@@AtheistOrphan that's been a major issue lately. I feel like it's mostly scammers that are behind those accounts.
@@Reaperguy67 - I agree. I report them and some (but not all) channels take them down quickly.
@@AtheistOrphan that is very true and you can also hide them as well.
A lot of this situations are not due to bad toys, but stupid parents getting things for their very young children that are actually good for older children (like the magnets). Did you SERIOUSLY think that your 3 year old WOULDN’T try to swallow it? 🙄 That’s on YOU.
That's what I was thinking. Example listed here I saw was the magentics and the 2 year old. This has an age group listed on it and under 6 is not it. I know because I bought this for a 9 yr old and her little brother who was 2 wasn't allowed near them. They weren't allowed out of her room.
They have magnetic toys that are safe for littles. I would have loved to get those for my son now, he's over the boring magnets now. I don't know but I feel like some of these are parents not doing their parenting and teaching your child the right and wrong thing. I'm thinking about that easy bake oven.
Those Overzealous Overprotective Neurotic Self-Righteous Parents are Idiotic, Even George Carlin Addressed it!
The original marketing for this toy was that it was safe for children 3 and up. Even regardless of that, the pieces were so small that often more than one were ingested and the magnets used were so strong they didn't travel naturally through the digestive track, instead they ripped through soft tissue. This tissue damage is what caused so many medical emergencies. So, this toy wasn't just a choking hazard, it was a severe choking hazard because of the magnets. A toy company that markets a toy that poses a severe choking has clearly failed in its legal duty to adequately and vigorously test their product before making it available to consumers. This was a defective toy and no amount of adult supervision will ever stop a defective product from being defective and eventually failing. Consumer laws exist for a reason - to protect consumers from deceptive and negligent product manufacturing , marketing, and sale on the part of businesses and sellers. A parent has a reasonable expectation that any toy marketed and sold as a child's toy does not pose a danger to the welfare of their child should they decide to buy it.
Hey, here's a wild idea: Maybe don't give a magnetic build-it-yourself toy made for pre-teens to your two year old!
While that is absolutely true, have you had kids? Smaller children always want what bigger siblings have, and older siblings are not always really good about cleaning up after themselves.
The problem with that is kids have younger siblings or friends or cousins things like that. While the toys themselves aren’t necessarily bad you can’t count on everyone else being responsible.
I guess the question then is whether or not the the two year old mentioned in the video got a hold of the toy via an older sibling/cousin or if the parents specifically bought it for him.@@cristinesplinis5815
As is my answer to the other comment of a similar nature, I would say that the question then comes down to whether or not the the two year old mentioned in the video got a hold of the toy via an older sibling/cousin or if the parents specifically bought it for him.@@reneeschnarr6260
@@reneeschnarr6260but rather than take responsibility for themselves, the parents blame the companies. They need to use better judgement. If there are younger kids in the house, then either don’t buy it or make sure the little kids aren’t around or the toys are put somewhere safe.
Many of these problems could be solved if parents just watched their kids.
And teaching them to not eat small pieces!
I remember that Harry Potter flying stick fiasco. It was Friggin Hilarious & proved parents now have no sense of humor. 😂
And the hypocrisy is overwhelming.
Parents now like generation based or parents now as in those that grew up with the idea of the toy being discontinued? Cuz like i agree but thats generation based not parents now parents now
Shame Ellen ruined her Reputation, cause she was really funny when she'd make fun of Products (Shake Weight anyone?)
The Harry Potter broom is the broomstick the slutty touhou girls use
Yes! If you have a Sick Mind it is Hilarious 😆😂🤣
The main problem, as I see it, is parental control or supervision and not adhering to the age requirements on the packaging.
Literally them with everything involving kids
Looks like an issue not restricted to video games. Or music. ... Or TV in some cases. Probably even books. Really, a whole lot of things.
I remember the easy bake oven had a "parental supervision" warning in the ad. My mom would not let me use it unless she was with me.
I remember my aunt bought my cousin the Harry Potter broom. Let's just say she sent it right back after catching him having a little "too much fun" with it.
🤭🤭🤭😁😁😁
they can't help themselves huh?
I want one, for educational purposes...
Hummer Potter.
The Harry Potter broom is the broomstick the slutty touhou girls use
Honestly, dolls can help break the ice for parents explaining puberty. Some of these getting banned confuse me as a parent of two girls. It'd make life lessons easier to accept for girls.
On the Teletubbies one, there was also a case where Tinky Winky (the purple one) was reportedly saying "I got a gun"
The Toy Manufacturers explained that he was supposed to be saying "Again Again!"
Harry Potter Nimbus 2000 is about to unlock a chamber filled with naughty secrets.
