G'day, i'm the co-writer and director of Surrogate, thanks to everyone who enjoyed my film and commented. Regarding darkness it's likely the transfer to UA-cam, when it screened in cinemas the night scenes looked great and there is plenty of contrast in the grading to see all the images.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Great plot and the backstory was good enough to keep me guessing and interesting enough to support an emotional ending. The acting was perfect!! Really great actors too. The mom and daughter played great. Congratulations on making a bad ass movie. Please let me know what other works of art you have produced, I'd love to watch or listen to them

This movie is a gem. With better sound effect and CGI, this can be in the top list of horror movies. By the way, horror movie doesn’t mean lights have to turn off all the time. 😂

Absolutely brilliant movie, honestly kept me captivated the whole time. Very impressive and should be very proud to have been part of making such an amazing concept and movie. Well done. I'm a huge fan of these types of films and was running out of good one's to watch and this one was definitely was not a disappointment.

Great Aussie movie. Our movies are so bloody underrated. Look at the likes of The Tail Job or Convict. They were just two others that were great too.

Mary Tudor is the most famous case, where She had all the hallmarks of pregnancy come to full term and even went into labor, with no child in the womb.
She looks evil, maybe the kid was scared of her (if it’s even a female) 😆

know what? i bet when even parents, grown adults as they are, are going around their child's room in an attempt to reassure their child that there's no monsters hiding any where, they're just as scared as the kid is. : )

Good movie and acting, imagine it being played in the cinema a lot of people would have been enjoying it just like i have.
Its a unique film and i like it SPECIALLY because the ending isnt a happy one, making the protagonist look like all other women, and not the chosen one who could defeat the evil because she was smarter or worked harder or was luckier than the rest. I like that in a movie. The realistic touch.

I think that girl is the lady’s daughter the one who Natalie visited at 1:05:25. I guess her daughter wanted Natalie to be her mother instead, because she might be better than her real mom.

This was damn near brilliant! I thought it may be weak because the horror lay only in being accused of what you didn't do, but oh - there's so much more!
So Lisa’s mother killed her in that ramshackle deserted house bcs Lisa the crackpot had drowned her little brother! So many layers of Horror. Thank you to the Creators for such an excellent movie which also explores the Power of a Mother’s Love….to what extent they will go to protect her child and how far she can go as far as sacrifice is concerned. It’s true then evil people can come back as evil spirits!
I haven't seen alot of Australian films (I'm in the uk) but I have come across a quite a few on here and I must say, well done Australia your films are bloody good! 🍻 here's to the next one! If anybody has any recommendations please let me know 👍

I was so wonderfully enrapt by this movie. I LOVED the different ghost/psychic mythologies, PARTICULARLY the "left and right mirrors." WHERE did you come up with that idea, because I want to use it in a story! Also, making the psychic a child with a knowing father is absolutely a tour de force. You have made an EXCELLENT film here; five stars!

Awesome movie. What I loved the most is the medium girl has awesome support of her father which that is incredibly rare. I've always said I'm not jealous or envious. As I have those gifts because I am very sensitive to the spiritual realm and experienced such events like this myself in my lifetime. I'm envious of her, no one believed or supported me. She is very lucky.
Turning to old paganism craft to protect myself from these entities has kept alot of possessing entities like Lisa away from myself and my children who have inherited my gifts.
Phantom pregnancies are real. And should never be taken lightly. Should always dealt with immediately..

NICE MOVIE
We respect all the great comments about this movie, however being honest we did not understand this story /plot at all. Could not find anywhere that gave some explanation about this story. We tried to watch it but gave up at 38:29.
This movie made me wonder if you are legally obligated to let a child services person into your house. Especially the part where she demanded to be left alone with the child, that felt out of line.
Depends on the country tbh. In many european countries, they'll notify you beforehand (might be an hour before, not always days in advance) that they'll be making a visit because of X concerns (supecting you've gotten rid of the baby you supposedly gave birth to is a good enough reason), and you're expected to let them in. You're not legally obliged, they have to come with police to force their entry (which they can do in emergencies), but they'll definitely write it in their report that you "refused to cooperate".
But most of them aren't like the social worker here, if they don't find out anything worrisome enough they don't make it their life's goal to stalk you and harass you until they find something. They have to handle multiple cases each day, many that are more extreme and with real reasons to intervene.

Not to be mean, or to step on anyone's toes, because I appreciate how difficult it must be to write, direct, act, film and edit an entire movie.
I haven't seen all yet. Stuck at the first hospital scene after the "abortion".
First advise: make sure your got your facts straight, from a reliable source, when you want to make a scene that is connected to a real profession or trait or statement.
There will ALWAYS be people who really know what it's like to work a certain job, and that will watch your movie.
Someone who lost THAT much blood and afterwards just lay there with NO transfusion bags for just liquids, leave alone blood???? An abortion this out-of-hand and no sedation or anaesthecia?? Ri-di-cu-lous to anyone that works in that field. For me, the story looses credibility immediately. After that, I personally can't get really get into it anymore because it's just so silly.
And that's what I mean.
I find the acting mediocre. It would be more believable if the little girl showed more emotions, as she visits her mom in hospital. She must have seen all the blood, and the pain her mom was in, as she was rushed of to hospital. She would be upset.
Dr Anti-Abortion is a wuss. The patronising way the lady from child protect services talks to her is disgusting.

This movie reminds me so much of one missed call with naughty arse child but also of the american version of dark water and the Mom.
If you've seen either of these movies and liked them, you'll appreciate this one!!! A mother's love is everything when it comes to protecting their child/ children!!!
One missed call had one my favourite fist half of a movie, the idea of getting the phone call with yourself dying was scary.
