without doubt the best ford ever. i remember the day our local ford dealer got a radiant red one in the showroom, i twagged school to go and look at it. still have the photos of it. we also had an Escort Cossie cop car in our town too.
Not actually an Escort as such but a modified Sierra Chassis with Escort Panels grafted on, still an awesome weapon and now very rare in either both standard form or tastefully modified.
Escort cosworth on Rondels making all the right sounds... truely legend car they take some beating, anything with Cosworth on the boot is dream car for me. Modest tune for this wakes them up nicely & keeps it reliable (sort of 😉). Top vid mate 😎😎✌✌👌👌👍👍
my dad had a white one when i was a kid and i was just in it all day everyday i loved it, i still have a picture of me in it when i was about 3 or 4 with huge sunglasses on sat in drivers seat making engine sounds
I remember one of these sitting in my local Ford dealership showroom, I was more a Sierra man but definitely went down there to check it out. I wasn't long passed my driving test at the time, this thing just looked the buisness. 👌
I remember seeing one of these, in the foreground of a local ford dealer in Middlesborough. All my mates were in awe and attracted to the standard power and performance figues and styling. I also used to go to rally cross at Croft circuit, Darlington and witnessed the mentally, ultra tuned versions in full flow, wheel spinning at 160mph and trying to compete with the likes of Will Gollop in his prime. Amazing looking cars with the whale tail spoiler and a testament to car culture......
Fortunate enough to own one just like this , big turbo 360bhp best car ever gets respect everywhere , own a Ferrari too but this just gets next level respect , you really have to be in one to understand smiles all round .

I have just started watching and I have to agree with you. It is the best and most iconic Ford of all time and I can say that on good authority as I have been lucky enough to drive one on single track roads in Argyll in Scotland and then been driven in it at the fastest speed I have ever been in a car at well over twice the speed limit. Simply put it is just awesome. My Dad purchased the 1st Escort supplied to the North East of Scotland sold by a former Rally driver who took his sons and myself to the local Rally's and always chatted to the McRaes and Malcolm Wilson so I think fast Fords are in my blood. The closest I got was owning a 1.8 Si but nearly bought an RS2000 and was offered the Cosworth I drove but at the time I bought a Land Rover instead.
Remember being 14 when my uncle bought his in the same colour mallard green brand new in 1992 after owning 2 Sapphire cosworths before K820 kal on the reg I felt like royalty when he used to take me to school in it Turned as many heads then as it does now ...what a thing ❤ Inspired me to buy a Sapphire cosworth as can't afford one of these Great video becky keep up the good work
For me the thing I actually loved about fast 90s cars when I was younger was 90s engineers didn't give a crap about linear power delivery just lag lag lag then punched in the back of the head with boost 😂

Big turbo early cars are nicer to drive (yes I’m biased) but for an experience they just push more buttons. More lag yes but the T25 cars just don’t offer the same smiles per hour If that makes sense. Lovely car tho that one and I do have a ticket bought as I’d like a BT and ST escort 😀
Totally agree. I had an early homologation model (with water injection kit in the boot) that was 370bhp and then a late 95 small turbo after. The early car was so much better and I'd have another now if I had the space and they weren't such crazy money
I remember being 8 years old seeing one of these brand new in a ford dealers window. Highbury ford....loved it and still do. Wanted my dad to sell his escort rs turbo for one. But he bought an E36 M3 instead 😒

We changed our cars every 9 months … and were allowed 2 at once (wife and me)😊😊😊. My very first experience of turbo lag was sitting behind a petrol tanker on a road that was empty in front of him but busy coming towards me. Second gear … wait … wait … GO! Nothing😳 … and I mean nothing. Suddenly the turbo kicked in and all I could see was the crash bar at the back of the tanker. You are entitled to think that this is BS but I hit the brakes so hard the anti-lock kicked in. I was terrified … it all happened so fast.

Unfortunately we didn't get the escort Cosworth here in the United States by my dad had a Ford Fiesta with a Cosworth engine here in the states and that thing was so much fun seeing him go through the gears we would put fake license plates on it and go out late at night and ripping through the highway with my dad some of the Fondest Memories of my childhood but we mostly Harvey eights here in the states I still have my dad's 1985 Monte Carlo Super Sport with t-tops and a Corvette engine making about 500 horsepower with the ls swap
I lived in the W.Midlands back then and the police were told to stop every one of these they saw as 1/3 were nicked. Insurance quotes were laughable, wasn’t it Clarkson who got quoted £20K a year for a car that cost £21k new…. I was a big rally guy and the early Group A works cars with the side exit exhausts were very cool.
@@philtucker1224 I'm old too, guessing og means original..they were a cool style wheel...similar ones were fitted to the citrine yellow mk1 Mondeos....Escort cosworths are rare but bet the factory citrine Mondeos are rarer now and they looked epic.

A “1000 bhp” Ferrari is spectacular but most unusable…but in the 1990’s with less technology to catch you, fine, van and “protect” you, far less electronics to smother every thing..you had a better, more grin worthy drive. Cars now are better in some ways but lose a great deal in enjoyment. 🙂🙂🙂
ESCORT RS COSWORTH one of my dream cars ! nice
ngl those wheels arent bad but the og wheels are mint
122's are worth alot of money.
(Sorry I’m old) - but what does ngl and og mean please?
@@philtucker1224 I'm old too, guessing og means original..they were a cool style wheel...similar ones were fitted to the citrine yellow mk1 Mondeos....Escort cosworths are rare but bet the factory citrine Mondeos are rarer now and they looked epic.
Not the best RS
i would say the rs200 and rs 500 then the 2 wheel sapphire then the escort then the 4x4 sapphire IMHO
But none of these can beat the absolute savagery of a mk2 or mk1 with a yb cossie
Great video thanks
