  • An Aer Lingus A321N performing flight EIN11J from Dublin to Philadelphia was enroute at FL330 about to enter Oceanic Airspace when the pilots reported a fuel issue and most likely would be diverting to Shannon or Dublin.

    They landed safely and any problems were taken care of and they were back in the air a few hours later. I'm just a sucker for a good happy ending. So glad it ended well.

    03:43 captions say "see you soon" but the controller actually said "safe home". It's an Irish expression that I love for its beauty and simplicity. Everyone always wants to get safely home. "Slán abhaile" 🍻

      Thomas Mortimore it’s probably noticed more over the Atlantic, as if you’re over Europe/land there’s plenty of places to drop into if your fuel is reducing quicker than predicted. Seeing as it’s most likely an indicator fault I’d continue over land, but wouldn’t risk it over water, so you pick up more diversions.

    • @bengoldstraw1904
      @bengoldstraw1904 4 роки тому

      Sebastian Chan I think he was approving high speed to facilitate the crew getting the height off. My guess anyway. It happens a lot where I fly in in the UK as you get kept high due to airspace restrictions so have to high speed dive to reduce altitude quickly. 🤷‍♂️

    • @ukLeeham720
      @ukLeeham720 4 роки тому

      She's saying "expect fly at least half the arrival", not "high speed". She will vector the inbound traffic when they are close, it helps with spacing. If you check the STAR charts for 28, there's a lot of waypoints in between the ones shown on the videos map.

    I'm confused, they had low fuel issues or fuel flow indicator issues? What happens if an aircraft have a low fuel warning which they believe to be incorrect but would be overweight for landing if it is incorrect? Given that they can't be certain either way, do they burn/dump or land overweight?

    • @VASAviation
      @VASAviation  4 роки тому

      They had flow indication issues. If you have low fuel indications, you don't risk burning, you land whatever your weight is.

    Like others have said on similar videos; it's funny how they don't seem to like to declare emergencies. . . . Yeah, our indicators aren't telling us how much fuel we have. We need to return to where we came from. But just for fun. No emergency!

      @@ronik24 Aer Lingus ist not a low cost carrier - that´s definetely Ryanair in Ireland. Aer Lingus is part of the International Airlines Group (owning also British Airways, Iberia and the Spanish low cost carrier Vueling) and the flag carrier of Ireland. Ireland is the "Westend" of Europe and insofar it´s possible to cross the Atlantic with an A 321 neo LR - from other parts of Europe it´s not. And Ireland had almost before Corona not so many PAX flying over the Atlantic that an A 330 was everytime necessary.

    I seen quite the screw up overall, but not on the the part of EIN11J. ATC should learn something from this overlay of inbound traffic in retrospect.! Not Good At All...! Getting back to 11J , they left without enough fuel on board which should have noticed prier to take off.! Regardless of any circumstances.! Wake Up...! Snap Out Out OF It.!
