Was hoping the MKT heritage unit would have been green and yellow. Great video

The gentleman placing the orders at 2:49 is agent and first trick operator Andy Adams. If I recall correctly, train orders were used until December 1988 when they were replaced with TWC.

This video evoked a flood of memories. We've lost so much - train orders, depots, the caboose, train order board blinking red signal (the operator has train orders to hand up), and we finally lost the railroad. I suppose we never know how much we have until we don't have it anymore. Thanks for posting this video.

Very cool to see history in videos! Sad to say that depot is long gone, or well it’s no longer at this location, could of Ben moved possibly, but the tracks still remain

The Katy depot had the same fate as the MoPac depot in Taylor. Union Pacific demolished is in 1995 and where it sat there nothing but an empty lot. The I&GN Depot that Missouri pacific had was also demolished in the 80’s but was replaced with the brick building that is still there today.

@@arlingtontrains7 Steve Goen is the man who filmed the Katy shown here. He was standing on a signal that was just down from the diamond. Not sure when but the tower was torn down to but I think that was before both depots were torn down.

The view at 1:49 appeared to be higher Elevation, thus I’m thinking you got the view from the tower, nevermind haha

So obviously tower 34 was torn down before the filming of this in 1988

Yes, not exactly sure when though, I’m looking the the Texas Railroad History website on the towers in Texas and they don’t exactly say when it was torn down.
