Bought my dress from Burlington Factory, he wore an old suit, got a cake from Publix and got married in the courthouse. People gave us gift cards, and we didn't have a bachelor's /Bachelorette parties. Had a very small dinner after the wedding to celebrate with family and close friends and they all contributed a dish. Still happily married and about to celebrate 12 years in September. Unless YOU want to spend crazy amounts of money on YOUR special day, you can easily SAVE money on weddings and celebrations. People forget that that day is for the couple and NOT everyone else.

Our wedding was at an affordable venue in Dekalb, IL (we are from Chicago) in 2023. Spent $17,000 for 70 person wedding. Go outside expensive areas and stick to your budget.
We want a medium wedding (100 ppl). We have decided to plan 3 years in advance so everyone has plenty of time to prepare. We will spend about 20-25k before it's all said and done (before help from our parents, they'll be contributing approximately $15k altogether).
