That was the same as being in a paid sensor testing coarse. Brilliantly informative Dave. And yes anyone could have just tried a sensor to see but that isn’t what you are showing, I was welded to it.
I for one am learning a lot from you, brilliant stuff 👏👏👏👏👏
Cheers Peter, means a lot
Really good clear and concise tutorial. Thank you.
That's a cracking how to on abs sensors dave, much appreciated
Experience diagnosis master nice video
Well done Dave another great video well documented 👏👍
Great demo Dave!
thanks for your time great demo
Great video thanks for taking the time to explain
Cheers Dave, I have noticed that when the negative wire is at 0 volts it's the positive wire that is the signal wire, and when the negative wire is around 1 volt it's the negative side that is the signal.
Although I've seen BMW and Mercedes with an unusual signal ( not much happening) on known good directional sensors.
Thanks for the video mate.
Yes Matt, good observation just depends on what pole the module is reading altho the current will flow in and out. You could break into the circuit to measure the mA or wrap say 10 turns of wire around it to make a multiplier for your current clamp. It would be interesting to see what shows on the directional sensor
That’s a great video Dave very informative taught me a thing or two. Poppy growing up fast.
she is indeed Kevin
Very cool video Dave thanks for sharing 👍
No bother Alan, thanks for watching
Good tip for diagnosis. Wee bit deep for me but unexplained it well, thanks 👍
Perhaps you should take up teaching. Very well explained and good that you confirmed that the complete abs circuit was operational as some people may well assume that the sensor is at fault, which it was, but could also have been a an open circuit in the system. This was compulsive viewing.
Cheers Colin, aye we all know what assume means lol
Very good video 👍👍
Another bang on video Dave, don't let the local automotive college see these videos of your buddy , or they will be offering you a job , excellent explained diagnosis and plenty good info there , cheers 👍👍👍
haha mike, last thing i want is a job

Hi Dave, thanks a lot for the lesson! So if there are any rust particles around the magnet ( 12:58 ) the sensor will go crazy, right? My left rear sensor is unstable. It occurred after cleaning the wheels with rust-cleaner product. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've already cleaned the connectors, without success. I haven't tried cleaning the magnet yet.
Dave whereabouts are you? I’m Belfast. Have an issue with vibration in Skoda superb. Got new tyres and wheels balanced still the same
So what your saying you got to strip your rear wheel system apart for that. As its not the sensor ???
So the wheel bearing works like an encoder .
Thanks
first ever paid thanks, cheers Kevin
Should sell them little testers you made
2011 Mk3 Focus titanium with abs / esc lights ...showing rear right wheel speed sensor. Changed that no difference so paid £265 for a mechanic to sort it and it went away. He said it was a wire under the dash 🤔 issue went for 2 months now back...exact same codes and warning lights and haven't a clue tbh ....obviously got ripped off and swapped wheel speed sensors from left to right no difference.....I have a new SKF rear hub / bearing but don't want to waste time swapping it if its something silly.
Dave in honesty you lost me after a few minutes and can't waste more money ... any help?
Just found your video too technical and I haven't all that equipment.... 😢
You may hope the mechanic does not read this, you think 'obviously ripped off' but yet haven't a clue.
@@davesterl I know the guy and have spoken to him. Why tf should I be worried 🤷🏻♂️ 🤣
After the 1st repair I asked what the fault and was told it was a wire under the dash and asked him where to be told he couldn't remember 🤔
The fault is back and he still can't remember what wire 🧐 I've worked on cars since I was 17 ...56 now and no not so good at electrics but run diagnostics on the car yesterday exact same codes and fault ....nothing going to rear right wheel speed sensor so I'll work my way back this time myself and rule out everythingI can...he can't tell me which wire and got cagey ....thanks for your positive input 🤣
@@davesterl oh also said the 2 new Ford Wheel speed sensors i bought were burnt out 🧐 🤣 👍🏻
