As a pastor or wife of a pastor, when you see a troubled soul, you should be able to identity and also set your boundaries. The couple are two young ,immature and inexperienced people threading very dangerous part.
I’m glad you said that! I was kinda like really? A pastors wife act like that without considering the safety of her family. Letting male stranger/neighbor to your home is a No No to me.
I need to say that in the US often so many people call themselves pastors, who have yes followed christian classes/groups/little studies but rare are those who actually have studied theologia and many are very young. It can be very challenging for churches and wisdom would be to have brothers/elders in Christ to help lead the church. Many because if their young age lack of many things.
We are still accountable for our choices. Boundaries are important too. As Christian woman I have learned to hope for better choices that I’ve made before. We must be careful of who we let into our home.
👀 OH, WOW! Great lesson to be learned, never let your guard down by trusting a stranger! Even if it’s a neighbor, as a woman point of view most men are a step ahead to see if you’re willing! Sin or not, evil never sleeps! AMEN
Women can also be out on the prowl on street corners, the workplace or out to see who they can lure into their homes, and do not make the mistake to think older women are all kindhearted and sincere.
@maricamaas2326. I totally agree. Women aren't always the victim and men are still judged unfairly. We will never know how many men suffer from DV while cops laugh at them when they try to report it. True story. Men and women working together can achieve results and it all starts with children. Teaching them how to handle the bad stuff without violence is the key to ending DV or reducing the numbers. If their mum and dad fight it becomes learned behaviour and they go on to perpetuate it. It's all they know. I've put this to womens groups and they are so embittered they treat me like the enemy, not as a fellow DV survivor wanting to seek ways to create change. I would appreciate your thoughts on this if you have a spare moment.
The friend who is counciling the wife is “spot on” in the advice that she is rendering to the wife!❤ I’m not married, nor, did I ever have a family, but, I understand a lot about spirituality.
Halfway through the movie and I'm hooked. The actor portraying the pastor perfectly embodies the ego-fueled, jealous dude-bro. The neighbor is a perfectly creepy antagonist and the wife is a great doe-eyed oblivious people pleaser.
Idk the whole film kinda shallow to me. I've seen psychopathic and sex offender of priests, but no way they could be so prone to outbursts like that and not in public. And the wife is kinda super stupid, but I guess that summed up most true believers, eh? And the way that nuthead neighbor held the knife in the wrong direction towards the end of the film lmao.
Thanks for this comment because I was skeptical about this movie but since said you were hooked I am definitely going to watch it. I will be back to comment. ☮️💟
The wife was superficial, even though the husband told her not to socialize with a dude they didn’t know anything about, had a very shady behavior and she still she continued to welcome the dude. She needed discernment, connected with the sociopath way more than the husband.
I dont think she wanted to be appreciated She just felt left behind because her husband was not leading her great He should not have pick that secretary #1 Never tempted the devil And #2 he had anger issues that was not fixed before he marry her #3 he is the man and men leads their family for the good of the family not for the good of him ...etc
This is why it's advisable to marry a woman who is intelligent and achievement-oriented, so she can identify a problem before it gets bigger and is not gullible and easily played
@@SunShineLady-d4r Wisdom is a desired trait, which (sadly for most of us) comes slowly - over years; this mainly by making mistakes through our own wrong choices and by failing.
She should have listened to her husband and where is her son. That neighbor is out of control with a vengeance. Being a pastor and a Christian is a hard job. The brother gave him a positive message it was much needed.

