Y’ALL! I just saw Chris perform this tonight in Jackson, MS & had to remind myself - no crying in the club. The things he does to this guitar + that voice really penetrates deep down. Never seen/heard anything like it🙌🏽❤️
No crying in the pub...lol I feel ya. His intensity is that powerful in his playing amd voice to bring tears of joy. Besides....a real man just wept for American on national TV. Go VAN! 🙏 amen
I'm not a guitar player. quite frankly I don't listen to a lot of blues. but I got down a rabbit hole on UA-cam last night. boy the guy kind of makes me tear up a little bit. pretty amazing!
He’s amazing for a fairly new player, I love this guy, but don’t get carried away. If anything, he should inspire you to listen to his Blues heroes such as Buddy Guy. In terms of singing and playing guitar though, we are looking at one of the all time Blues greats emerging.
First time honestly I heard kingfish on Luke cage a few years back. Immediately he stood out to me and I went digging. his blues licks and those strange rapid arpeggio riffs he does that he resolves into the blues scale just do something for me. Never heard it done quite like that.
Im only new to guitar, so excuse this question. Is he playing pentatonic scales here or extending them in his solos? It seems to me that it is pentatonic, but...
True Grit Jiu Jitsu no need for excuses, all classic blues comes from pentatonic scales, extended or not. In this case he is extending them particularly in the solo.
What I don't like about this performance is while Kingfish is at 100 percent, his drummer and bassist remain at 30 percent. Kingfish deserves a more vibrant, dynamic crew.
He's the future of the real heavy blues!
My man. With a Pac t-shirt on. Wow. How can you not love this dude
Blessed is he whom in darkness brings out the LIGHT, For truly he is his brothers KEEPER.
The Big Man would be smiling.....
So young so grown up in his music. What a Gem. At least there is still hope for good music.

Those are the fellas from his Church Praise Band....... I think they are Awesome, The touring thing was pretty new to them when I took this video
Listen to the bass more its actually pretty good and clever. It's in the playing of the solos so most dont hear it
Devastating guitar.
