Yeah and radiation poisoning is not a nice way to go since basically your organs are slowly but surely being radiated beyond the point of no return and since the amount of radiation she got was more than the usual dose I can say she died a very painful death. I am guessing as each organ failed she was in great pain.

I think Cecelia didn't deserve to survive her final game after what she did to Gabriela. Gabriela won her game, she should have been allowed to escape. But, nope. Cecelia decided her fate when she broke Gabei's neck. She'd be stuck there for a while. Also, something my stepfather noticed while watching the movie, is how in Saw II, when Kramer was discussing finding treatment, when he mentioned how he did once, he sounded REALLY upset about it.

    • @thefanwithoutaface8105
      @thefanwithoutaface8105 7 місяців тому +378

Thing is technically Cecelia is alive but she's also trapped with only her head free, stuck in a room full of poison gas, while also being stuck in an abandoned building in the middle of no where in Mexico.
The odds anyone will find her are borderline zero meaning she's gonna slowly die of either starvations or dehydration which is extremely painful and agonizing. So it's a fitting punishment as that's the fate she condemned her victims to.

The boy Carlos was the best addition to the cast; the scene with him and John in the trap was done perfectly for the onslaught of emotions they wanted the audience to feel, and Carlos showed the whole dang point of most of Jigsaw’s traps: there is usually a way for everyone to survive, including the coupled traps, if people can find a way to have compassion through the fear. John was willing to prevent Carlos from any suffering because Carlos was completely innocent, but Carlos responded exactly the way that most of the adults wouldn’t in that trap. … Carlos will need some therapy after all of this, but the movie did the character perfectly.

They have to keep “upping the ante”, but I agree, the games/traps have gotten absurdly unfair/biased towards their death.
Even in the original saw, some guys got better deals than others - the fat dude who bled to death from the razor wire did so because of his weight/size and the fact that he was in such a panic to escape the room before the timer sealed it, I’m 90% sure I would have survived that one, both because I am somewhat underweight vs. overweight (easier to find a pathway), and because he was given a good deal of time, there was no need to carelessly rip himself to shreds in a panic.
On the other hand, same movie, the guy who was poisoned, left naked in a room full of broken glass, covered in flammable grease, and given only a candle to read thousands of numbers off of the walls hopelessly searching for the combination before he burns to death. If it were me I’d just sit there and try random combinations (would be about as effective) and resign myself to the fact I’d probably die of the poison rather than risk lighting myself on fire, that’s so much worse.
That’s my biggest gripe with the saw franchise, they try to make it seem “fair”, but all of his disciples setup traps that are either rigged or as others have said just far too brutal (even if they “win” not to die of blood loss)
And they give excuses like with Amanda, setting up “games” that were a no-win scenario, including just tossing the key carelessly into the tub rather than putting it in his pocket/anywhere that the water wouldn’t have flushed it down the drain before he was even conscious…

I doubt she would have survived the second trap imo. She had no surgery/medical experience (unlike Mateo). If she somehow did complete the trap, I’m sure the operation/tools weren’t sanitary. Which would lead to infection and ultimately die.
Assuming there wasn’t a possibility of infection, they wouldn’t have been able to take her to a hospital. John and Amanda had to be present the entire time to pull off their master plan/final trap after Cecilia received the phone call. It also seems that Cecilia would have killed her either way as she didn’t want any accomplices or to share her money.
If John and Amanda had to be present, I don’t see a way they would have had the ability to take anyone to the hospital. Only possibility would have Diego who survived in the beginning to be an accomplice but we didn’t see any evidence of that.

Amanda didn't care about Gabriela's age, it was 100% because she was a fellow addict. Amanda knew that addiction can make you do some really horrible things sometimes and she had sympathy for Gabriela. I just watched it less than 24 hours ago and she explains that to John, who says something like, "She still made a choice."
I remember it very specifically because I'm in recovery myself and I thought John's response was harsh. Amanda understood that it doesn't really feel like a choice when you're doing it. I'm sure Gabriela was ashamed of her actions, but her brain was basically telling her, "Do this or you'll die." She was desperate. Plus, IDK what their exact ages were supposed to be, but Amanda is probably supposed to be in her 20s or 30s in this film. Even though the actress is older, the character was still pretty young.
(Just to clarify, I don't think addiction is ever a justification to commit a crime, but I've had people tell me that it's something that I chose and that is WAY oversimplifying a complex disease.)

I think they (Diego, Gabriella, Matteo, and Valentina) were likely victims of Cecilia's manipulations and desperate circumstances. Is scamming dying people scummy? Abso-fucking-lutely. Is it preferable to living in poverty? Yeah, probably. They were being taken advantage of and got doubly screwed (they certainly weren't getting enough of a cut to live like Cecilia was) but her trap in comparison didn't feel as mean-spirited as the others. And success was predicated on her willingness to murder someone else, which we already kinda figured (even before Gabriella) that she'd be fine with.

