how this has less than 50k view is beyond me. The script and production quality on this is so high. I miss the old UA-cam where people actually valued content like this, compared to now, either you are some rich dude vlogging your lavish lifestyle driving around in your 10th Ferrari, or you are filming some 10 second dopamine hit short, or you review products only to comment on how its the best thing ever until the next greatest latest iteration comes along and now that's the best thing ever!

My first time to comment here on this channel. I always really really really loved your works and it motivated me to keep learning English (I'm still poor sorry😅). I hesitated a lot to comment here cuz I was scary to say my opinion on public, but as Japanese and fan of Wong Fu, this time I have to say this is not funny joke. I can see you guys put a lot of efforts on this video, but I'm sad you guys thought this meme is funny to make a video on this channel...Yes some American people thinks it had to drop atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki for stop WW2...I know that time our country was very terrible, but I'm not trying say for my country, all I'm saying this for a tons of people and animals were killed quick (also a tons of people couldn't die so kept walking for water with melted skin...). You guys spoke some Japanese words in this video, but no one thought about that..? I wish there was a person in your office thought or realized that this was not okay. Anyway, I still love you Wong Fu Production and hope there will not be like this in the future.
Agreed. I have been also a fuge fan of Wong fu from the beginning, enjoyed all sketches and wongfu weekend since the time when it was still rare to see Asian in films.
But as a Japanese, im very sad to see this. Who represents Asian voice when Wongfu doesn’t…

Maybe it's easy to miss when English isn't your 1st language, but talking about history in a skit doesn't immediately mean you support it.
No wonder these words will just come out of a Jap's mouth😅 If the U.S. failed or postponed the bombs, millions of people in Southeast Asia, China, Korea would have got humiliated, tortured, raped or slaughtered by Japs. The war is a total tragedy. Regretting losing the war rather than reflection of the war is what you Japs have been educated with for decades since the WW2. Maybe when Japs started to wonder what they actually did, like Germans have been doing these for over half a century, that's the moment we will talk about respect, love or peace.
This is a parody of Oppenheimer, and the publicity around it. The film creates a false history and ignores the consequences of nuclear war, and of weapons "testing" which have been dreadful for the Marshall Islands residents.

Loved this! This short is a big win
While I understand the impulse to jump on this trend, I have to say that I’m disappointed seeing this from Wong Fu. This is not to defend Japan as a country or to attempt to unpack the complicated layers of history and cultural influences that likely have shaped this video and the perspectives of its creators, but in the future, please be more mindful and sensitive to the experiences of all Asians and the victims of the atomic bomb. I understand that this is meant to be comedic and it does highlight the ethical debate, but the graphic bits were hard to watch when you understand the reality of what happened to the victims of the bomb, and you could write a whole paper on the significance of the casual appearance of the word “kawaii” in this context. I’d like to think that Wong Fu would seek to represent all Asian ethnicities, and it seems like a lot of effort was put into the production, so I wonder if efforts were made to consult any Japanese people while making this content.

After having watched this for a few times, I am still confused. Why did Wong fu create this video? They did not create it to take part in the Barbenheimer trend for fun, did they? I do not think that it is ok to joke about a tragedy. Although I am Japanese, I am not only talking about atomic bombs.

I am appalled that a UA-cam Channel like yours that is supposed to promote ASIAN American experiences decided to produce such a video with visually distasteful humour. This comment is not intended to start a fight, but rather, a dialogue about why as a Japanese person, I find this offensive, and why we shouldn’t be making such crude jokes about the Atomic Bomb and what it does to the human body.
Making jokes about nuclear explosions and the body melting away is plainly immoral. It doesn't matter what your political beliefs or stances are regarding World War 2. The over 200,000 Japanese citizens who were killed by the atomic bombs were Innocent civilians. Moreover, their bodies were literally blown away, melted away, the exact way in which people online are making jokes about in relation to "Oppenheimer." If you cannot dare make jokes about the Holocaust and 911 Twin Tower victims (which no one should be doing), you shouldn't be making jokes about nuclear explosions and what it does to people either.
As part of a new generation (Millennials and Gen Z-ers together) that is supposed to be proactive in fighting racial/ethnic and gender/sexual orientation discrimination, we should be putting an end to these types of inter-national, inter-cultural injustices that's been carried forward since the end of WW2 as well. There's a reason why making crude jokes about the Atomic Bomb/Hiroshima/Nagasaki has been acceptable up until now. It has to do with the US spreading the idea that Japan deserved to be bombed for the atrocities it committed to other countries throughout the war. I am by no means defending Japan for what it did, but I believe it's immoral to make distasteful jokes that are linked to such tragedies.
It's not acceptable for us, the new and upcoming generation to say "Oh, I don't know about what exactly happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, so it's okay for me to joke about the Atomic Bomb." As a generation that is more interconnected and supposedly more understanding and tolerant of differences, we need to do better than this.
Hopefully that is somewhat eye opening. It would be great if you could at least remove the particular shot where the barbie dolls’ body melts away, as it is particularly distasteful.
