This is the game I’ve had literal dreams about since I was like 8. Avatar in general has its narrative issues but honestly I fell in love with the world and na’vi culture years ago and my love of the world hasn’t changed. I’ve always wanted to experience exploring pandora on my own accord and I *finally* get to do it. It’s not perfect but it delivers what I personally wanted and for that, I love it. Of course DLC would be absolutely awesome too. Imagine all the cool stuff they could add especially with the upcoming sequels later this side of the decade. I can’t wait
This is EXACTLY how I feel as well, the first movie was a huge part of my childhood and I still love it to this day, it's something really special to me that I can even get emotional about just watching some of my favourite scenes cause I love it so much and so I've had times when I'd imagine how a game like this would be and how amazing it would be to just go for a fly whenever I wanted, so when I saw the first ever teaser a year or two ago I was more than over the moon, I watched it multiple times and realised that what I always wished could be coming true
Yes thank you bro I remember watching the first movie in theaters when I was like 11-12 years old, watched the second twice in theaters now being 27 , and I was always like if they ever make a game I want to fly around on a ikran( or flying banshee, that’s what I like to call them) and yes I did and it delivered basically what I wanted out of an avatar game
Don't apologise for liking avatar. It doesn't have narrative issues; it's a tremendous blockbuster movie. Is its theme derivative? Yes. But does that matter when it inserts you into this amazing new world Cameron created? No. Not at all. But don't get me started on avatar 2:)
There's a reason for the discovery of P.A.D. (Post-Avatar-Depression.) This world was captivated by so many that they became depressed with our decline and inability to experience this type of primitive respect and loyalty to your environment. I am also one of the people who has always admired the beauty of Pandora. 🫶🏻
I love how the beginning story of the school and the cryo beds sets you up for the wonderment of exploring the world outside. Your character doesn't know what anything is at first and neither do you as the player. New players shouldn't be ignorant of the world and it's inhabitants when the character would be well versed in the environment. The setup at the beginning puts both the player and the character on the same footing when it comes to exploring and learning the ropes out in the world.
@LWKGD I haven't made it that far yet. I have just now made it to the first settlement that does the silk and has the guy with the banshee that gives you the heavy bow. I am thoroughly enjoying it so far, though. Yes the opening part is slow and boring...not even a container to find and loot. But I believe it's on purpose. Both to set us up for the reveal outside and to show how boring and unappealing the lives of the "sky people" are.
Been playing co-op with my son and we’ve been having a blast in this gorgeous world. We loved the Far Cry series. So for us, this is a win. It’s fun, immersive, and although we do like to make fun of cheesy dialog, most of the voice actors are pretty decent. Co-op does not feel generic and was well thought out.
W review I might just pick this up as the world looks VERY FUN to explore, even if it gets repetitive after 10+ hours. Been looking for a big open world game to play after recently finishing Cyberpunk and LoTF! UPDATE: I bought Avatar and so far it has been AMAZING. The world is the *most* beautiful atmosphere in ANY game so far and the gameplay is extreeeeeeeemely smooth. Parkour feels SO GOOD!! The missions are kiiiiiinda like basic Far Cry quests, but everything else is really good!
Picked up Avatar Frontiers of Pandora on PS5 and man the graphics are absolutely stunning! It’s the first game since Horizon Forbidden West that has blown me, the world of Pandora is so lush, the natural environment, lighting is top notch. Flying around on the Ikran is a treat, Far Cry Primal is one of my all time favorite games and Avatar Frontiers of Pandora captures the vibe of that game perfectly. 😊
My brutally honest thought I actually think people are just shitting on games because it is ubisoft. Do not trust reviews, they say. I find it really hard to trust gamers, too. Many have a personal vendetta against a company, and the hive mind is brutal and disgusting in some cases. Reminds me of a cult or a sect. Even one guy faked glitches and bugs in a game because none should play a game from a company he hates. I say it here. AC shadows look great when playing the small woman. No pre-order, but I think I will buy it. Baby inc or not. Is the gameplay good, I will buy it. That is what a gamer is.