Yeah, they are the abused and neglected children that no one had ever cared about. Abuse from a younger age can turn people into psychos. Like in this case, the “creep” is a child who was abused at 6 years old and then picket at in highschool. Is sad…that s why we need to focus on mental health more.
I wouldn’t want a wife like Amber and I wouldn’t let strangers in my hot tub, my home and I wouldn’t accept any gifts from strangers (or so called “neighbors”).
Yesterday, I met an old lady who wanted to give job as a cleaner.I told her I wasn't interested, and that I was a seamstress. She then offered to give me some fabrics . What a gift! I accepted and agreed to go to her house. When she said that I must come in the evening and by myself I got scared. I don't know if I watch too many crime documentary. I just thought of all those people who get kidnapped and are enslaved. So this evening I keep safe at home.
Yes, many things are not shareable even with a close one. Best is prayers or journaling 🎉 Same on how we treat / respect others’ privacy, nvr pry. Also, dont anyhow give out gifts, it’s v individual preference so most of it may go to dustbin and not environmental friendly at all.
They should call the police the moment she discovered the camera in the mirror. She was so nice, too nice with somebody she didn’t know. Well, it’s a movie. Now he feels the same way the neighbor did.
They were very naive from the start...Too polite to just refuse... Letting him inside to install when they were out. Not even check the back of the mirror....and facing toward the bed...I mean cmon???
Totally agree with you I thought the same And never be sorry to go away, pitty is never a good advice, only compassion is good. She was not wise about the neighboor and her husband was unwise for taking a single, young and pretty lady at his office, never temptated the devil
That woman is the worst character in this movie. She's super annoying. Inviting an unknow neighbour inside her Bathtub? What would she do if the table had turned and she met his pastor husband inside tub with a young woman? If you love being angry after watching a movie, you can try this movie.
She didn't invite him to join her into the hot tub. She meant he could use it by himself another day, but he took advantage of her offer, he joined her right then, she was surprised but because of her good manners, she didn't say anything about it. Some women would have told him to get out, that she meant by himself on another day. And obvious from the git go, the neighbour had mental health issues.
@@judy2090 She had no respect for herself, for her husband , for norms of society (including Christian norms). She only thought of being nice, and likeable to someone she knew nothing about.

My ex husband used to say he married me because i was beautiful like the pastor said to the neighbour, you have no idea how much i hated him saying that as looks fade,i wanted him to marry me because he loved me not because of what i looked like, its not a compliment.
Every male married a woman because of the physical. If a male tells his wife any different, he's lying. Where did you get the idea that males care about what's beyond their wife's good looks?
@@heyokakoyeh Men care. You sound ridiculous. Yes, looks are the first thing that they notice...but no man with half a brain is going to marry a woman just for her looks. If what you are saying is true then no wonder society is doomed. 😂

** Spoilers ** Did anyone notice that this is a movie about a Pastor, but we NEVER hear a single word from him at the pulpit? This was intentional. I wanted to create a story where the Pastor's message was communicated by his deeds, rather than his words because people can say anything, but their deeds truly reveal their heart and intentions. Neighbor sums it up at 01:05:12. "You can learn an awful lot about someone by watching them when they don't know it." Also, this film is filled with subtextual imagery if you look closely. A few examples... 1. In the opening sequence, while the family is driving to their new home, we see Pastor Zack in his rear view mirror. He feels on top of the world, like he's living the perfect life, but this is foreshadowing that his neighbor isn't the only one with a "mirror" (secrets). 2. When Zack and Amber discuss getting him into the church, a ceramic mask can be seen in the background of their bedroom. At the end, when he's packing up, he drops a box & this mask is broken. This symbolizes how he had been living his life behind a mask of perfection, and when his life was shattered, so was his mask, forcing him to see himself for what he truly was, and begin the journey of genuinely becoming the person that he had always pretended to be. God is a God of second chances, and this traumatic event has initiated Zack's second chance at dropping the act, and living a genuine and honest life. 3. When Zach makes his first appearance at church, and waves to the congregation, the front of his shirt is neatly pressed and presentable. But the back of his shirt is full of wrinkles. This is because he has worked hard to impress people & sell himself as the perfect Pastor, but behind his back, what he doesn't allow people to see is that he's really a mess. 4. The Neighbor's last childhood memory of being happy was when he was playing with toy cars. If you look closely throughout the movie, there are toy cars in the background of many of his scenes. He even steals the toy car from the two boys in church. There are many others which I won't list because it's more fun to discover them yourself. Thanks again for all of the wonderful comments. This movie was a labor of love, and took several years to get made. Your conversations here a lot of fun to read. Also, one more thing... Dave Payton, who plays the Neighbor, showed up on set in character, and never broke once throughout the production. Halfway through the shoot, my wife and I began to worry that he might really be crazy. Actress Jessica Koloian (Amber) was legitimately terrified of him throughout the production. In the scene where she approaches the door with the knife shaking behind her back, I kept telling her to tone down the shaking, but she couldn't because she was so genuinely scared. Then, at the world premiere in Orlando, Dave shook Jessica's hand, and introduced himself by saying, "Hi, I'm Dave. We haven't met." - George Writer/Director/Producer, THY NEIGHBOR
I appreciate a good thriller but anything that hinges on religion creeps me out. Your imagery is on another level. Kudos. Ps: I am going to look for a good feel movie to get the bad taste out of my mouth
She should have listened to the husband . She had no business over there. The muslims believe that a man should never cross the threshold unless the husband is present. Excellent advice!
@@StacieJoyner I am not a Muslim, but when I was a young girl I was taught that I should never let a man into my room when I was alone, nor go into his room. It is true that by following this rule you avoid a lot of problems. Now the movie is based upon a very peculiar culture : in certain Protestant churches, a pastor's wife is supposed to support her husband's work by visiting people, including aging, physically challenged and sick people. There are no specific instructions concerning mentally disturbed people, but I asked myself this question many times. In my activity as a deacon I made it a rule, I don't visit lonely men and I don't let them into my apartment.
This was a good thriller really enjoyed this movie 🎉 the neighbour was obsessed with pastors wife he played part of been unhinged very well great acting all round 👏definitely was one to watch 👌🙌❤️
Wow--a Christian thriller! Loved it! What I got is that you need to pray to the Holy Spirit before you go evangelizing to people. Just like you ask someone before you can pray for them, you need to do the same in evangelizing--otherwise you risk opening yourself up to demons. Also, when doing door-to-door ministry, if you know it's a single man and he's not elderly, it's a good idea to bring your spouse, or at least another adult, NOT you and your young child. Thanks for uploading!😊😊😊
Yea, pray and ask some spirit protection to The lord b4 you go to preach.... So that you can control you self being mad easily... But sometimes, being angry is not bad too, especially when you're right but no one believes you.. remember, Jesus was mad too when he found out that people make his church like a market place before...
People need to be careful. You can not trust everyone. The way that he only wants to talk to her and for her to be the only one to come every Thursday with cookies is strange. People keep your eyes open, ears open, hands open and mouth shut so you can receive the message from God.
I stopped evangelizing long long long ago it brought me a lot of grief harm, and of course don't ever do it in My own strength until God willing says more with somebody other than that no way NO way! And it's only a movie it's a little bit comical, I don't think pastors that are driven by the holy Spirit would even hire a female assistant in the first place neither

