The 3rd guitar (Dean Fertita) over on the left of our view is playing it , you don't see him as much but if you listen he constantly plays an E drone by ringing out the note E on the 12th fret on the high E string. You actually see him several times during the video. His hands can be clearly seen at 3:03. That note is played rhythmically at 8 notes per bar for the entire duration of the song. There is no doubt about that.
I can't disagree with your comment. The best bands write their own songs and play their own instruments. When you can do it this good, acoustically, well, you are just a top band. It's just very very good.
