Cuteness and familiarity. Some rodents, marsupial, avian and invertebrates are more threatened than panda and have adorable appearance but they barely get any attention because of how obscure they are to general public
You have a really good point like the panda and the axolotl but nobody cared about the dodo or the passenger pidgen which were important in there ecosystem
It's a bummer that the Chinese government will go all out for Pandas but turn a blind eye to their people decimating other species (rhinos, pangolins, tigers, etc). They've even relaxed the laws concerning rhino horn.
The Dusky Seaside Sparrow's story left me in tears. I can only imagine the devastating effects of human activities that caused so many species to go extinct
Man...if I was the last of the species I'd rather spend my last days a free bird...damn humans caused their downfall and had to roundup the last remaining survivors. I know they were trying to make a last ditch effort to save them but they should've stopped and set them free when the program was going nowhere. Suuuuucccckkssss
next up on all about nature: endlings…. the vaquita, javan rhino, sunda island tiger, amur leapord, yangtze finless porpoise, and many others… including honestly every population of amphibian that has or will ever encounter chytrid fungus. hopefully these stories of endlings will inspire people to try and help current endangered species (and not just the really famous ones like the ones i mentioned, but as many of them as possible!) no matter how hopeless things seem, these last individuals do matter… at least we know what NOT to do to save them!
The Carolina Parakeet and the Passenger Pigeon left me in tears. I can only imagine the devastating effects of human activities that caused two species that numbered in the billions to go down to 0 within a century. I just cannot imagine what would have happened to wildlife if conservation did not start seriously from 1980.
Man i hate when humans kill off a species because they think they are pest, threat, or are unimportant i miss the thylacine, dodo, and stellers sea cow rip these legends 🦤
14:40 - that tree frog 🐸 is unique. Not "truly unique" definitely never "very unique" - things either are or are not unique. Its baked into the definition. Great channel - depressing topic but fascinating 😅
It’s such a bummer that the general public’s willingness to save a species is tied to its cuteness. Panda’s are a great example of this

I believe the Yangtze Finless Porpoise is now considered extinct.😕

Great video and lessons. Incredibly depressing subject, but an important one.
1:56 I feel like I've heard this call before in person, and I'm not even an adult
SAME!! I remember it as a kid, haven't heard it in years though. (18 currently)
This is basically just an hour long story of humans being awful.
The gliding frogs bummed me out the most. Like they were producing offspring and were that close to being saved but just didn’t.
Sighhhh...ikr? This is also one of the few cases where I think homo sapiens are not to blame and actually tried to save them. Trippy

They should continue to try to propagate seeds from that palm tree some plants like native soils sand or coffee grounds to sprout 🌱
What was wrong with people back then being so horrible cruel to the auks? Like they realized it's cruel but carried on!?! horrifying 😢
Rich people back then🤦🏻♀️
The numbers of George’s is statistically significant lol.
So sad on how we focus on one thing and miss what can happen to other things. We need to protect that what is endangered
Toughie 🥺
The Phillips island Kaka. Haha. Awwww
Make animals scientists are trying to bring back
I hope they do rediscover the Tasmanian Tiger

The frog's mating call made me so sad
These videos are depressing. It's sad what humans have done to the wildlife.
In 2023 Some people saw the baiji but they only saw 1