this is exactly what most of the churches look like who don't allow God to call them and qualify them to the ministry. Just because you wrote a book doesn't mean you're supposed to be a pastor. This is definitely not what should be happening and yet, it's so prevalent in our society today with social media platforms and many of them are not actually living for God and shouldn't be leading.
Because I lived in diff countries, occidental ones... I can say that its mostly American. I went to so many churches and its young pastors, people wear all fancy like they go to a special place to show off and talk is almost like screaming in the micro Perso I did not like it None of them have studied theology and all of them except 2 churches I was invited to said that "ppl with big studios blablabla, they arr no better" I was very surprised why pastors judge those who actually STUDIED christianity to be closer to God, its crazy to me

As a pastor or wife of a pastor, when you see a troubled soul, you should be able to identity and also set your boundaries. The couple are two young ,immature and inexperienced people threading very dangerous part.
Yas, they actin' a little fast and loose, huh?! Crazy! You have a hot tub too? 😮
The pastors wife is too naive in the church
I’m glad you said that! I was kinda like really? A pastors wife act like that without considering the safety of her family. Letting male stranger/neighbor to your home is a No No to me.
Give me a lesson.
AMEN
Best not to start with a soak in a hot tub too I'm thinkin.' Maybe it's just me. Lol
I would appreciate your thoughts on this if you have a spare moment.

no you dont. ask anybody.
How stupid can a wife be?? Lord above she’s the stupidest 😂

Yeah, they are the abused and neglected children that no one had ever cared about. Abuse from a younger age can turn people into psychos.

@@heyokakoyeh Men care. You sound ridiculous. Yes, looks are the first thing that they notice...but no man with half a brain is going to marry a woman just for her looks. If what you are saying is true then no wonder society is doomed. 😂

What else could he be wanted,
Water?
A spade?

Or bible??
Liked the story.
Robert was creepy.
It is called thy neighbor LOL
** Spoilers ** Did anyone notice that this is a movie about a Pastor, but we NEVER hear a single word from him at the pulpit? This was intentional. I wanted to create a story where the Pastor's message was communicated by his deeds, rather than his words because people can say anything, but their deeds truly reveal their heart and intentions. Neighbor sums it up at 01:05:12. "You can learn an awful lot about someone by watching them when they don't know it."
Also, this film is filled with subtextual imagery if you look closely.
We haven't met."

Spoiler alert. But I'll come back to this comment at the end. I love a good thriller

A very good movie, one of those rare movies that make one think and ask oneself the right questions.

Fantastic this kept me on my toes brilliant film thanks to all that made it and all the people in it thank you ❤❤❤❤
Wow--a Christian thriller!
What absolute rubbish, demons do not exist, stop with the BS., keep your super-natural, make believe to yourself! Stop spreading mindless drivel!
