Absolutely love seeing the interaction with your fur baby Lightening! Our Alaskan Malamute hears your dog talking on tv and immediately runs to the front of the tv to watch! He must be saying something really important! 😂

Aside from being ugly, it would be a grandly stupid idea to take it down! Ugly can be fixed easily enough, just paint or render it to the same degree as a plain woman's makeup turns her into a beauty! Maybe Michael can paint a mural? He made a room look like it has 3D paneling with only paint & talent! I imagine trees, flowers, climbing vines, blue skies & clouds! Maybe a deer, rabbits, squirrels & birds too. But I do know that he's good with Beatrix Potter animals❤! Though he is kinda busy at the moment😢...
I think it was because he said it was just a staircase, and he never uses it. That was my first thought when he said that, then logic set in! 😂

When you give Billy his mower back in the summer ask to borrow the cherry picker to jet wash and seal the staircase wall 👍
While a good idea. Billy doesn’t have the cherry picker any more. But sure he would have lent it if he did. 😀
@@verathyssen284 Billy does have a high lift platform he is using right now to paint his third floor windows. I'm sure that will work just as well.
@@wallywood49 yes he does but even he said it didn’t get high enough to do the roof now. But I’m sure it would work. 👍🏻 the Manetob ( wrong spelling I know) is much safer too with that gage around it. 👏

Good grief, knock it down? It's part of the Chateau and it should remain and obviously you can't dry it out until the crazy weather settles and down and you have a run of warmth....makes sense! Keep cracking on Phil. We enjoy hanging out with you.

I think you should knock it down and rebuild it with Legos. They are completely waterproof, they won't start deteriorating for thousands of years, you can build in any color you like, you can change the shape or color at will, and you can get a few of those little Lego men to help you. Make sure you get the construction worker ones so you don't have to train them. And be careful you don't accidentally grab one of the Lego lawyers because he'll start a union and then they'll all strike on you for better benefits. Don't ask me how I know.
Lightning likes the game "Watch the Ball Fly", but he's not a big fan of the companion game "Fetch". He looked at you like "You're the one who threw it, you go fetch it." He's such a good boy.
Between the chipper and the VW Van, I would have expected to see you doing your happy dance!

I'm one of those who asked about demolishing that structure because it looks on camera as though a huge amount of work is required. I was not aware that it is just a paint job!

Love to hear you have it in mind to restore the missing wing of your beautiful chateau eventually. At the moment she looks like a beautiful ballerina with a pirates wooden leg. lol
My thought about the tower that I had not written was to tile hang it to keep the weather out, for minimal disruption ad cost. More expensive than water proof paint, but does not need to wait for the existing structure to dry out to be installed. However, it is your castle, your home and your call, you must do what it=s right for you and the building as you see the situation.

Would you consider moving the art piece higher up on the wall? It needs more blank space around it to really shine...that spot you're aiming for is perfect!
I don’t know if you’ve considered bringing in a commercial dehumidifier to help offset the moisture. But two things come to mind- availability of that equipment and financial resources to do so. And a way/place for a hose to drain off the extracted water which pulls through the machine. But I’m over in America and we do things differently, not better. Don’t misunderstand me.. Just different in some respects. Either way Phil I absolutely trust you will sort out the best solution for you and your situation/issues. Keep in mind- we don’t have really château’s and castles across the pond. We have, historically, very different architecture and building styles . Not all of ours is inspiring I must say.. Take care and stay safe.
Can you throw a waterproof tarp over it ? To prevent further damage?
I,ve used breathable water proof paint on render and it worked - buy the hi spec ronseal version - I was surprised to find my white render paint looked great and render was solid it was not waterproof !

My neighbour has one of those dogs. He's moulting at the moment. There was a big gust of wind the other day and I looked out of the window and was like "what's all that white fluff blowing about in the wind?" 😄

Until you rebuild the wing that was removed I would love to see a trompe l’œil on that gable end wall, of windows etc to match the other walls of the chateau.

can you expand on the history of the fire and what was removed. love more history on the building.
There was no fire. The owner knocked down that wing of the chateaux to sell off the stones to pay a debt. I also think because of the window tax. Many chateaux blocked up windows because some silly rule about facing you based on the number of windows you had.

Many Years ago My grand parents Home they had a push machine that the gardener would use to sweep up leaves it looked like a big hopper with a street sweeper brush at the bottom you would push it over the lawn like a mower but the sweeper would barely touch the grass sweeping the leaves into the hopper no raking made the lawn very clean.
Many of us don’t know about how to maintain render. Thanks for the explanation. We don’t really use render in the US

Knock it down? What madness is this!!! Glad you are keeping your chin up as usual Phil, yes, it only needs a bit of weatherproofing, its just an annoying glitch that is relatively easy to fix. We have to expect these maintenance surprises with old properties. When it's done the terrace will look even lovelier too, win win! xx
Since you're having changeable weather, you'd appreciate this. A couple of days ago I went out to check the mail and it's lightly snowing...in full out sunshine! My brain definitely stuttered. Lol!
