    It is reassuring to see how smoothly Germany and the United Kingdom collaborate on such projects. Sometimes Germany buys weapons from the United Kingdom, sometimes it is the other way around, and occasionally weapons are developed jointly. You never read about disputes over who does what, who does not want to share certain technologies, etc. It is exactly the opposite of the collaborations with France.

      Deutscher 59.

    The ‘RCH-155′ Boxer is a further development of the ‘PzH 2000’ warhead. The development manager had the idea to put the module on a wheeled warhead. The concept was created more than 10 years ago, but then it was not appreciated either in Germany or in the US.

    It rocks quite a bit, which would normally affect accuracy, thet could have put 4 rapid deploying hydraulic or air cushioned pads on it, however these days they use guided amunition, so I'm guessing it's less of a problem. However the Boxer does seem to be lugging that around with slight difficulty, I'm surprised they didn't add an extra axle and some length to the chassis for this particular model.

    • @TheGast4321

      The rocking after the shot does not affect accuracy, even with normal unguided ammunition. The system can even fire from move (moving slowly).

    • @dc-4ever201
      @dc-4ever201 8 днів тому

      @@TheGast4321 I've seen the video of it firing on the move, however it's one thing to show that and another not to show the result of that outgoing fire and as a taxpayer, I'm sick and tired of Defence contractors pouring honey in the ears of Generals/Admirals selling them hardware that doesn't measure up to what was promised. I also care for a former Royal Artilleryman who saw this and thought they'd stuck a naval turret on an IFV, I said nope it's bigger it's a 155mm. He also questioned accuracy when most of the new weapons are designed around rapid fire shoot and scoot, this thing wobbling a lot in between shots reduces how fast you can fire meaning more time sat there vulnerable to counter battery fire. Firing artillery on the move is only good for guided projectiles.

    Doesn't appear to be a very stable platform - the recoil effect on the chassis is pronounced and must affect accuracy whilst the round is travelling in the barrel. Any RA big gun experts out there?

    • @Celeon999A
      @Celeon999A 9 днів тому +4

      That would matter for a machinegun but not for a "slow" firing artillery. The shell exits the barrel at a speed of around 950 to 1000 meters per second. So the recoil behaviour of the gun or plattform is of absolutely no signifiance to its trajectory. Its muuuuch, too fast for that to matter. There are around 7.5 seconds between each shot at the fastest firing speed. The recoil movements after a shot last for around 4 seconds. So the movements are long over before the next shell is ready to be fired.

      Boxer with the RCH 155 module can fire on the move and is as accurate when firing on the move as when stationary in tests. The gun fires when at the correct angle. RCH stands for Remote Control Howitzer.

    • @dc-4ever201
      @dc-4ever201 9 днів тому

      I'm guessing with today's precision self guiding rounds, the loss of accuracy when firing is negated. However dumbfire rounds won't be accurate after the first one, it needs a blade or 4 hydrogas legs to help alleviate the recoil.

    • @williamzk9083
      @williamzk9083 8 днів тому +1

      @@dc-4ever201 No doubt the increase in the use of guided rounds helps but It's as accurate with dumb rounds on the move as when stationary. The gun fires when it is aligned at the correct angle so any wobble from recoil or rough ground is compensated. This is how WW2 battle ship did it as well. I think movement will actually help align the gyro-compass.
      -The RCH gun will fit in the Boxer module.

      You obviously don’t understand how hulls are made you can have a MBT and Artillery on the same hull and they could have a common hull while also having different thicknesses of armour as what people don’t seem to get is common hull doesn’t mean identical.
      Even the Challenger had a Artillery variant and a Anti-Air variant and the Centurion was used for both as well.
