To this day that speech brings a tear to my eye. I am 55, lived near Boston in the 70s, am disabled and have experienced prejudice/discrimination in my lifetime and personal life. ‘That all men are judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” Freakin’ brilliant, profound and til now not realized. But we are slowly getting there and all the racism in the world might slow that train but it will NOT be derailed.

That's very touching, thank you for sharing. I think it's important that as we move forward in our society, that we never forget where we came from and how we have in fact inched closer to a world that those of us who came before us only could dream of. There is still a long way to go, but thanks to those who came before, the distance is much shorter.

You know you are a great speaker when you can go off script and have it STILL be epic!

Absolutely, the man was a true genius in that respect.

I’m not American, so that is actually the most of his speeches I’ve ever heard. A very powerful man, with a powerful voice and deep love for his country and the people.

It's actually quite fascinating to see how his message has spread around the world, his phrase "I have a dream" is something that people from a variety of countries have used in protest.

My 5-year-old daughter was born on January 15th and shares a Birthday with this great man. We are just starting to share with her the significance and importance of MLK, and since we live in Georgia we have great opportunities to do so :)

I don't think I've heard his speech in full, but the epicness of Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech "I Have a Dream" is common knowledge that has crossed both boarders and seas.

Definitely, I think it's something everybody should at least take a moment to really listen and take in the specific points he is addressing.

I'm reminded time and time again how often the most motivational things are also the simpliest. "I have a dream" might be rather corny and cliche, yet that was the thing that got everyone excited.
Look at how many different famous speeches, both from TV, real life, or movies always bubble down to the same ideas of "I want this. I really want this. I REALLY want this. I SUPER REALLY WANT THIS."
Some people might get tired of it, but cheesiness and simplicity has some special impact on people doesn't it...

I think if you can take a complex argument or idea and say it in a manner that can be understood by practically anybody, it lives on because often it's as simple as it can get. To then take that, and add poetry, then make it a widespread. In a way though, it makes me think about how in mathematics there is an attempt to develop a theory for everything, mathematical equation that is as simple as possible to explain as much as. Maybe there's something similar when it comes to people creating beautiful, complex, yet simply stated remarks.

I'm just forcing myself to do smaller videos. Having a Monday deadline also has been motivating me to get stuff done. I should have done this a long time ago.

That moment is the moment when MLK cemented his name and his principles in the annals of history for all time. I still get goosebumps when I hear it.
