  • Met up with DL1011 (Sirenkid) in Dimmitt Texas and watched an intense storm that all but set down a tornado. Numerous sirens heard. Also, some woman wouldn't be quiet. Lots of editing. We then went east and got some more video on the storm. This is almost like his video. Thanks Travis for inviting us to watch. Had a great time. Hope we can do this again.

      @@fredjones3135 Well well well we have someone not mature enough for the internet. Listen part of being an adult and raising kids is to over look what people say. I teach my kids not to infringe on peoples rights. When you start with one thing it snow balls. Trying to tell someone how they can and can’t speak is just plain stupid. An adult and a child that’s parented right will just over look it and say oh. This guy likes to say fuck every 10 seconds. It’s just part of being an adult or a mature child. Just say ohh this guy is different and go on. But trying to dictate what people do or say when you have no authority to do so is just narcissistic and arrogant Words mean absolutely nothing. When I was 5yrs old I was in a helicopter crash and both pilots were killed and I was the only one to survive because I layed down. That’s what I call a bad day. People that stress over a stupid word some random moron uses is just crazy. Unless you are an employer and you have an employee using words where you have authority to do something about it.

    Tough to answer. If radar indicates possible tornado approaching then the sirens are activated and a warning is issued. Here in Amarillo, they activate for 5 minutes with possible re-activation if needed. We usually have 10-20 minutes warning time. But, they sometimes just form real quick with little warning. The storm above was hardly moving so sirens were a little late as they didn't really know which way it was moving. We watched it for about 10 minutes before sirens went off.

  • @kdksiren
    @kdksiren  12 років тому

    Think so. It is about 2 blocks to the right in the video. The Screamer is about 4 blocks to the left. Not sure how they activate them.

    @NCOProductions Dimmitt has a EOWS 612, (the high pitch sound), 1 Screamer (the loudest heard), 2 Federal Model 7's ( The other one you can hear) and and STH-10. (To far away to hear). None are seen in the video. We went back a few weeks later to find all of them.

      They are a big deal here in Tornado Alley. Most all municipalities have them. Houston isn't prone to tornados unless hurricanes I'm assuming. City of Lubbock just installed a very large system. Here in Amarillo, there are about 100 of them. Thanks for the nice comment!

    @carexpertandy Good question. As we drove closer to Dimmitt, the wall cloud was very obvious. We stopped in town and the cloud was dropping. I went to the courthouse doors where 2 sheriff's were standing and looking. I asked them if the sirens were going to come on. They went back in and a couple of minutes later...We have to go back and find the sirens and see what all is there. It's about an 80 mile drive from Amarillo. Been a stormy season around here. Thanks!!

    There are sirens all over. But some cities, even here, don't have them. Canada has tornados but not that many so the expense of putting them in probably doesnt make sense if they are never needed. There are sirens around nuclear plants and refineries.

    @nick06111226 We went around and looked at all the sirens in Dimmitt. That is a Screamer for sure. No Cyclones in Dimmitt. We have been unable to get a time when they test the sirens there.

    @carexpertandy We chased the storm from a few miles out. It was rather convenient that it went toward Dimmitt. They waited until the very last moment to set them off, but we figured they'd probably would with a confirmed tornado in this cell.

    Not off the top of my head. Planning a trip back over there in the near future. If we remember, we will post the locations.

    We have gone back over there twice to catch that one. Both times, they failed to test. It's about 70 mile drive one way to get there. But may try again soon.

    Sounds a little high pitched. I thought DL1011 said it was a 5A