People get too tribal with anything. Including game companies. They’ll tell you that far cry games are generic and repetitive but then tell you Ghost of Tsushima was game of the year when they are literally the same games. People love to hate. And they hate to watch people enjoy something they don’t
Must be your first time with Legacy Gaming. This team has been using the “brutally honest” title for YEARS. And bc Ubisoft gave them a code doesn’t mean they are going to biased. If you listened/watched this channel for any amount of time longer then 1 or 2 videos. Just saying.
I share the same sentiment about how you explained your initial interest in the game. I was kinda like, 'Isn't it just that old movie i'm sure, it's gonna be mid", but after looking at this review, I'm glad to see they actually put work into it. Thanks for the review!
@GaranRodgersIJSAF the amount of a movie or series can make is irrelevant to how much effort a team put into the game. I'm glad you can google number, though
@@FervorGaming I knew before I googled it was the largest grossing movie of all time. Don't puff yourself up bud, it's going to be ok.
I just watched a different review that said the world doesn't throw a billion different sidequest and enemies like a typical Ubisoft game. Just gotta buy the game myself and see I guess.
If you follow only the main story, you will hit very few side quests, but the moment you venture off and explore locations, there will be a ton to complete. Enemies as we mentioned are highly concentrated in their respective facilities/outposts
I think all these channels like this and Dreamcast Boi etc who say "Brutally Honest!" need to drop that. If I'm watching your review, I'm expecting honesty, that's a given. I'm not expecting a "slightly honest" review.
I have put about 130 hours into this game so far absolutely loving it currently on level 15 but I’m literally doing every thing else other than main missions. I love the gathering and crafting systems. Everything has a purpose there is not much waste one of the best crafting and gathering mechanic systems I’ve seen in a game ever.
@LegacyGamingUS still remember me? still I watch your videos. btw how long is the main story line, means like ac Valhalla is long and ac mirage well just 24hr. thanks for the review.
Honestly - The Witcher 3 , released in 2015 !!!! , looks far more better with a much better history . Red Dead Redemption 2 , released in 2018 . So we are in 2023 !!!!
I enjoy your review, but there was no mention that Melee combat is essentially not in the game what so ever which is quite important to the combat styles presented.
Best Buy dropped it to $50 (1/14/24), so I picked it up. I've just now taken down my first refinery, so I'm still going through the early tutorial-like missions. First impressions: first off, yes, it's a very pretty game, regardless of what display setting you use. Since I can't stand 30 fps, I've stuck to the performace mode with an FOV of 90 on the Series X. Second, the game overwhelmes the player with a ton of on-screen information, the minute you leave the TAP facility in the introduction. The information dump can be a bit distracting, but if you stick to the prinary missions, all of the various game mechanics start to make more sense. So far, I can't make mich of an informed opinion, but if you like Far Cry (I do), it's probably a safe bet that you'll like what I've seen in the first 4 hours.
Nice review. I think you hit the nail on the head with saying that the world needs to be a bit more dangerous at times. Would help quite a bit with late game motivation.
Let publishers worry about the popularity of an IP. As a consumer, you shouldn't base your opinion on what's most popular but what it is you like. Alien, Terminator, and Robocop aren't as popular as they once were but I welcome every new game in those franchises with open arms. In Avatar's case, Massive is behind it and I have faith in their ability to deliver a solid game at the very least.
I don’t disagree with you, it was more of a setup to us coming into the game relatively cold. We’re not diehard Avatar fans, so we went in eyes wide open
I thought the game looked cool initially, I kept in mind Division 1’s release trailer and what was actually delivered to the player, leaving aside the 7+ years of patches and nerfs. Ubisoft Massive is great at false advertising or releasing incomplete games, albeit nowhere as terrible as Todd Howard. Based on my experience with Massive, this game will be one I wait on for a solid year because if it’s great now, they’ll update and mess that up soon. I hope it turns out well without taking several years to get there.
I like Far Cry. I don't care if the formula never changes as long as it improves the mechanics. It's just a series of open world action shooters with a main campaign and a list of side objectives to do around the map. I don't get what's the problem with that. Why do people who are not into this series, want it to change it's formula? That's like me going to Resident Evil and ask it to stop focusing on horror...oh wait...it did happen and it backfired with 6 in 2012. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I know this review is old, but the reason the RDA isn't around a lot like you think they should be is because they were run off the planet at the end of the first movie. They are what is left until more return ten years later (from the first movie).
