The Three Things You Need To Do To Feel GREAT with Michelle Griffith Robinson

  • What does a former Olympic athlete and personal trainer for the likes of Spice Girl Mel B, and TV presenter Gail Porter do to stay feeling on top of their game? You’d be surprised, because it’s not much different to what we mortals try to incorporate into our day. And what they do is free! 🙌
    I sat down with former Olympian and now a fellow midlife champion Michelle Griffith Robinson, to have a conversation about what we can do to help ourselves feel good, to stop self-sabotaging, and to make the most of the one life we are all given. Oh my goodness, this was powerful! It was my favourite kind of conversation because it was filled with twists and turns, and we talked about everything!
    We discussed:
    🙂 How to transition from one career to another, when all you have known is how to train and perform. Start preparing for your next role before you need it. Lay foundations, start building things up so that when the time comes you have something in place. It doesn’t matter if you are an athlete or an accountant - planning and putting steps in motion is key.
    🙂 What if you don’t know how to do thing you want to do? Ask for help. Don’t let ‘not knowing’ be the reason why you don’t try something. Look at people who are doing what you want to do and ask them what they did to get there. You are not reinventing the wheel, there will always be people who have done what you want to do, you will just be doing it in your own way.
    🙂 How do you regain your confidence in midlife? Really nail down exactly what it is you are struggling with. It might feel like it’s ‘everything’, but chances are it’s only a few things that are making you feel bad. Is it your weight? Your health? Is it your fashion style? Your relationship? Your job? Dig down into what it is and then ask yourself what you would change about it if you could. If time and money weren’t an issue, what would you do? Now how can you make that happen?
    🙂 How do you overcome FEAR? FEAR is just False Evidence Appearing Real. Are you making up your own bad story, your own unhappy ending?
    🙂 How do you find what brings you joy? Ask yourself: When was a time you remember feeling good. What were you doing? Who were you with? Why was it so good? What part of that would you like to do again? How can you make that happen?

    Love the 3 leg stool visualisation. Very useful guidance on how to think of what brings you joy, and to build out on that from "I love music, to putting that music on and dancing around at home to booking a class. And also great to be reminded to live our life, now. Loved this conversation. Fun, insightful, touching and inspirational. Thanks both.