Agree
I loved magnetix, but I was old enough about 9 at the time to play with them…. Sounds like a parenting issue to me
Yes seeing them just unlocked good memories for me... definetly a parenting issue
Parents want to give their kids toys and just let them deal with it. Like the Easy Bake Oven. My little sister had one but my mom made sure she used it on the kitchen table, not in her room, and under my mom's supervision. No child got burned. I don't get what's wrong with a pregnant Barbie? But then, I'm not offended by everything under the sun. LOL
I’m sad they didn’t mention the Disney Tarzan toy that got recalled for its rather suggestive arm movement it made.
oh yeah
What did it suggest

You know you had a great childhood when you had, played or got hurt by at least 40% of the products in this list.
Good grief!! My daughter had Heelys. Rode those darn tootin things EVERYWHERE 😬
I loved my easy bake oven!!! I'm a Gen X baby and they were awesome back in the day.
My boys had heelys and never fell. I had an easy bake oven too, Gen X. I loved making tiny brownies!
I wanted an Easy-Bake oven when I was a kid but my parents didn't think it was safe.
I myself got a pair of Heelys many years ago, when I was around 10, and not only did I learn to skate, I fortunately didn't suffer from any injuries whatsoever.
Barbie can be anything she wants
I was really annoyed by the "outrage" caused by Black Canary Barbie, because her outfit is comic book accurate, and not only is she a great character, she one of the first female heroes DC had. There was nothing dangerous about her to cause a recall.
A Black Canary Barbie? Now we need a Green Arrow Ken to complete the pair.
It's a classic case of people not knowing she's an established comic character. I assume there are other DC female characters they used that were comic accurate: a Wonder Woman Barbie Doll would generate a lot less backlash because people know who Wonder Woman is despite her classic uniform being basically an S&M uniform.
I remember hearing about not one but TWO other Barbie dolls that created controversy the Catwoman doll that was based on the Halle Berry movie that came out back in the 2000's and this Barbie doll that wore a traditional muslim outfit.
I had enough sense to not have my face that close to those skydancers 😂
On top of that, my little cousin was all of 8 years old when his dumbass swallowed those magnets. They rolled around and connected. One on the outside of the organ and one on the inside and it created a hole. He’s alive and still very stupid.
I remember around the 2006 era of transformers Hasbro was doing an anniversary collection for beast wars
Part of that included new deluxe figures for Optimus, Primal and Megatron. They were also hybrid figures because they could also work with cyber keys from the transformer Cybertron line. Now in robot mode, Megatron gimmick would be the revelation of a hidden missile launcher in the tail, but T-Rex mode. You basically have to shove the key where the sun doesn’t shine, and the missile (which happens to be brown) is revealed. My dad and grandfather burst out laughing at the sight of that… My mother, on the other hand hated that figure. 😅
What about the Burger King Pokemon Poke Balls that were recalled in 1999 and 2000 due to them being a suffocation hazard?
Haven't forgotten that, mind. In fact, the parents who gave the pokeball to their 3 year old didn't just take action (which rightfully resulted in the balls being recalled), they went full boycott mode, even setting up a Pokemon Kills! website, with the tagline "gotta sell 'em all!". As many have pointed out, these people were real karens, and took the opportunity to scapegoat Burger King.
I personally don't see any problem with the Black Canary Barbie, but one that would've been more deserving to be on this list is the Oreo Barbie or the one where Barbie could be shown as being pregnant
What perfect time for Christmas gifting.
Many of these toys needed idiot warnings. Like heelys, sky dancers, magnetix, and others.
Others were just parents getting mad about nothing.
And others were just toys that like anything else had no sexual intention, but was turned sexual once the kids figure out it could be used in a sexual way. Companies can't control what customers do with their products, otherwise many companies would be on the hook for making a "sexualized" product targeted at kids.
The easy bake oven was just a bad idea from start to finish
Kid Danger: *wearing his big trucker pup outfit* what the what now?! The Easy-Bake Oven was the most hated toy that ponys hated?! I used to have a Easy-Bake oven! And nothing bad happened to me! *tears up*
6:15 Favorite toy for adults who don't have anyone to play with.
Lawn darts? Also more post-countdown bloopers please
🤯Wow, some of these toys are truly shocking!🙅♀️
...hiii, Andrea. Your videos make me touch myself.
The easy bake is the most dangerous! I heard that it becomes hot in temperature every second.
I remember the aqua dot’s commercials!! This commercial was sooo satisfying to me for some reason..??
I didn't think any parent would have purchased the dolls that eat😅
Thank you for the update, WatchMojo..!! Cabbage Patch Kids = All my female cousins had them back in the 80s. Some dolls were like Turbo Man in "Jingle all the way (1996)" . 🤣
Cannibal Patch Kids: Play with them with a nice chianti.
Fava beans sold separately.
Jodie Foster FBI action figure also sold separately lol! 😄
I had a sky dancer end up on my roof as a kid
Now I know why Harry was so into quidditch. Naughty 👿 boy!
I used to have that Harry Potter broom as a kid. I thought that whooshing and vibrating feature was stupid. Especially since that when you press it, it only happens for one second and basically, a kid would need to keep pressing it to keep it going. We have it in storage now, but based on how Ellen reviewed it, I don't think anyone's ever going to buy it from us🤣
Still don't get the pregnant Barbie one. Other than the design of the belly coming off seeming a bit creepy I highly doubt it actually encouraged teen pregnancy or made any negative impressions on kids. The growing up Skipper one I get though because it does encourage kids to idolize adolescence but a bunch of tv shows(at least the ones I grew up on) did that too so getting rid of doll seems like the first step of a losing battle.