Honestly I think this game appeals 60/40 more towards women gamers interests. I think with a solid romance interaction storyline like in the movies it would have hit it out of the park for most players.
I do agree that the game should offer ways of transportation or traversal variety when it comes to these scale, to keep it exhilarating or "fun" and id be a wasted potential for how big the Avatar universe is. They do hit the park when it comes to environmental design/landscape with how alienating it was.
How cool would it be if, in one of the DLC's, they give us the ability to bond with a Thanator? I would KILL to be able to become Palalukan Makto and climb and leap across Pandora atop the back of a giant murder cat. Allow it to attack while on its back like your Ikran, and the devs would have a perfect excuse to make much bigger and stronger enemies to be scared of.
11:12 Are you seriously really complaining that about this?? Knowing Ubisoft if they had any real purpose they'd try to monitize them to make this single player (or 2 player co-op) game pay to win. We don't need that shit.
I've only played for a couple of hours... In fact I've stopped playing - at least until I unwrap my game controller on Xmas day. 🙂This game is not very K&M friendly and I would go so far as to say you won't get far trying (I made it to the base above the waterfall). But I'm looking forward to exploring the game using a controller. First impressions are good ones. [60yo woman who is moderately familiar with open world games].
@@stuartbagley2586 did you miss my point completely? After I said that profit doesn't determine the quality of the product, now you want to tell me that popularity does?
The game having go south or west is bad as it doenst tell you whats north or south as compass moves in circle.aslo the sense trail doesnt work half the time
I do think that since they announced two DLC's coming later in 2024 im sure there will be references and hell maybe even a full on story quest relating to the most recent movie
IMO Combat seems pretty bad, crafting seems tedious, who wants to do the same minigame to pull out a plant. Main story will probably be short, side missions are usually meh unless they actually entail some story
I hate crafting, it was nice back in in the ps2/xbox era when it was a relatively new concept that are only adopted by a handful of games but these days no thank you
1:07 not as popular as it once was? Avatar The Way of water came out 1 year before the game. 53 weeks exactly. That movie made 2.3 billion. 3rd highest grossing movie of all time. You can’t get much more popular than that
Honestly, I'm kinda tired of the ubisoft open world style of game. It's like I already played this game just in a different setting. To each their own as long as u like it. Enjoy
Eh idk, active maybe, but real/immersive def not. I love the division games, played both but it’s pretty immersionless when you have to put 40 rounds into someone in a hoodie haha
@@z3roninja565 immersion to me is environment not gun gameplay. Maybe they need a sci-fi version to justify the amount of bullets needed. They need a way to make combat last longer and challenging. But exploring the cities and finding encounters everywhere and searching for loot is the immersion.
Division games are 90% copy and paste -every part of the game is some variations of buildings or interiors of buildings with different color cars here and there. Every enemy is a variation of another enemy with different levels of sponginess. The game is stale IMO
Hearing the first line about how Avatar is no longer popular while the sequel sits at #3 all time gross in the box office only behind endgame and the original avatar made me laugh.
Been waiting for this one for awhile. The price of the super deluxe edition or whatever it's called is ridiculous. But I'll fork over the $70 to play it at midnight tonight, sure why not. This video was like a pump me up video lmao thanks bro
Games literally farcry with a avatar skin not worth it as a avatar fan im Greatly dissapointed in this game and the pure laziness shows. Was originally going to let u play as navi or human but everyone should know that they cut ALOT OF CONTENT from the game. Pure laziness with a overpriced pricetag. But hey be like the cod players and waste your money its no skin off my back 😂😂😂
I love this game the only gripe that I have is the lumpy mechanics of the character. It would have been nice to have an option of 3rd person if the player chooses to do so. The movement of the character is lumpy breaking off Flora and not knowing which direction to snap the fruit or plant can be a little frustrating at the start of the game I noticed there was a guide with a pivot point as a triangle that showed the breaking point that isn’t apparent now and you know how much pressure to apply and where to snap and to get the perfect break is now near impossible. There is room for improvement and I hope the feedback to the Devs they end up making some changes to the mechanics in the game. Other than that is a huge game and it’s fun to play but I have to say this game isn’t for everybody. If you want a normal stop all action game with loads of rewards then this game isn’t for you. You could spend over an hour looking for a superior fruit but as with all Ubisoft games the Devs leave it to the player's initiative and common sense of the player to work out and it doesn’t come with a tone of clues even the guided game can be a little confusing at times.
