I caught my friend chewing electrical cords, So his parents had to ground him for 1 month. He's doing better currently, and now he's conducting himself properly.
That looks neat and easy to pull back out, but I think hand coiling is the best way for the cord’s sake. It doesn’t get twisted and no tight bends. You can also clean the cord with a rag as you coil it.
That's how I was taught at 18 yrs old by my uncle that was in the carpenter union for 45 years. He did alot of custom cabinets in hospitals and schools. He was very good at what he did.
Great for parachute cords. Bad for electric cords. You need to do big loops, and make sure it doesn't twist. Or else you end up with cords that are twisty on the inside. Cords are not rope. And rope isn't an electrical cord.
@@andrew1898 Not to mention, I don’t always wanna use all 150’ of cord. Sometimes I plug it into the source, and only need 10 or 20 feet, so the rest can stay wrapped up saving me the hassle of wrapping up the rest of it.

I prefer the chain method because you can throw your cord across whatever plywood scraps you have in the back of your pickup truck that usually takes flight a few streets from your job site and you can cover it with that extension cord and not have that problem ever again. It keeps the things you want to stay in your pickup truck in the back of your pickup truck when you're going down the highway.
I regularly do it with 100ft cord. Just instead of folding in half and pulling 2 cords through like normal on shorter cords, I fold in half a second time and pull 4 cords through. Just a heavier version of doing a daisy chain on a 25ft cord.
I saw this clip probably like 6-7 months ago, and today i needed to wrap up a 50 footer ext cord, so i remembered the thumbnail of this video annnnnnd now i have a perfectly neat extension cord in the garage 😁

You can wrap it around your wrists the exact same way and don’t look goofy while doing so. The best part about this method is when you wrap an extension cord in front of a group and they try to figure out what the heck you’re doing. Surprisingly entertaining party trick
That technique is crap. You can hold one end of a cord wrapped over/under style and throw it and it won’t kink or bind in a mess. I’d like to see what happens if you try that with this method. It won’t be pretty.
the beginning you are holding must be taken out of the figure eight at the end, you just keep holding on to the beginning when you put it on the ground and extend your hand further holding the cable / hose / rope ... and do not secure it at the end like in the video ...
Looping the cord or putting it on a reel is the only two good ways in my opinion that I have found. I can’t stand the memory in cords after someone wraps it up with tension
It's faster to just wad it up and throw it off to the side of the shop 😅 or throw it away so you don't have to worry about storage, then buy another nicely wrap up one when you need it. 😉
Yeah, that’s more work than just wrapping it around your forearm… I will say that it’ll be fun to make the new guys do that silly dance in the shop haha.
Well you may or may not be correct ?? But in my 40+ yrs of rolling up cords , I have not found 1 foul proof way to wind them up! IDK if 1 exist right now that is easy to wrap /unwrap, stays bundled together for storage /transport, does not tangle / twist while wrapping, does not self inflict knots in itself, for some reason like 1/5.7 times I use a cord it will grow a knot into itself, I know was not there when I put it out an a saw was plugged into it the whole time , so where do the knots come from?? 😢😢🤔👍
@@troykinnison4575 well there are better, ok and bad ways. To wrap a cord this is the worst. The better way is the loop method. Kinda like how a cow boy loops his rope. I've had the same cord for 30 years. With no twists at all. I've only had to replace the ends. Cause they wear out
