Denzel is such a great actor. You can see the way he gives the performance depth and realism by knowing when to listen, when to express anger, when to hide his feelings. I can see Frank thinking, calculating his moves, and every time he finds a way out, Richie is standing there in front of him, waiting for him. Richie is smart, he got it all figured out, and Frank has to accept the deal & surrender to this knowing that it's the only way for him to win. We can see Frank's ego, his cleverness, his wounds, his aspirations all in this one scene, because Denzel knows when to speak, or listen, or react.
Did anyone notice the way he put Trupo away as the last one to give up? In my opinion he did it to kill him. That is, he wanted to kill him before he got caught and his mother stopped him and he made Trupo see his associates getting caught one after another and Trupo realized that the circle is getting close and he didn't want to go to prison bc he'd have the hardest life in there, so he killed himself and by doing so Frank achieved what he was trying to achieve. Amazing!
Perfect ending. Richie got revenge on those who outcasted him for doing the right thing and Frank got revenge on the very men who made him hate the police, the ones who shove shotguns that kid's heads and blackmailed him later on
Yep that is true because the mob wanted Ritchie off the streets but short lived the mob can celebrate because RICO act got them all later the Gotti's of the world
The thing that gets me about this scene is that the cop basically admitted that they know the Italians are dealing drugs but only want to bring frank down
I saw a documentary about Frank Lucas which stated that he was actually deliberately flamboyant and flash and that he chose to wear the fur coat and hat. Apparently he was more like Nicky Barnes in real life as opposed to the low-key reserved businessman he is in the movie. Also, i read that he wasnt as heavily involved with the Mafia in real life as the movie makes out. Either way this is a great film, and quite underrated
You want to be a gangster don’t involve family, don’t have a wife, don’t trust or help the people that grew up with you when they ask to get in with you. He messed up by involving his family and his family burned him. You trust yourself and only your business. You have to sacrifice and be by yourself in this bizz. Only way to stay on top trust absolutely nobody
When Frank saw that threat didn’t move Ritchie at 2:05, that’s what prompting him to snitch. He knew bribery won’t work on Ritchie and now threats won’t work either. And you can tell his ego was bruised when Ritchie said “get in line, b/c that one stretches around the corner”
Unfortunately, too often corruption is defined by party affiliation. It is automatically assumed if you're part of one party, or the other, you're inheritanly corrupt, as 'all [blank] are corrupt' ... ... which, I will wager, is one of the worst fallacies there are, as it makes massive assumptions about a person's integrity and character ...
@@xeroxbrother8223 Absolutely ... ... but, that is such a large issue, especially when you throw drugs, illegal gambling, and the ever present prostitution, into the mix, simply taking the foot soldiers off of the streets isn't enough ... Personally, I would love to see an all-in Task Force, combining the FBI, DEA, and ATF, called, say, Operation Clean Sweep, whose targets are not 'just' the street level thugs, but those whom are in control, as far up as it goes, using the full powers of the USAG, the DoJ, and Treasury ... it will take decades, and a specific prison (identical to ADX Florence) may have to be built, but if a President-Elect is damn serious, especially about crime and corruption, then no half measures should be taken ...
It was a great movie, even if of questionable accuracy. Denzel was great as usual. So were Russell Crowe, Josh Brolin, and a host of others. It is an artistic masterpiece. But don't confuse it with a documentary. Appreciate it as a fictional story with a loose association to reality.

Perfect ending. Richie got revenge on those who outcasted him for doing the right thing and Frank got revenge on the very men who made him hate the police, the ones who shove shotguns that kid's heads and blackmailed him later on
" Frank, get in line. That one stretches around the block too"! The perfect mixture of no fear and self loathing.
I love how the cup of tea/coffee became almost like a chess piece during the tail end of the conversation
I can't get the Denzel Washington parody out of my head every time he hits the cup😅🤣😂😂😂
Istg Kingbach is too funny 🤣 😂 .
The way he convinced himself that it was what he wanted to do so he could feel okay with having to do something he didn’t want to do.
When Richie said you represent progress this was definitely true back in that time…
@@unknowncaller1879 Yes definitely even to this day sir
Yep that is true because the mob wanted Ritchie off the streets but short lived the mob can celebrate because RICO act got them all later the Gotti's of the world
4:55 best part of the movie he's helping em by rearranging pictures lmaoooooo what a king 😂
Even Thanos couldn't snap his way out of this one
Russell didn't even flinch when Denzel slapped that cup. Legendary.
Spot on by Richie. It's really not what you say, but what others hear.
As soon as Frank Lucas said “my man” he knew he was done😂
Denzel Washington is the GREATEST actor of ALL time. Period
Greatest black actor of all time but Al Panico gets the nod here
@@eaglefang8656 Daniel Day Lewis clears them all

