@@TinyBearTim I believe it is only crashes/issues that caused the deaths, a few may have been caught on the ground after the allies realised there was 0 point chasing it till it almost landed
@@TinyBearTim yes the fuel was extremely volatile, contact with anything other than the fuel tank would cause ignition, including fabric (they had specialised gloves but not suits)
I seem to recall that there was a proposal for a pusher prop version of this plane. I womder of this might have been safer for the pilots and how it would have performed,
This isn’t using a jet engine , there were jets before the 262 that could have gone in to combat but there was no reason too There were 262s and other jets with boosters tho
Would i have flown it? HELL NO. Dear god no. I can barely contain myself in a Cesna! Absolutely not. But if i were comfortable and proficient as a pilot. Maybe.
What amazes me most is they are STILL the ONLY rocket-propelled fighter aircraft used in combat.
Ah yes, the Pinnacle of german engineering, killing more pilots that enemies.
The komets did shoot down some b17s but alot were lost to blowing up on takeoff and landing
9 kills 11 deaths I think, all accidents
@@Gunthazv2do crashes or issues count towards the combat record or only deaths due to being shot ?

Amazing aviation technology back then
And as always we learned they were too little too late

It would have performed like all pushers of the inter war period. Worse than they expected while it constantly overheated.
...fascinating aircraft, sans doute.
Hanna described it like flying a bowling ball
Best airplane..to go for a "rip" I recall flying these..in my former life.
I wonder if it came with pumps so you can dump the fuel?
Wonder if they put all the resources from this thing into jets if they would have a cheap early jet.

You only live twice Mr bond
Why do UA-camrs keep putting on backing music to commentaries, it sucks
you know of course. that the winner of any war. is going to say . that the enemys grear was crap --dont you ?

As much as the fuel being slightly warmer and the tubes being slightly colder than normal could cause it to explode
370 was a lot !
Gaijin: hm yes its superior to mig 15
