Montblanc have never been taken seriously in horology circles. I liked a few of their dress watches in rose gold. This piece however was a statement release to show people they were taking it seriously. The 100 years limited edition version of this is lovely if you haven’t seen it yet. Lovely dial work.
I always enjoy watching videos about watches I probably never will purchase but still find very interesting. I do have one of their pens, and no complaints there! Thanks to both for the review!
Was lucky to pick up a pre-owned automatic chronograph on eBay with all the packaging and papers in excellent condition at a pretty silly low price. Coming up to vintage age but the accuracy is still impressive - underrated brand.
Congratulations on your new watch. It's a beauty. About 500m from where we live in Istanbul we have what I like to call Watch Row, because side by side we have the stores of AP, Patek Philippe, Tudor, Frederique Constant, Richard Mille, Rolex, Omega and last but not least Mont Blanc. It's a very nice store and they do have extremely nice watches. Your comment about a lot of them being very big is very true, but they are made extremely well.
I am with you on this. They have some super nice pieces! This is very unique! The dial moves instead of the hand! That is awesome! I think you have done well James!
Really nice one James it looks haute horology to me of course I'm no expert. The nod to pens in the shape of a pen nib is so cool it reminds me of Victorinox which sometimes uses their Swiss Army knife as a second hand counterbalance.
It is a rabbit hole of amazing watches. Just look at the prices as there are lots that are selling relatively cheap. Also some are huge. I’ve also noted that some do not have a second hand. So no movement.
A very interesting watch, congratulations on finding one and having such a supportive wife 👍. My first thoughts were I do like the dial, it's different, but packs a lot in while remaining symmetrical 👍, second, I'm not sure I could live with the lack of minute markers in two sections of the dial and third I hate to think how much a service will cost. I look forward to the full review 😁
Υou have good taste. And you experiment with watches beyond the norm (Rolex, Seiko etc.) That is why I like your channel. You broaden our horizons with new experiences.
Hello James and thanks for this video. It's a beautiful watch and I'm sure it worth the price. 🎉 Also, it is one not showed so usually on YT, nor on the internet. Thus, I'll surrely be there for the 2nd video, the complete review one.
There will be a very in depth review of this one in a few month once I have a really good understanding of it. I can say. I am completely in love with it and even wearing it so much more than I expected
Cool video ! I like James that you ask your wife to appear and do a relevant cameo. Nice watch. Is there an homage watch to this Mont Blanc ? Keep up the good work, ms. James & mr. James, including these nice and neat 'mises en scèce (how to put someone into the light)'.
Montblanc is such an odd brand ( I have a pen collection too and love their pens) - their watches are all very well made but range from rather pedestrian movements to absolutely amazing Minerva pieces and some odd in-between ones. Like the Nicolas Rieussec - a wonderful piece of horological innovation and exquisite craftsmanship. They can now be bought for an absolute steal pre-owned and won't let you down. Congrats to you for this amazing watch!!
Thank you. I am so happy with this watch. It is incredible. You are completely right about their watches. All over the place. But a good brand to look into
I definitely will be. It has turned out to be in my top 3 favourite watches of all time and surprisingly one of my most worn. Definitely check out my video about how to save money on it. I bought a cheap version. Then had it fully serviced and fixed my Montblanc and it ended up cheaper than many of the more expensive versions.
I almost begrudge Mont Blanc for how much I like their watches, they obviously suffer from aficionados' snobbery, the way people look down their noses on their move into watches as a cynical money-grab. But it's undeniable that their designs are tasteful and very tempting, if one judges them purely on aesthetics and quality, and can ignore the marketing/branding baggage.
They have some incredible designs and their “perceived” fashion watch status actually helps significantly to allow some amazing priced watches. Especially used or grey market
I think you might need right. I think that’s also the reason why they drop so much money on the grey or used market. I can foresee myself owning another from them.
The most scarred I’ve been before buying a watch has turned into sheer joy at owning this one.

I am the same. I really enjoy lots of different watch creators talking about very cool watches. But watches that I’m not going to buy.
I agree! I like their pens but I have yet to own one of their watches.
Was lucky to pick up a pre-owned automatic chronograph on eBay with all the packaging and papers in excellent condition at a pretty silly low price. Coming up to vintage age but the accuracy is still impressive - underrated brand.
I am so impressed with it and the brand too. I went into my local montblanc to try on a few new models.
really a nice watch!!!! Congratulations on your fantastic purchase
Thanks for WATCHing

I visited my local montblanc store too and just tried on a buck of lovely watches.
Looks great, have thought about picking up that one over the years, congrats! Great piece, interesting movement, all around winner!
Thank you. It is an incredible watches.

