It's so crazy to see those headlights and then look in the engine bay and recognize all the familiar Subaru bits! This is awesome work you have done. For what it's worth, I don't think I have ever seen a Subaru front strut tower separate in the manner you talked about. It's not a Mitsubishi! That said, the rears, specifically in the first and second gen Forester do like to do that with enough rust. It has to get really bad though. I would say yours is good for at least 30 years now, hahaha. Also crazy you had to go to such lengths to separate that bearing. Really creative solution though!
Thanks for all your kind words Aaron. Yes the Subaru was already a sturdy car and there was probably no need to reinforce the strut towers, but it also gave me a little bit of lift which allowed me to correct the stance to where I wanted it. And now when I accidentally slam it through a big hole I only have to worry about whether my back survived and not the car lol!
Sorry I just noticed your comment because I have been super busy trying to finish the car. Just got it running last night for the first time since the swap.
Thanks, I appreciate that! Just wait till I start wheeling it, because I ain’t building it for show, I’m gonna have some serious fun with this car on the channel.
This project has been oddly satisfying for me, the finished result should be pretty useful too. Hopefully I don’t blow up my Subaru engine LOL! Thanks for your comment.🇨🇦
@@CarswithNash just wondering. My 06 PT, owned just on a year, has been great.🎲 annoyingly, the back won't "touch open"... opens with key only!. Anything I could do?... Cheers🕷️🐍🦘
Thanks Steve. Yes indeed actually from this point I neglected to film much of anything so the next video will be the car all done, which it is now, I have been driving it for a few weeks now and just finishing up a little things before I do the final video.
Car Guy 0 seconds ago Hi Matt enjoy your channel , when purchasing the timing belt set for the 2006 P.T. Cruiser > will you buy an O.E.M. water pump separately and buy the gates kit for the rest >> I've heard the after market water pumps don't last >>
I stay away from Gates, they normally don’t line up good on the timing marks and even from the factory a lot of the cars didn’t because they used a Gates belt. I buy a complete Continental kit including water pump and cam and crank oil seals. It’s very important to change those oil seals even if they are not leaking they need to be changed.
That’s nice to hear, thanks! More videos coming for sure, I actually just took a break from doing them to finish up this car, I’m just assembling the interior as we speak.

@@CarswithNash Beefing it up for off road def isn't a bad idea. 💪
Still my favorite build of all time! Good thing I'm subbed to you on Facebook. I never saw this update on UA-cam.

That thing is pretty crazy. Glad I ran across you on FB. And subscribed!

Subaru powered dodge just as I imagined.
My bro reckons your nuts... (says someone who spent thousands putting a Subi motor in a VW, to then blow it up!) Hey from New South Wales 🐍🕷️🦘

@@o8thman812 Does it still open with the key fob? If so it’s definitely the touch button, if not it’s the lock actuator inside the door.
That is a ton of work for such a short video. I can see you are just mashing on and getting things done.
