@minkyblack I don't think so, but that may be true in some cases. There is an old urban legend that Norman, being on the Canadian River, is "safe" from tornadoes since they normally come from southwest to northeast. My belief is it doesn't matter if it's a river or an ocean, tornadoes still can happen there.
@2LateIWon That's where I figured you were nearby! That siren that is behind a shopping center there with the two stacks of horns is the loudest one in your video. It sounds awesome.
@minkyblack Well since they are very close, they often get the same storms as they roll through, but they definitely get more tornadoes than Norman. They often take relatively the same path, too. Compare the one on May 3, 1999 to the one on May 8, 2003. Almost the EXACT same paths.
yea i've heard that Moore gets more storms...when we were there in Oct of '10, I noticed that the storm seemed to separate and go around norman, to the north and south...is that usually the case?
Wow, almost 2 years after you shot this video and this town is wiped off the map by a huge tornado. The sad truth about this video is that even with all of the warnings and sirens going off, most folks seem to ignore them and just go about their normal activities as seen here. Maybe some of them regret that decision now.
Wow, this is about where we were at Panda Express on a chase in April! We saw the dry line pop up and we saw some good activity! Good places and good times!
@dillonrockband I remember one of the workers at the fairfield inn told me that, and that norman has been lucky as far as tornados....interesting...but it does seem that certain land layouts divert most of the storms in places..
sucks to live in a place where you have to be alert everyday. its like the ghetto is above you ready to make suprise drive by at any giving moments while you out shopping with your love ones.
@dillonrockband The siren in My town is only used for fires since we live in the bush by the river. Lol there is an apartment right beside it.. I'd hate to be living in that place when it goes off. Oh one time there was an explosion beside it and it triggered itself and while the siren was going off the ground shook too so everyone took off running. It was and experience.
@MIKON8ERISBACK None taken, I think most of those 'older' neighborhoods are REALLY ghetto :P and yeah, that's how it is in Denver too, I used to live there. Pretty expensive to live there too. Did you know that in physical size, OKC is larger than Denver?
Tornado sirens are cool... yet make the tornado scary. Tornado sirens are a big factor in tornado safety...
It's actually really entertaining! I mean until it destroys your house. But I love severe weather.
@dillonrockband what are all the sirens the types that is?
nice recording btw is that 12 port siren while you were at furr's was that moore's 2001-dc
at 6:55 to 7:10 you could see the vortex siren amazin
I will never forget the Sentry 40V2T In Hinton Okahoma activation I said: "What a Shock!"

To everyone: How about reading the description before posting comments asking a bunch of stupid questions? Thanks.

it was coincidential i found this. PRAY FOR MOORE
@2LateIWon Lucky, that siren is becoming more and more rare. You can hear another one faintly when I go to the other side of the building.
Yes, the first one is the Vortex.
Can you see any of the sirens in the vid?
It is actually right across the interstate, behind a bunch of houses and trees about 1/3 a mile away
@Cars2fan They are all Whelen Vortexes. They do sound like low pitched Sentry's though.

Yeah, you get use to that in TX, the Golden Triangle always has severe weather...
Wow, this is about where we were at Panda Express on a chase in April! We saw the dry line pop up and we saw some good activity! Good places and good times!
In your description, you say 2010, did you mean 2011, or was this actually a year ago and not what happened yesterday?
can u get a recording of that 2t22?
@dillonrockband I remember one of the workers at the fairfield inn told me that, and that norman has been lucky as far as tornados....interesting...but it does seem that certain land layouts divert most of the storms in places..
is that very first one the vortex??? it doesn't sound as... "plasticy..." as the 2001...
Although the sirens are pretty cool, you should pay attention to the storm
what's the proceedure when those sirens go off?
@dillonrockband Yep actually that right behind my house. I can stand on my back deck and see it from my house.
I (might of) figured out what was wrong with the recording! At 0:45 I hear thunder, then recording static noise.
laughed so damn hard. i love sirents, weather radio etc. this is right up my aley. going in my favorites
sucks to live in a place where you have to be alert everyday. its like the ghetto is above you ready to make suprise drive by at any giving moments while you out shopping with your love ones.
You have to listen REAL close starting at 2:34
great vid! loved the shut ups! ha ha! is it true that moore gets more storms and tornadoes than norman?
What siren winds down at 3:50?
@dillonrockband The siren in My town is only used for fires since we live in the bush by the river. Lol there is an apartment right beside it.. I'd hate to be living in that place when it goes off. 2;35 Where is the Modulator, it sounds near by

@Tonyshawnw Oh I bet that was FUN. Personally, I'd love to live next to it. Only because I love sirens. But I'm just a nerd like that.
@Tonyshawnw Ha, lucky I moved to where the sirens are a LOT louder. I hated the coverage at the old house
Yeah its a modulator. But I dont hear the Whelen 2910
i thought it said 2012 i was like shit!!! 22 thousand views in a day not bad bro.
Now that restaurant you filmed from in Moore was hit today. :(
The Warren Theater! Love that place. Cool video, btw.
''Shut up I'm recording!'' LOL
@lachlalanni Sorry. Fixed it. I was tired.
I come to listen to a siren but I got lost seeing the green grass...
I don't hear a 2T22.
Doesnt it suck when you try to record a video and all people do is talk?
Your phone was messing with your audio. That's what that was.
Yeah I do thankfully. :p a tornado almost hit me the other night but it lifted before it came to Yukon.
2:37 I was about 3 miles form you at 12th and Santa Fe
1:53 oh there it is
Thank you, I'm a very popular tornado siren lol