Hey here's a quick tip if it helps you, took me a bit to realize it as well. Whether you're playing on pc or console, what I do is I light press the right trigger to grab the item (it'll start vibrating), then I slowly rotate the left analog stick until you notice the vibration slow/stop, at this point you can then press the trigger fully. That's it. Once you get familiar with it, you'll probably even memorize which direction you need to pull. Hope this helps.
Farcry primal was an excellent game that changed up the Farcry formula. This game was an attempt, a fair and nicely done attempt but still feels lacking and new. It should have been FC Primal with new gameplay mechanics and immersion.
I've put about 40-60 hours of gameplay and even platinum'd it. Visuals are great. I find most of the humans on the resistance side very cringy at times. Story is super predictable and the most interesting character is the villain. The only thing good I found in this game was the visuals. Sidequests are boring or repetitive. The combat is tough even on easy, especially since the humans can shoot through boulders. Having all the tribes members speaking English felt lazy. It would have been better if the MC and the other Sarentu slowly learned the Na'vi language. So much propaganda too.
Can anyone explain to me, what call of this phenomenon? In my county before the release of avatar 2, so many are so obsess with avatar, but after the avatar 2, no one talking about it, but why?
Too much time has passed and in that time we have had an epic run of high quality series, games etc We are more desensitised to cgi and epic fantasy to be as blown away as we once were
I’m pretty sure Ubisoft is listening to all this feed giving from the community and will add it into the upcoming expansion packs, that’s why they are far from now
I didn't miss (or even notice) the lack of the water tribe, but players traditionally hate water levels/worlds, and I'll bet Ubisoft knew to steer clear.
What? We're literally just stating a fact. We dont do paid or sponsored reviews ever, that would harm the integrity of a review. We just cover things we want to play.
You left out a lot of brutal honesty. Main story is unenthusiastic and voice acting is abysmal. I fealt no connection to certain npc’s and honestly hated more npc’s than i could tolerate. The points of interest were cut and paste. Same rda bases in different locations. Prolly saw maybe 4 different layouts. Navigation system is trash too. Waypoints to points of interest were not near the point of interest. Combat is repetitive. Skills dont allow much variety in gameplay. There is a lot this game lacks. Only real compliment is movement and the surroundings. Everything else is sub par from a game
As you point out this is a beautiful game. Your review was very well done. That's why I subscribe to Legacy Gaming. I'm not an experience gamer like you guys. I like to pick up a game and just have fun. I didn't have fun crafting/building my weapons and character dress code. Exploring was visually beautiful and fun at first. The game as a whole was to complicated for me, a part time gamer. Being complicated, not intuitive and often having to figure out the right time and right place was frustrating. I play video games for one reason, to have fun. As beautiful as this game is, I never got emotionally involved with any character. To me this game quickly became no fun. I'm back to playing a quick game or two of "Gwent" on "Witcher III" before I wash my Tesla today.
😅 I want to play that reality but me only down side is devs says no game plus and that kill this tipe of games soon or later hope people start asking and they see game+ is much have on this tipe of games
This game is everything starfield was supposed to be. Honestly, getting lost and exploring through the world is so remarkable. It reminds me of skyrim when it first came out, truly an elevation on the fps rpg genre. The sound, lighting, and immersion are next gen. This and Remnant 2 are raising the bar. Don't sleep on this!
@@LegacyGamingUS I can see how people could just get tired of the repetitive gameplay from far cry, but even then, across the board i dont think the open world formula has changed much. The only thing I can see far cry and avatar sharing in common is that they’re fps open world games. Granted, I’ve not played this yet and only briefly played far cry 6

Not worth it its farcry with a fuckin avatar skin im pissed at the sheer laziness of this game.
There isn't that much weapons so....
Don't play it then. Pretty simple.