It's no Denzel movie without him saying "my man".
Two legends in one dialogue
They both should've at least been nominated, based on this scene alone.
Denzel - Lead n Crowe - Supporting.
You know what's the difference between a criminal and an honest man?
No matter how much he hates the other, a criminal always respects an honest man.
The thing that gets me about this scene is that the cop basically admitted that they know the Italians are dealing drugs but only want to bring frank down
No, Richie says “I’ll get them too” about other criminals, and I think what he was really after was the corrupt cops that Frank could provide him
The coffee cup slide was classic
One of the greatest movie scenes ever !!
Thanks for the advice Al Capone 😂
Don’t invest trust in friends or family
Always looking over your shoulder. Fuck that.
Thanks for letting us know 😂
Okay, Tony Montana.
'hey Frank... Get in line, that one stretches around the block too'
That line 🔥
Hell ya dawg
magnificent exchange by two actors at the top of their game.
Wish they did that with cops who abuse their power across this country
The greatest actor of all time. DW
"You ARE special"
He saved Trupo for last.
Denzel always says ma man all the time in every gangster movie he in Denzel "my man "Washington

@@felixmorar8203 😂for real bro he said it in the little things film wich was wack
When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object…
Unstoppable force crumbled 😉
Richie Roberts goes from cop to prosecutor.
This movie is a masterpiece. It can never be done again. Russell and Denzel are so good at each of their own roll. Goosebumps.
Denzel Washington is Legend..
The acting of Denzel man 😭
When Frank saw that threat didn’t move Ritchie at 2:05, that’s what prompting him to snitch. He knew bribery won’t work on Ritchie and now threats won’t work either. And you can tell his ego was bruised when Ritchie said “get in line, b/c that one stretches around the corner”
What did he mean by get in line , that one stretches around the block too?
@@doperinno136 people have tried and failed, frank is no different. He can get in line and try too.
@@JA-ru3il Ty now i get it
crowe and denzel really made this movie great. they chose the perfect actors to represent frank and richie
Great scene, Denzil is a legend and one of the best to ever do it. But make no mistake, Russel Crowe is different class also. Two of the very best! 💯
these Denzel Washington random movie clips UA-cam is putting in my timeline ❤️
This is a great story. I wish someone would take down all of today's corrupt cops and politicians publicly.
@@xeroxbrother8223
Absolutely ...
... but, that is such a large issue, especially when you throw drugs, illegal gambling, and the ever present prostitution, into the mix, simply taking the foot soldiers off of the streets isn't enough ...
Personally, I would love to see an all-in Task Force, combining the FBI, DEA, and ATF, called, say, Operation Clean Sweep, whose targets are not 'just' the street level thugs, but those whom are in control, as far up as it goes, using the full powers of the USAG, the DoJ, and Treasury ... it will take decades, and a specific prison (identical to ADX Florence) may have to be built, but if a President-Elect is damn serious, especially about crime and corruption, then no half measures should be taken ...
should of been a sequel to this movie,1 of best movies ever made
It was a great movie, even if of questionable accuracy. Denzel was great as usual. So were Russell Crowe, Josh Brolin, and a host of others. It is an artistic masterpiece. But don't confuse it with a documentary. Appreciate it as a fictional story with a loose association to reality.
Russell Crowe & Denzel Washington were simply brilliant in this film. What a combo👍👍
Denzel Washington is a fucking amazing actor. Hands down best actor on earth.
Imagine being in the room watching this performance when Denzel smacked the coffee cup.
Denzel is such a kick ass actor, he is absolutely on the same level as Pacino who I consider the greatest
God damn, this scene was excellent! Each characters dialogue and tone.
get in line. that one stretches around the block too.
brilliant. Frank does not intimidate Richie one bit.
One of the greatest scenes
The back and forth cup slide was slick!
Amazing scene. World classic!
I`ve seen this movie on cinema at the time....it was somthing special for me...somehow inspired me...pointless to say is in my top 3 all time movies
You represent progress!. the kind of progress that's going to see then lose a lot of money. 👊0:55
Such an awesome film. This is a film that never gets old, I can watch it any time. Both these fellas were top shelf at their roles in this film. We all know Denzel was fantastic as ever, but Russell Crowe I feel didn’t get as much praise for how well he portrayed this role. Even got the working-class NYC accent down well.
