Railroads change their names and locomotive models come and go. Even the nicest sounding diesel air horns get old after a while. But you captured one of the things that has remained constant in that area... the voice of the Western Meadowlark. His song is confident and self-assured. We have them on the eastern side of South Dakota too. I'll never get tired of hearing them. Thank you for including him. Loved the video in its entirety.
It was a really fun evening. I haven’t been in that area for over a decade prior to shooting this footage. I really miss that area. It’s just sad that the number of coal trains is way off from when I lived there in the early to mid 90’s. Thank you for watching!
I think there will be some sort of coal traffic for many years to come. Especially if natural gas prices continue to climb like they have been this past couple years. But I do think that BNSF looks at this line as still viable for a secondary route for intermodal and grain shipments from Chicago to the Pacific Northwest.
I still don't get why are they still using the SD70macs when those C44-9ws have better longevity an power but yet they are in storage an those old Macs still in the power poole for coal trains I mean get those 9ws upgraded for the air regulations an back on the tracks cuz that's the many reasons alot of power between UP an BNSF did that in the first place .....great video loved it
At the time you wrote this comment, they only had 9 SD70MAC's running. This one was one of them. All the rest are or were in storage. Thank you for your comments!
Nice work. One of the more professional train videos. I like the quiet moments, even the birds. Thanks for not zooming. Well done!
Thank you very much!

Thank you Eric. It is the best sound when waiting for a train. No other sounds other than the occasional car. Such stress relief!
Thanks for such a cool video. I grew up in Igloo and recognize the countryside shown. I also distinctively remember the call of the meadowlark.
Meadowlarks are C. Vision’s #1 bird. We love them. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Awesome catches
Thank you!!!!

Thank you very much! Glad to have you on board!
Love these freight trains
We do too! Thank you for watching the video.
If there is ever no more coal traffic on this line, do you think it could go abandoned or be used for other stuff?

@@CVisionProductions1 nice
I need to get back up to that part of the country.
It took me way too long! It is still a wonderful place!
How many trains go through Edgemont a Day?
Roughly 20-30
@@CVisionProductions1 someone told me 40
40 sounds right. Just depends on coal volumes that particular day.
am i seeing things i hope they run again some day
They will. Just a hopeful temporary slowdown in rail traffic.
Excellent catch Of the Executive SD70MAC do you know if BNSF is repainting their SD60Ms from the BN Livery into BNSFs scheme ?
Thank you! Yes, slowly they are. But not sure if they will be repainting all of them.
Thanks for the info because I heard that BNSF DID repaint so of their GEEPS and a few SD60s to the BN scheme I Could Be Wrong Though