The only problem I see is that John might have set the dial up in a way that it wouldn't allow you to flick immediately to 5, since we see lights flicking on with each dial turn. My guess is - He might have either imagined that no one would think to pull this kind of move, or that he would set it up in a way to not allow immediate turn to 5 - To prolong the pain of his subject and make him repent for his sins through the long endurance of pain.

Some other cool details I noticed:
At a few points Amanda states her disdain for Cecelia, seeing her as the most deserving of punishment. As always, John sticks by his code of ethics and if tests are survived, the subject is allowed to live. Cecelia survived her test as we saw. Most likely angering Amanda.
Later in the Saw series in the earlier films, Amanda begins creating traps in place of John - I believe she created the “Angel Trap” (one that rips your ribs out) and the “Class Room Nail Bomb Trap” (one with the dude who has to rip the shackles from his skin and jaw) - we later find out that both of these traps were designed to be unsurvivable, even if the subject succeeded in their test. We can extrapolate that it was Cecelia’s survival here (where Amanda felt she deserved to die, but managed to survive), that was the initial event prompting Amanda’s creation of the unsurvivable traps to ensure subjects died if she felt they deserved it.
Also, the trap we see John sketching is the “Rack Trap” we see in Saw 3, whose events happen chronically after this movie.
Also-Also, the “Blood Boarding” trap at the end was most likely intended for John and Amanda (planning to work together to endure the trap knowing Cecelia and her lover would eventually go grab that money. John and Amanda probably practiced the ‘intervals’ by which they’d pull their levers to swap the blood-flow and give the other a chance to breathe).
    Sorry for the text wall.

I respect this movie the most out of the series for 2 reasons: I agree with Jon's choice of who should play on all counts, and I actually felt like he was the protagonist for once.
Still don't agree about the 'we're not killing people they're not saving themselves' line, but I felt like this one was along the lines of an actual sense of cosmic justice.
And you feel yourself rooting for some of the victims to live, and against others, meaning they gave you a good setup to who these people are. They're not nobodies who you just met and only learn about through a one sentence explanation or flashback; they're characters who do things in the movie that end them up in the traps and you see their complicity.
It's otherwise not better direction or more innovative traps than any of the other films, though it does do away with most of the bloated police procedural crap that's been dragging down the franchise since the 3rd film. But I think it stands tall in the franchise and it's the first one I've seen in a long time that makes me cast a 'continue doing this' vote.

Something that some people misbelieve about the Bloodboarding trap is that Kraimer was expecting Carlos to be there. John would never, especially to a child.
Everything went according to plan, until Carlos was lured by Cecilia. There was ever going to be one survivor, the trap was set up so Cecilia would put Kramer and Amanda into the trap together, it was another test for Amanda as John already knew she wasnt a believer of the methods. As for Cecilia, even though she survived the game, being the only living person in the complex doesnt look good for anybody.
In addition, Diego could have been involved in later events as well maybe? Who's to say.
I personally really did like this one, its definitely up there with the better half of the series for sure, but I still think I liked Spiral more. In addition, the mid-credit scene feels like John was fully aware of every rigged game, and even condoned them in a way? Which just felt, wrong to me. Like being able to kill Gannon without the Master Sword

    • @davidfairweather3301
      @davidfairweather3301 7 місяців тому +8

I agree with all of that except for I don’t think John saw it as “another test for Amanda” - it seemed like Amanda knew what the plan was and that her and John were the ones meant to enter the trap and they could help each other survive long enough until Cecelia and Parker enter the room and get trapped.

@davidfairweather3301 Is it weird that I find him hacking up drug addicted prostitutes to be off? I've always found him putting innocent people in to traps to torture others or just to be awful to be far but killing people like Valentina and Gabrielle is the first step in being a normal serial killer. I don't know why people argue that guys like Dexter and John would finds any excuse to kill people.

@@davidfairweather3301 This was the point I had as getting at. John already lost his child, why is he going to knowingly put another child in danger? He wouldn't, Zep wasn't going to kill the Gordon's in the first movie regardless of the outcome, even then Tapp got there and saved the day, I guess, John would never willingly hurt a child, would have been more accurate to me train of thought

For most of the movies with John Kramer, I was always half with him, half against him, when it came to those he made play his games. Like yeah, maybe they did deserve to play the game, or nah, they didn't need to go through that.
But this one hit a little too close to home. I lost my mom to stage IV ovarian cancer and though she wasn't scammed, the idea of someone like her, sick, weak, going through aggressive treatments and surgeries, being taken advantage of by scummy people, made my blood boil.
I have no sympathy for those who scam people when it comes to something as serious as cancer.

One thing that was overlooked. So had the two scammers actually been forced into the trap and worked together to survive… I mean taking turns getting drenched by blood to avoid drowning would have been pretty fundamental….. would they have really been let loose for having won their game? Kramer doesn’t get his revenge and life goes on?

I think the point was that they would be too selfish to do so. He does extensive research on his victims and creates traps around their flaws. Probably expected them to just drown each other and if they did actually escape it by showing compassion, then that's that.
