Exactly the definition of Blues. Black hymns, songs about pain and happiness. I'm White, love music, own many guitars, played all my life, and am a minority in my opinions, and I love country music, tone, and feeling. Blues is my night passion and it seems you have to know it, not just playing it matters. This guy is a volume of feeling. God bless

Michael Burks was my favorite contemporary guitarist when I was in high school. I bought all of his albums that I could get. It wasn't long ago, but it just seemed like not that many people were playing this kind of improvisational blues for a while. or at least it wasn't reaching an audience, especially with people my age or younger. I really liked Christone Kingfish when I first heard him and kept up with his new releases. then when he came out with his version of Empty Promises I saw a rhino records video for it, and it blew my mind. Such an awesome tribute, he has real integrity and skill. Just an amazing artist.
If I could play like this I would be at peace 🙌🏼🎸 not to mention quitting my boring day job and getting some friends and a earning a living like my dad in the 70s. I should have listened to him and learned 😭.. thanks Kingfish!
