deliver it to the milk processor. Thanks for watching!
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 thanks for answering my question!
First time viewer here. Awesome video. Just curious though. About how many head do you milk ? And about how many total do you have ? Very informative video
We are milking around 1600 cows and have around 3000 total cows, heifers and calves on the farm.
Wow, that's some serious snow !
Why I m in love with you 😂
Nice place
Great video thank you for sharing. Your farm looks amazing. How many cafe huts do you have?
Thank you! We have 175 hutches, we typically have around 100 calves in hutches.
Wow y'all get a lot of snow
Hello. I see that you are using a Fendt, once you buy a Fendt, you will always buy a Fendt :) We have a farm in Poland and we are now milking 160 cows and about 400 ha, we plan to install 6 lely a5s. What do you think about robots? Lely comes from the Netherlands. The farmers of the Netherlands are considered to be one of the best cow keepers. :)
Yes, very user friendly and versatile tractors! That should be exciting going to lely a5 robots. I like the concept of the cows being able to go to the robot when they want and the relaxed environment for the cows!
спасибо
Good
To stop snow blowing underneath curtains you can shovel up snow agens it. Not necessary with skid steer it doesn't need much to stop the wind
Not a bad idea but then we have to shovel it away again haha. It doesn't usually blow in like that, but the wind must have been just right for the snow to come in.
Nothing more scary than ND ground blizzards
We definitely got hit here in Dickinson with that storm
Hopefully it helps with the dry conditions we've had!
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 yes I’m honestly sick of the burn bans and not being able to do fireworks on the 4th every year we need some moisture
Will the snow be good for for fields, in terms of moisture?
Yes, I'm happy we received some moisture!
Where from a major city are you located? North of Bismarck? Like to get a good idea for all my NoDak farms. Had at least 16" of snow over by Napoleon... looks like you might be getting another blizzard?
We're about 2 hours Northeast east of Bismarck. It's going to be mainly rain for us, we might get some snow Sunday.
a tractor one . We had one it was great. simplicty. Hubby dies so I gave it away so it be used. not die . You know hubby toy. Ya it was very good.
Супер молодец
Dear your dairy farm is in which country.kindly mention yourcountry
North dakota, USA.
Nice hi
Ein interesantes Video ,leider nur auf Englisch.Würde gerne erfahren, wie viehle Kälber im nachhinein gesungheitliche Probleme hatten??
Hi, we didn't have any health problems resulting from this storm because of the hard work of our team!
Them poor calves. What a terrible life. 🥶
Our calves are very well taken care of. Their comfort and health are extremely important to us.
Wow! How many cows do you guys milk?
We are milking 1600 cows.
Did you ever get snow storms like that in the Netherlands?
No, in the Netherlands they usually get very little snow.
Poor babies 🥰🥰
I think so too. They get separated from their protective moms a few days after birth. There is nothing sadder than listening for them calling for each other.
Our calves are very well taken care of. We house them in individual pens the first 2 months to reduce the disease pressure on our calves when they haven't built up their immune system yet. We want to give them the best chance at a healthy, comfortable life. By housing them individually we know how much each calf is eating/drinking and can properly monitor their health.
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 of course you must take very good care of them before turning them into veal. You run a dairy…so to freshen the cow she must give birth in order to get back into the rotation line. Why don’t you do a film on the life of a dairy calf from birth. Run audio of the constant stream of crying that goes on between mother and calf. It’s a cruel business the life of a dairy farmer.
@Sue Anderson I appreciate your concern and want to ensure you that the health, comfort and well-being of our calves, heifers and cows is a top priority for everyone on our farm. As a farmer I understand the responsibility I have to take care of our cows with respect and the best care I can provide. I have several videos in our calving barn, calf nursery, and heifer barn. I will definitely have more videos in the future showing our calves. None of the calves born on our farm are raised for veal. Cows and calves don't cry for each other, some cows don't acknowledge their calf at all after giving birth.
The Calves cannot mix with each other?
When they are 3 months old, they go together in groups of 3 and at 4 months old groups of 18.
Hi! I was wondering why it doesn't seem to be common to have a threepoint link and a pto on the front of the tractors in the US, does anyone know why that is or is it not the case?
I think you are correct in saying that front 3 point and pto are not as common in the US as they are in Europe. Even rear 3 point links are not used as often here. I think the main reason is the large equipment used here is typically hooked onto the draw bar of the tractor instead of 3 point.
It's pretty rare to have anything for front 3pt or PTO unless one needs a specific job where it requires it. Very common to have front loaders with attachments instead.
3:02 Fendt Rufa system...
min 1:27 cow chocolate milk
How many cows are you milking?
We are milking 1600 cows.
why separate calfs. it would be much more nicer and warmth for calfs to stay together in a straw place. they need their community.
We raise our calves in individual pens for the first 2 months to reduce their disease exposure and closely watch their nutritional intake. At this stage, they have not developed their immune system and are more susceptible to disease. Once they arse past this stage, they go together in groups in larger pens.
HI WHY DO YOU HAVE SNOW INTO THE CALF BARN?
We had a blizzard impact our area that brought significant snow and wind, I talk about this in the video.
What kind of cover do you have on the roof of the barn?
The roof on our barns are steel panels.
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 In Poland, we all install a board with foam insulation, but now it is very expensive, we are afraid that there may be a condensation effect with sheet metal panels.
@@rafamichalak3478 we have a thin layer of insulation under the steel, it's fiberglass insulation on a plastic roll.
@@rafamichalak3478 I think without insulation we would have condensation.
👍
So thumbnail was fake
What i dont like about dairy industry is that calves are separated from their mothers and put in these very tiny spaces while mothers become milking machines
The thumbnail picture is a real picture. To give our calves the best environment to thrive we house them in individual pens to limit the spread of disease and allow us to closely watch them individually. Once they build their immune system they go into larger pens in groups. The health and well-being of our cows and calves is always our top priority.

How big is your operation?
We have around 3000 cows, heifers and calves total.
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 I'm impressed with everything I've seen of your farm. You have developed not just a farm, but a wonderful way of life.

Damn I'm glad I live down under !
need a snow blower tractor
A snow blower would be nice to have for certain situations!
Snow should not enter, inside with cows and calfs
Жалко малышей телят! 😔
Где Вы живёте?
We are located in North Dakota, USA. The snow doesn't enter the hutches, and they were fed and received fresh bedding on time thanks to the hard work of our team. The well-being of our calves is a top priority for us.
Poor animals! Is heartbreaking, !
Stop dairy !. Poor calves !
Thank you for your concern! I want to ensure you that we are here caring for the cows 24 hours a day, even during extreme storms. The calves were fed on time without delay and received fresh bedding. At no point were they in any difficulty during the blizzard because of the hard work of everyone on our team.
Learn how to tell if calves are in distress before being so judgemental.I couldn't believe these calves were so well taken care of.There are none calling out in distress They all look perfectly content and well taken care of.

os animais servem bem ao homem, mas este não lhe dá a liberdade e o deixa preso num pequeno espaço
Our calves are housed individualy for the first 2 months to prevent them from contracting disease while their immune system is not developed. After this, they go into larger pens in groups.

Imagine being a cow and you have to endure this treatment. You think they produce natural harmonic milk. Not only clean the snow but make sure this does not happen again.
I appreciate your concern! I want to ensure you that we are here on the farm 24 hours a day, even during extreme storms, caring for our cows. The design of the hutches doesn't let snow enter into them, and the calves were fed on time without delay. At no point were they in any difficulty during the blizzard because of the hard work of everyone on our team.
