The end of this discussion reminded me of getting my geology degree. My professor said You are expected to know the science at a very high level. More importantly you must be able to communicate that information at a 101 (intro) level because your audience are city planners, lawyers, politicians that have no interest in geology. So always be able to break it down to its simplest degree.
Two people who I greatly admire chatting about a subject that I love. Shawn taught me Kettlebell training 6 years ago. Gregory has inspired my outlook on that training for the past 2 years. I'm very late in commenting on this but have just watched it now. I did an Agatsu Cert with one of Shawn's trainers in Dec 2023 and it was an eye-opener. The distinction between high tension and high volume was very illuminating. Thus, when I learned of the interview, I wanted to hear what Shawn had to say. Gregory, the interview is terrific. Shawn is a very interesting cat and has a great attitude about training. And thank you for getting the best and the brightest in the field to show up. It is a testament to your curiosity and open mind. Excellent stuff!

I bought Shawn's DVD and managed to find a KB in Toronto while on a business trip (I also bought Ryan Shanahan's kettleworx series and found Lauren Brooks DVDs- shipped from California!) I took a few classes with a trainer in Ottawa and worked out with DVDs at home as there weren't any local KB classes. Fast forward 15 years I still love KBs, and now subscribe to Lauren's virtual classes as she is a KB pro. I found your UA-cam series Lebe and really appreciate your technical instruction. Thank you for respecting the KB!
Brilliant interview, Gregory. Didn't even know this guy existed tbh. I'm going to buy his Kettlebell ebook for 9 dollars. Even if I get one nugget of gold from it....its money well spent......but I'm sure I'll get more than just one nugget.👍
I bought my first kettlebell from dragon door a 16kg and it cost about $300 Canadian with customs and shipping in 2001 I think. I than found Shawn and agatsu and bought 5 more bells alot cheaper. But back in the day b4 Shawn was a site called Superherostrength that taught and sold kettlebells in Canada and the dude was russian I believe and they are my fav kettlebells ever. These were before comp kettlebells but a hybrid with thinner handles and in heavier sizes.
WHAT IS THE KETTLEBELL??? It is the ultimate power tool for athletes, fighters, soldiers, circus strongmen and super heroes! 19:53 you do need education. how can you expect to excel at "coaching" if you don't have a base of knowledge like anatomy, physiology plus specific knowledge about the thing you do. of you want to teach about kettlebells (and be excellent) better know everything you can about kettlebells (specific details like history, materials, size, center of mass) if not you're just improvising based on the opinion of other "experts" and you won't reach excellence

Took Shawn's on-line Agatzu Certification mid-December. Super knowledgeable and excellent instructor. I learned a lot and ENJOYED the whole weekend.
