I was surprised by how much FUN this movie was. It's silly and simple, sure, but it doesn't pretend to be anything else. JG is in top sarcastic form, and there are even some well acted support characters, and villains who provide a lot of satisfying fight scenes as well as humor. The OG Roadhouse took itself too seriously and was unintentionally comical in retrospect. This one fixed that and owned the joke, instead of becoming one on accident.

I actually enjoyed this film. It didn’t try to be a remake of Swayze’s Roadhouse the director told a new story only using a similar setting to the original film. It’s by no means an acting Tour de Force. It’s a simple action oriented movie. The hero rides in, the hero learns of a bad situation that he wasn’t given all details about, the hero has made friends so he chooses to help, and then the hero defeats the bad guys.
That is the problem. Why not give it a different title, make it original, instead it is a cheap nostalgia cash grab that was just a soulless mash of bad writing and bland characters. I mean his love interest in this movie was as convincing as the boy whose 'girlfriend' goes to a different school. In the old movie you actually believed the relationship between the characters and their motivation. This movie had zero chemistry between any of their cast.

But there's this one little small 10% of those dreams where I absolutely unleash every single bit of anger and pent up rage I've ever had in my life and I just let whoever it is fucking have it. I've never felt more powerful in those dreams than I've ever felt in real life. I also think it's your brain during sleep that makes the punches so slow, but not because of what you say. I think your body is really trying to act out those full power shoves, punches, kicks etc etc while you're asleep. Like actually do it while you're asleep. But because during REM your brain basically turns all the physical and especially your movement off. That is aside from what keeps you alive.
I asked someone who watched this movie "Does someone's throat get ripped out in the movie?" and they replied no. And that's why I have not and will not watch this movie.