Honestly I think this game appeals 60/40 more towards women gamers interests. I think with a solid romance interaction storyline like in the movies it would have hit it out of the park for most players.
100% agree! This game scale and details made me fall in love with this universe again!
One thing that we need in the future is water biome
homie was BRUTALLY reading wikipedia to us
2:17 suh ren 2 hmmm no ooo ooh
I want Far Cry Primal meets Green Hell then amplified, adding regions and animal hide clothing and shelter building material options.
One thing I do wish they can bring is aiming down sights instead of just hip firing but other than that game is amazing
We think it's friendly on both M&K and Controller (we played on both without issues)
The box office says otherwise on its traction in pulp culture
Before I learned how to play avatar I was super confused and not having fun. Now I know how to play i'm having a BLAST
this it’s a game its a world and mostvof the time i’m juts flying above the clouds listening to to the music and hearing the wind blow
I remember people saying Way of Water was going to flop because Avatar had no cultural impact.
Then it made 2bil..
@@coreymckee4844 and still nobody talks about it. A lot of shit media makes a lot of money, doesn't make it any less shit.
@@ic3kwl2 . . .but it does show a level a popularity.
@@stuartbagley2586 did you miss my point completely? After I said that profit doesn't determine the quality of the product, now you want to tell me that popularity does?
but is it still worth it to get it cause of the story and exploring and the other stuff🤔🤔🤔🙂?
The game having go south or west is bad as it doenst tell you whats north or south as compass moves in circle.aslo the sense trail doesnt work half the time
How bad are the microtransactions?
Or have they not been put in yet?
It's just cosmetic skins and like every Ubisoft game, there is a vendor with challenges to earn currency to buy them ingame on rotation.
I hate crafting, it was nice back in in the ps2/xbox era when it was a relatively new concept that are only adopted by a handful of games but these days no thank you
Far Cry: Pandora?
Very good game, impressive graphics, good experience, story, a beautiful environment not like 90% of the new games
Enjoy
I get the cents of openworld fatigue.
Tired too ubisoft is from my hometown (Montréal) but I cant support theyre games cause they are trash rehash far cry bullsht open worlds
It’s like what Farcry was meant to be 🤷♂️
I mean o have seen other reviewers do this comparisons even ACG and it feels very different but it depends on person too.
Ubisoft+ can actually be something to try out
The division games still feel like the most real, active open world games with things everywhere.
@@hby7768 yet is 100 times better then this overpriced farcry port 😂😂😂
So with this game, we can kind of get an idea of how their Star Wars open word game will play. The Far Cry formula will be in there somewhere.
Man nice review but i had to skip a lot because i felt i was seeing spoilers hahah
Hearing the first line about how Avatar is no longer popular while the sequel sits at #3 all time gross in the box office only behind endgame and the original avatar made me laugh.
This game is actually really good in my opinion the hunting and gathering gameplay loop is awesome
Look out guys, we got a BRUTALLY honest review here...
I like this channel but the "brutally honest review" trope is old
Come up with a better name for a review series that helps us compete with the likes of Skillup and ACG and ping me on Discord ;)
Been waiting for this one for awhile. The price of the super deluxe edition or whatever it's called is ridiculous. But I'll fork over the $70 to play it at midnight tonight, sure why not. This video was like a pump me up video lmao thanks bro
Yeah it's hard across all games to justify $70 ever tbh.
@@LegacyGamingUS $129.99 for the ultimate edition and $109.99 for the deluxe are my gripes. I guess that Ubisoft though. Still hella pumped!
I think I'll try the 15$ month Ubisoft service, so I can play it for a month (not likely) and save 55$.
Do what ya gotta do to save money brother. The companies aren't sweating haha
But hey be like the cod players and waste your money its no skin off my back 😂😂😂
It's by far the best Ubisoft game in the last 10 years. Really surprising.
Bdo's map is bigger, gta's map is bigger, red dead's map is bigger, rougue's map is bigger
Bdo, gta and Red dead have multiplayer pvp so ofc they are bigger
@@tresicario984 Apologist much are you?
I got the ubisoft pass for star wars and dropped It and I am having so much enjoyment with avatar
The Farcry 3 dev are not the guys that created this game, Massive studio, the guys behind The division I and II games who did.
