Hey everyone, have you ever had your bike refuse to start and the "Alarm" flashers flash? Well, there are a couple places in my town where if I park my bike it will not start! After several very frustrating events, I discovered that on rare occasions a cell phone tower can interfere with the passive alarm fob and prevent the fob from communicating with the alarm system. All you have to do is push the bike about 10 to 15 feet and it will start every time! Strange right? Check this out with your local HD dealer, it will save you a towing charge someday! Pass this on!
Have your key fob near the bike Set your kill switch to off Quickly turn the ignition switch on, off, on, off, on Immediately press and let go of the left turn signal switch twice (press, let go, press, let go) Press and let go the right signal once Current PIN number will be displayed on odometer Change the PIN by pressing the left signal until the desired number is reached Press the right signal to cycle to the next number and repeat step 7 Turn ignition off when 5 digit PIN is satisfactory
Great video, im purchasing a 2013 street glide next week and always wondered what would happen if you lost the key fob or it broke, thanks for the info
Hi. Have you ever heard if there is a limit of times you can use the override code? I lost my fob and will be able to pick a new one at the dealer only on monday and I'd like to keep riding on the weekend. The bike is a 2016 FLHXS. The closest dealer said I can use it about only 30 or 40 times and then the bike will not start anymore but I didn't find that information over the internet.
i wish i didn't have a security system on my 08...all it does is drain the battery and if you don't recharge in time it will just waste it...plus you have to worry about the key fob battery dont die either
Disarming 2008 Softail hands free key fob. The problem started when I disconnected the battery. After some research and finding the original 5 digit pin code which successfully allowed me to disarm the system and start the bike. The problem is when i shut the bike off w/the ignition switch, the bike rearms and when the key fobs are near (within 6') they do not disarm the security system. What are my options?
My 2008 FXDL was in storage while I was disabled and the battery on it died completely. I put in a new Harley Davidson Battery and tried to start it but it will do nothing. It does not respond to the Key Fob and I have to keep doing the left - right sequence for 1-1-1-1-1 to start it every time. If all ANYONE has to do is enter a code it is not very secure just a pain in the ass. I wish it did not have a Security System just turn on the key and go. All it needs is the Forks Locked and it is not going anywhere, but maybe in a circle! So how do I completely remove the junk from my cycle?
+William Colvin Fork locks can and do get broken by thieves. There are videos here on UA-cam showing that happen in pretty short time. The security system has a storage setting that will not drain your battery. Also, the code you set should be your own private code, not 1-1-1-1-1. Further, your bike needs to be configured after a battery replacement. All this and more can be found conveniently located in your Harley Davidson owner's manual, and may help you better appreciate that "junk" equipment on your motorcycle. Ride safe.
But like I said all you have to do is hot wire the ignition press the left and right turn signal at the same time and use any number the person taking it wants to use. I used the 1-1-1-1-1 because that is the fastest number to punch in,but any number you use will work not very secure.
On my FLHRCI, the 5 digit code cannot be set without the key fob. All I can do without the fob is attempt to enter codes (like I would do of my fob was lost or damaged), I cannot change them.
Is there any way to turn up the sensitivity on the smart siren II. ANY ONE could take all of the parts off of my bike without tripping the alarm, just as long the bike stays leaning to the left. It's BS. I know the older smart siren you could change the sensitivity level.
Great Video! Pleases make one showing how to change from chirp less mode to chirp mode! Instructions in the manual have not worked for me on my 2013 Sportster.
Ultra....won't crank,no blinkers, Headlight, running light, tail light and horn all works, can hear fuel pump come on..........Help all gauges light up except the speedometer and tach.....Spot in speedo not working for code.....
I just lost my key fob, I purchased the bike used, I contacted the owner and he said he changed the code from the factory default code but he couldn't remember what it was. I called the dealer where it was purchased from and they would not give me any information on it because I was not the original owner. My local harley dealer wants $550.00 for and new fob and to reset the code on the ecm. The bike it a 2007 FLHT touring standard. Does anyone have an Idea what I can do? I purchased a new FOB.
I had the same situation...nothing you can do...NOTHING...no locksmith can help you, no hacks, you're gonna have to pay the dealer to put in a new security module and reset the code.. I think I had to pay a little bit more than you though (they told me the battery was dead, and that they couldn't reset the code until the battery was working), so at least you're getting hosed less than I was. Put on your handlebar shoes, because you're getting screwed...lol..
Harley has the worst security system of any bike in the world. What if you don't remember the code and someone stole your wallet where your code was and the battery died in your fob? You're screwed!
Thank you Sir, good explanation.
Clear explanation and well presented Marshall! Thank you! Please more videos on the new technologies.

I don't know what hot wiring the ignition would do to change that, it doesn't bypass the fob so I don't see how you could just program in a new code?

That doesn't work on an 07 V-rod , but it was a good video.
