Dean Town - Bass Cover and Lesson - Request
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 лют 2018
- Hello :) This is the requested transcription I did of the Vulfpeck song "Dean Town" that Joe Dart played bass on.
This transcription can be found at www.muzento.com under Advanced - Learning Songs subject.
The difficult parts on this one (for me) are the steady stream of 16ths and making sure to count the rhythms.
PLEASE NOTE: The first bar of letter C, D and F. Beat 3. The rhythm is correct but the notes should be D#, A together and E, A together.
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy :)

Thank you for making videos.
what a nice thing to say :) Thank you :)
Greg Fairweather I’ve been playing bass for close to 2 1/2 years now, and I still struggle wi some of these harder songs and timing. I found your videos recently and they have been a blast to play along with. I’m interested in your bass course as well when I get home from work I’ll be taking a look into your program. Keep it up man❤️
Good job!
Hi Bart...thanks man...I appreciate it...cheers!
I love this song.
me too :)
How many languages do you speak?
Just the one...but I'm learning a new one :) How many languages do you speak?
One
been learning off this tutorial which has been tremendously helpful so thank you...but got the first couple phrases down up to about 2 minutes playing along at your 105 tempo, was feeling confident decided to try to play along to the actual song and that tempo is at least 120-125, that dude is a monster jesus
Hi M R! Thanks for the comment. I'm really glad the video has been helping you...thanks for letting me know. As for the tempo. The song is at 105! So you've been playing the song at the tempo all this time! :) Yes, Joe Dart is a monster, no doubt! Thanks :)
I think joe dart is my bassist idol now after listening to there music
great job thanks. btw love the dancing
haha...thanks :) I don't think it's dancing so much as to just trying to keep and feel the beat ;)

Merci merci bcp wowwwwwwww je suis trop content super i love you thank You
You're welcome :) Glad you're happy with it ;)
Greg Fairweather je suis tellement content ! Merci d'être aussi modeste et sympa avec moi ! Rare de trouver des bassistes comme vous !
Et si vous voulez d'avantage je vous recommanderai des grooves comme celui Pirates of Careabean !
Great tutorial, thanks so much! This has been very helpful. Do you take requests often for other songs to cover and do a lesson on?
Hey Harry! I'm really glad you found this helpful...thanks for letting me know ;) I do take requests...what are you thinking of?
@@BassCovers I've been wanting to learn You May Crawl by School Food Punishment for a long time.
@@harryduff1332 Hi Harry. That's an interesting request. I've never heard these guys before. It's pretty different from what I normally would learn or listen to. I'll add it to the list though and give it a closer listen when its time comes...hope that will work for you? Thanks :)
@@BassCovers it sure will! I appreciate you taking the time to listen to it. I love the bass lines in that band, hope you can appreciate them for that.
pls tell us how you got that tone
'76 Fender Jazz with EMG's, EQ and a bit of compression.
Did I just see right?...at 2:17 of the video, You wrote a 5/4 bar before the "E" part of the song, then a 4/4 bar and then a 3/4 bar which in turn adds up to the same as if you would have done everything in 4/4? ... what´s up with that?
phrasing. I guess i could've made a 7/4 bar, but I'd rather read a 3/4 then a 4/4...if that's ok with you...haha :P
Greg Fairweather but still when the whole tune is in 4/4 ...?? Why make it more complicated than it already is?
It is making it easier. Having phrases go over bar lines and start in the middle of a bar is more complicated than having them grouped to start at the beginning of each bar...
Tabs should be on top of video. When you hit pause on UA-cam fully screen the bottom part gets blocked out with video suggestions (on mobile anyway). Otherwise great video! Thanks!
Yes, I agree it's better when everything is on top. I've since changed my layout. On my laptop, going to fullscreen helps minimize the blocking. We should bring it up with UA-cam. Make the controls under the video instead of on-top of it...simple enough? Anyway...thanks! :)
I signed up but I didn’t find the song, where is it???
Did you sign up for an advanced Lesson Plan??? What's your user name??? Did you think about contacting Muzento???
@@BassCovers I just signed up as advanced player, but this song isn't among the songs. Do you mean I have to pay for it as advanced lesson?
@@pavele.6304 Pavel - I just checked the advanced lesson plan (I have one myself) and I found the song...I don't know why you're not? You get a free week trial period...so no you don't have to pay for it unless you're past the trial period. Why don't you contact Muzento?? inquries@muzento.com
Nicely done and very well played! Only little thing is the double-stop is actually a tri-tone of the D# and A and not a flat 7th interval of B and A. Both ways imply a B7, but I thought having that B on the A string seemed a bit off and checked their video of when they recorded it. ua-cam.com/video/le0BLAEO93g/v-deo.html Note how his thumb is muting the A string while he plucks with his index and middle fingers.
ahhh yes...I'm looking at bar 1 of letter C - it looks like it might be 1,b7 on the dotted 8th and then the tritone (3rd,b7) on the 16th? Thanks for pointing that out. I'll change it on the PDF in Muzento but not much I can do about the video ;) Cheers!
It's actually a different interval both times. The first one he plays a tritone D# A and the second one he move the bottom note up to an E and plays a perfect fourth. In the video, you only have an A there. You can see in the original video that he plucks two strings both times. It's also clear in the stems of Dart and Woody when he plays the riff on keys. If you haven't listen to the stems, you should listen to them. Not even just the bass, but the guitar and keys playing the riff can help you get it right.
So on your sheet at letter C the dotted 8th is the tritone (D# A) and the following 16th is the perfect fourth (E A).
Agreed on the first one. D# and A. I'll change the PDF in Muzento. The second one I'm not sure though? Could it be the tritone again with more emphasis on the A?
Nope... you're right. Just had a listen to when it happens with the keys. There's an E there... good ear and thanks ;)
Thanks for being cool about it. We're all in the process of becoming better musicians with better ears.
HI, are those Dimarzio DP123 pick ups??
hey Cannon - those are EMG's from 1985. Sorry I don't know the model number. Cheers :)
Greg Fairweather They sound great, thanks for the video!
thanks man :) I've been really happy with them. Thanks for the feedback! ;)
VULFsong and smoke of mine bg bong my friend
enjoy :)
Blisters
haha...yup ;)
Great job! Now do it at 110 BPM!
hehe...105 is fast enough for me ;)
Great playing but on my speakers the bass tone is all low end and doesn't cut through the mix much
hmmm....what would you like me to do?
nope