Outstanding review. Thanks for the recommendation. I just beat it and loved every minute. This is no my favorite open world game. GG!
Farcry primal was an excellent game that changed up the Farcry formula. This game was an attempt, a fair and nicely done attempt but still feels lacking and new. It should have been FC Primal with new gameplay mechanics and immersion.
It's farcry: avatar
I've put about 40-60 hours of gameplay and even platinum'd it. Visuals are great. I find most of the humans on the resistance side very cringy at times. Story is super predictable and the most interesting character is the villain. The only thing good I found in this game was the visuals. Sidequests are boring or repetitive. The combat is tough even on easy, especially since the humans can shoot through boulders. Having all the tribes members speaking English felt lazy. It would have been better if the MC and the other Sarentu slowly learned the Na'vi language. So much propaganda too.
Avatar IS good!!! Love It oin the series x. And the writing IS good. Exploration and traversal of the world IS incredible.
Can anyone explain to me, what call of this phenomenon? In my county before the release of avatar 2, so many are so obsess with avatar, but after the avatar 2, no one talking about it, but why?
Too much time has passed and in that time we have had an epic run of high quality series, games etc
We are more desensitised to cgi and epic fantasy to be as blown away as we once were
I’m pretty sure Ubisoft is listening to all this feed giving from the community and will add it into the upcoming expansion packs, that’s why they are far from now
Just close your eyes and jump… this game is phenomenal and worth every cent. My only complaint? No loading screens to catch your breath, lol…
I wanna try it. But i dont wanna pay full price il wait for the discounts. I like fary cry but i havent finished a fary cry since Primal
Totally a reasonable idea
I didn't miss (or even notice) the lack of the water tribe, but players traditionally hate water levels/worlds, and I'll bet Ubisoft knew to steer clear.
Every single review I watch is like meh 7.3/10 😆
7 out of 10 isnt a bad score lol. 5 out of 10 average.
@@LegacyGamingUSApologetic reaction from paid and sponsored one?
What? We're literally just stating a fact. We dont do paid or sponsored reviews ever, that would harm the integrity of a review. We just cover things we want to play.
People are saying this is boring and tedious as hell while others are saying its fun and great. lol Very interesting.
It's almost like everyone has their own opinion or something lol
ty nice keep it up kodiak
The game is good. The NPC facial animations and speaking its really good.
Absolutely well done video brother 👊
Eh it just looks like a re-skin of Farcry. I'll pass but thank you for the review.
No game is going to be perfect so dont know why it mentioned
Ubisoft 😂😂.. Please Microsoft buy this shit compamu
I can't wait to explore this world!
So you play like a far cry version of Avatar??
I'm back to playing a quick game or two of "Gwent" on "Witcher III" before I wash my Tesla today.
i love avatar but i so mad no 3rd person so i dont no if i going to buy make 3rd person first game was 3rd person for me it suck
😅 I want to play that reality but me only down side is devs says no game plus and that kill this tipe of games soon or later hope people start asking and they see game+ is much have on this tipe of games
I'll wait for it to come on steam I wanna play the game but not on the ubisoft store.
Not a huge fan of Ubisoft, was not planning on getting this until this review.
Great review!
So you only get to ride/tame a couple of creatures?
Correct, it's very much in-line with the films (and another reason we REALLY wanted Way of Water content lol)
Beautiful looking game! I like eye candy games, so I`m in.........Hurry up and release!
I have not played this and can allrdy tell this is not worth 50 or even 60 €. 30€ at best. Meh maybe i'll get it in a sale one day.
And that's totally fine. Buy games when they are right for you.
You sound ridiculous. You can't tell anything about what other people will enjoy.
farcry used to be one of the most popular and anticipating games, what’s with the crowd complaining so much?
Far Cry hasn't been well recieved the past 2 or so games.
@@LegacyGamingUS5 sold 25 million, 99% of devs won't do that in a career
What‘S the difference between brutally honest and honest? Asking for a friend🤣
Me personally I actually like AfoP
Damn. I thought I could trust y’all for a legitimate review.. It’s basically far cry with avatar assets and skins…
