  • Like any technique, there's a spectrum of skill level.
    'Optimal' Frenzel can be used safely & effectively to depths of +60m, and even for shallower divers it's worth learning because it can remove common issues like contractions during the descent, shallow squeezes, and EQ failure in the 30-40m range.
    In this video I explain & demo 'optimal frenzel', and share 4 dry exercises you can use to develop the skill level to frenzel in a more efficient & effective way.

    I’ve a lot of Frenzel exercise videos, and this one breaks it down the clearest.

      Thanks Richard! I actually had the idea from a guy who does singing-lessons. Basically using sounds or 'over-the-top' actions to create the feeling & timing of the technique vs trying to use 'typical awareness exercises' which are hard to explain & easier to make mistakes while doing.

    That's really a good video to explain complicate issue with simplicity. Have u tried doing reverse pack on an eq tool (ubaproject that one)? Whenever doing the reverse pack, i experience negative spikes which they said becos i open my soft palate when doing reverse pack. Do u close ur soft palate when doing reverse pack? I find it super hard to do so😢

    During my freedive course i would run out of air in my mouth at around 10m mark and could no longer equalise with frenzel. I must have been using bad technique, this is the first source of information that i have heard mention refilling the oral cavity with air. Thanks!

      Hey.. Many divers do what I explained 'naturally' / without thinking about it and unfortunately if they haven't gone through the process of fully understanding the mechanics of it, they often cannot teach or problem solve that aspect of EQ.
      I'm glad this cleared things up for you. Hopefully it helps you maintain your air supply below 10m

    Thank you !!! Been stuck with regular frenzel at 20m for eternity, switched to 1 big reverse pack frenzel at 20m wich took me to 25m, been stuck forever.
    With good frenzel ,do you do mini grouper calls or do you pull the larynx so low it happens naturally? Last sounds easyer, but grouper calls seem more controllable on the amount of air going up.
    Ps love your channel. You are underrated !

      If I understand your question right, the answer is NEITHER...
      1: I dont do grouper calls. These can be a good tool to learn how / when to RP, but you want to eliminate the noise as soon as possible.
      2: the reverse packs I do are immediately after the EQ, from the top. So larynx moves up (point a to point b) to make the EQ. Then to RP, you do this from point B back to point A (returning the larynx back to resting position). This is what makes it so efficient (only the minimum ammount if movement & air being done).

    Thats one of the best frenzel eq videos ever, all my mistakes in the first 3mins , i face squeezes at as shallow as 16-18-20 m cause i was doing the 1 st mistake don’t allow air to flow behind my tongue then by time i solved this issue by the second case , big reverse pack fill air it took me to 25m , now i am stuck at 27m. With the same technique cause i swallow at around 25-26 m & feel pressure on my chest so may be failure depth for me Rv, my chest isn’t flexible enough.

    • @brunoramospereira9219

      I have the exact same thing.
      Big rv, face squueze at 15m, big reverse pack at 20m, swallow air at 26m. Cant eq lower

    How come that you can refill once lungs are on RV? Is it because only small amount of air refill, because below 30 getting air from lungs to mouth becomes really difficult, but I’m talking about bigger volume. Also this move opens and closes glotis naturally with the move, correct?

    My problem is when I reach 15 meters I start to engage My abs to refill ! I can refill on dry fine even with empty lungs ! And same for the first 15 meters ! After 15 meters I find it hard to refill without engaging My abs ! Any tips ? Thank u

    Hello Nathan , I'm going to 45m just doing frenzel and I really don't have the feeling of refilling anything . Maybe I just do it naturally ... I haven't switched to mouthfill yet . To be perfectly honest I don't want to switch till equalisation become an issue ...

    • @trainfreediving2772
      @trainfreediving2772  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Sophie,
      Well, if you are getting to 45m without feeling the refill, the good news is that you're already using proper frenzle technique: EQ + Relax muscles with open throat.. this is what I call "passive airshift". The refill is perfectly integrated into your technique !!
      Also, complelty agree with your long term approach.
      The best EQ advice I ever got was "use relaxed Frenzel (what your doing) as long as possible before adding mouthfill or packing". This will help you use better EQ technique later on..

    Hello do you think is Otovent good tool for EQ exercises ? At least for beginers... ?

    • @trainfreediving2772
      @trainfreediving2772  2 роки тому +2

      No,
      I think the otovent (balloons right?) Is actually the worst thing to use.
      The problem is that it allows (and teaches) too large a range of motion since the balloon can expand so much.
      This gets divers using too much larynx movement underwater and increases the risk of either loosing air or squeezing (in my opinion).
      I've had much more success teaching EQ (frenzel and mouthfill) with just the noseclip: usually fixing problems that I believe we're partly created by balloon training.

    I do frenzel, need to work on refilling. I can do the refill from video without sound, but have to try it in the water and learn to remember to do so, But one question:
    When I equalize I often make a squeeking sound as I increase the pressure in my mout. This sound I belive is from air escaping back down to the lungs. Could you make a video talking about this and how I can overcome it. I belive that this can really get me to the next equalizing level.
    I passed my CMAS*** freediving course yesterday, but if I wanna push in to instructor or the APNEA sertifications I need to improve this problem I have.

    • @SindreEide93
      @SindreEide93 3 місяці тому

      @@martinkudlacek487 i for sure check it out. I can close and open it by will. Still I know the problem comes from it opening under the pressure of the equalization. That's my biggest problem freediving and I bet ya I could go allot deeper if I fixed this problem.

    So basically you recommemd reverse packing at every eq. How about doing it every 2 eqs?

    • @trainfreediving2772
      @trainfreediving2772  Місяць тому

      Well I reccomend {reverse packing every EQ with a particular tongue position (H) and a particular timing (right after EQ, not before or between them)}..
      Why not every 2.. the more air you make available, the easier it will be to reverse pack as you get deeper.
      Waiting every 2 might work well for 20-30m, but it stops working easily after that
