Neil Young just may my favorite guitar player of all time. This is the best version and performance of Southern Man I've ever heard from Neil Young. I never knew how amazing his guitar skills were. He does it all. And his voice sounds better than ever. Good Lord. This is pure perfection. I only wish I was there.

Am I going to assume you have notions of anthropological sociology or psychiatry?
No, I'm just going to assume you see the world as you desire it to be. And sadly it's extremely limited, based on few societal examples, and a short timescale.
No harm there though, it's a common perception of our kind.
Though you seem to have a hive-like approach of what people are/do, that's quite interesting/original. Usually people bring this down to the individual basis.
And you do have some right as to how the "amorphous" people might behave, exhibiting seemingly intrinsic properties, but most of them are die-hard social constructs, the equivalent of the individual's bad habits. Change the programming, and everything changes, potentially in very unpredictable even counter-intuitive ways, which is something we have yet to master.

    • @jimihd1
      @jimihd1 8 років тому +1

Wasteland Courier I don't know what world you live, but the world I live shows people making the same mistakes that past people made. People are usually too egocentric, people on command of nations and big companies are very egocentric too, just like they were in the past.

Only because of the social relevance, especially in light of the on going debate over the 1860"s American war of succession (Not civil war). The culprits were the "British Empire" and quite of few unpatriotic Americans who thought the now fused and fighting colonies should go back to the "mother england" (caps left out on purpose), and the French Cronies in Mexico. That war was much deeper than just American Slavery. Neil Young puts an all star ethnic cast on stage to make this point.

Yeah we're still working with in Los Angeles.
Lilly Bell your hair is burnin' brown.
Not sure when this video's from but it looks like
normal rehersal in la in '77 or so.
Probably started getting it up in '61 or so.
They talk so fast I understand in real time but later
only remember the gist, not the actual catchy words.
Just the normal noises around here.
I saw Lynyrd Skynyrd in Pomona a couple years ago and they were
really good. They said everyone's invited into their family.
Some other night Blondie came and gave a fabulous show.
Oh, and that other band called War, that was good.

Southern Man came out in 1970 and Neil's Alabama from the Harvest album came out in 72 . LS wrote their song in 73. Alabama was a lot more specific to the State about current issues than Southern Man was talking about slavery 150 years ago.

All those people on stage, and Neil is the only one playing the guitar. Unless there's someone I don't see. Neil is in fine form, both vocals and guitar.

Great rendition, although I'm not keen on all the brass. But does he miss the usual first verse ("I saw cotton, and I saw black, Tall white mansions, and little shacks, Southern man, when will you pay them back?"), and sing the second twice (the one about Lilly Belle)?

Oh God.....When will people learn the truth and how many more years of paying back does it take? No one alive today did anything to anyone alive today. Somethings need to be let go and we all need to move forward.

+Ben Haley Yeah, I agree about the horns. They're distracting.