Thank you. I’m in love with this one. I just keep looking at it. Then taking it off to look at the movement
Now that’s a smart looking watch 😮💨
I absolutely love it and can’t stop wearing it.
@@WATCHingJames I’m not surprised James.
Just a beautiful watch caliber. Revisioned one yesterday, really fun to work on. Congrats on your purchase!
It is gorgeous.
I’m very very happy to own this one.
James, that is an absolutely stunning watch! Wow! Thanks for sharing it with us 👍😁
Thank you. It is very very cool and I love it.
Really nice one James it looks haute horology to me of course I'm no expert. The nod to pens in the shape of a pen nib is so cool it reminds me of Victorinox which sometimes uses their Swiss Army knife as a second hand counterbalance.
It ticks all the boxes to make it fit in with Haute horology.
Especially that movement. Wow it’s a beautiful movement
Great choice, beautiful watch, love the complications and movement 👍
Keep up the great content 👏
There is so many things I love about this one. But I’m already surprised with how much I am wanting to wear it.
Beautiful watch! Congratulations
Thanks for WATCHing
Lovely looking watch James, will take a gander at this brand now, thanks to you 😊

It’s definitely not one for everyone. But wow do I love it.
Wow! A very nice piece! The best I could hope for is if Sugess or San Martin see your video too😊
They are making some amazing watches. It would not surprise if they did.
Υou have good taste.

I enjoy sharing my watch journey and it’s great to get such positive feedback.
Thanks for WATCHing
I tried one of these on and decided against it. good video 😊😊
I like mont blanc watches, will get their PC on a bracelet 😊
I’m just drawn to this one. It’s big but wow do I like it.
Thanks for WATCHing
I thought that at the end we would have a shot of your wife in tears at the price. Or perhaps that's just your bank manager. 😂
Hahahahahahah. I did have to sell a few to help pay for this one.
You just bought my grail watch James, that's a keeper for sure!
It was a grail watch that I did not know existed until 6 months ago.
It really is amazing
Hi james nice watch don't no much about this brand but I'll look them up as I like big watches as I have a 215mm wrist size thanks John.
With a wrist that size you would perfectly suit the bigger Montblanc watches.
Thanks for WATCHing
Have you done the full in depth review? Im not able to find it.
Not yet. I’m just waiting on the original bracelet to arrive. Then will do a rather long video for this one. Lots of positive things to say and show.
@WATCHingJames Well, I'm definitely excited to hear your thoughts. Thanks for this video, and hope you're still enjoying it!
It is firmly one of my favorite all time watches. I think I might wear it more than any other in my collection.
I’ve always really liked this one!
Stunning timepiece.
If it had another logo on the dial would cost x2 or x3 the price.
I think so too.
I can already foresee myself getting another from the brand in the future.
I’m really impressed with it.

Awesome thing! Happy new watch day!
Thank you. I’ve had a few of those lately 😁
I've always wanted one, stunning watch!

Wow. That is a stunner James 😮
It is amazing. I love it

Not that I’ve come across.
I’ve only seen one homage to a montblanc and it was not this model.
@@sylvainb.coternbsc.n4896 you might check out Martin design watches. Similar aesthetic but very different watches.

I definitely will be.

What are your thoughts on the Iced Sea?
I’ve handled it twice now and I like it.
It is large. But feels really well made and the dial is great. The caseback is also a stand out feature.
Nice watch. Fits perfect in the world of watch and fountain pen collectors. I myself happen to be one.
I’ve never really been interested in fountain pens but owning this watch makes me want one.
Great, another expensive hobby 😁
Absolutely gorgeous 😍 🔥🔥
I am totally smitten with this one.
👍
👍
Very kool watch… 👍😎
Thank you. I really love this watch. It is soooooo kool.
So how much was it? I am sure viewers would like to know
I ended up paying $4200aud
Lovely piece, James. Much more interesting than the usual suspects.
When I first saw one I had mixed emotions. I loved it and was slightly confused. 😂😂😂😂. But is can already say that I am so happy that I bought one.
Definitely a nice watch 😍
I’m a bit star struck by this one.

Wife says…. You can only buy this watch James if I can do a Cameo.
Hahahahahahaha. It was great to have her feature again in a video.
👍👍

A welcome departure from the aliexpress watches.
It was a big AliExpress week. Definitely time for some other watches now.

WHOAH! Gorgeous watch! What a great looking dial
I’m in love with this one.