I agree with just about all the "lack of parental supervison" comments for this video.
I mean, I didn't get my first box of Legos until I was like 9 years old. Years after I had grown out of my "sticking choking hazard in my mouth" phase.
“None of these toys on lease to ah, made your whole year in a week to ah.” The Weeknd
Wheelis in your shoes just weeded out the warriors from the kids who couldnt hang!😂
Amazing video watch mojo,marvellous job.
Ah yes the infamous Harry Potter Broom that wound up in sex shops. I remember hearing stories of older sisters stealing this from their younger siblings to play alone
The broomstick was the most hilarious one🤣
I loved my sky dancers! Even after I got my hair tangled in it and almost scalped myself 😅
I don’t know if they still sell sky dancers. But there is a version with the LOL toy called magic flyers. That’s another accident waiting to happen.
I had a pair of heeleys as a 9 year old, I used to skate around our church. I loved them
The Harry Potter Vibrating stick had me scratching my head,Whoo
I dont think the HP broom was considered dangerous , kids like it too much, lol.
It was because adults had dirty minds. Te issue they were worried about went right over kids' heads
@@nancyomalley6286 well, not all of them
It also didn't help that a newsletter in New York actually rated the effectiveness of the broom as an intimacy toy.
I always thought teletubies were so soo soooo cute 🥺
When did this heelies controversy start. I bought both my boys these in the 2000's. Anyone that didn't expect a fall was delusional. WE GONNA PROTEST BIKES AND ROLLERBLADES TOO NOW.
Don't forget that shoes also promote walking. We can't have kids doing that, they could trip and fall!
Right. I think leaving your kids unsupervised before they are responsible enough to be left alone is on parents. Tell your kids not to put their hand in the oven or chewing dolls. Common sense is dying out.
I never even heard of the Heelys controversy. There were even several students in my high school that zipped around the halls wearing them.
These toys are awesome but the toys can be dangerous as well
'Cause one stupid kid swallowed a toy, we can't have nice things. They should have coated the pieces in something that tastes bad, js
This year in the second grade class I helped out in, I did "Fad Fridays," in which I would tell the kids about trends that happened decades ago. Turns out, not only did they all know about Cabbage Kids, all they wanted to do was talk about the ones that ate fingers.
Aww! No viral clip of that poor little girl who's Sky Dancer flies into the fireplace?! Haha!
I remember Heelys!! I fell hard one time when I was 9!
That moment when it's bad parenting that is truly the cause of these bans / controversies...
Parents just making themselves outraged.
Maybe...just hear me out...maybe don't let three year olds play with toys the size of Advil.
3:44 The saying is "For all intents and purposes" not "For all intense purposes".
The commercial itself for Sky Dancers illustrates the potential problem.
I REMEMBER THESE TOYS!
How about the Rad Repeatin' Tarzan figure?
Skydancers were awesome! I'm GenX and bought them for my kids.
But then I grew up with Lawn Darts so what do I know?
0:54 “Hiles”? 😂
When it comes to Magnetex and Aqua Dots, why were parents giving those to kids so young? 2 Years old, REALLY? That's like giving your toddler a knife then acting suprised when they get cut. No common sense in those parents.
The issue with the Aqua Dots was because the manufacture was cutting corners by using cheaper chemicals to minimize losses at the risk of their customers, it just so happened that kids were the ones mainly exposed to these cheaper chemicals that the results were what they were.
But the Magnetex, I agree with you, %100.
I worked at Walmart when heelies were all the rage. It fucking irritated the shit out of me seeing kids skate around. They didn't even do anything wrong, it just annoyed me.
At 3:45 the guy says "For all intensive purposes" instead of "for all intents and purposes."
Reprimand him harshly.
I feel like if I'm taking a paycheck for saying words I'm saying words correctly
The flying dolls is ridiculous, my mother gave me one when I was little and I'm fine
You're just one of the lucky ones. They struck over 170 people and caused 150 injuries such as temporary blindness, broken ribs, lacerated faces, ect. A lot of children ended up in the emergency room.
This guy is so awesome
What guy?
@@AtheistOrphanThis video’s narrator. He polarizes some people with his VOs, but he’s one of the best. He brings lots of energy.
I've never heard of this guy before. And what is a VO?
@@MentallyBorn80sBabyYoung Deuces has been with WatchMojo for maybe a year or two, and a VO is short for voice-over.
@@MentallyBorn80sBaby - Voice Over.
(looks at thumbnail) Of course, Ellen would promote something like that
Are parents checking out the toys before their kids could play with them? That can't be done all the time
I don't think they thought that through. 😮
What a way to ruin Harry Potter for kids
yeah
I've seen Black Canary Barbie at anime conventions on several occasions ironically it was around 1 to 200 dollars. Gee I wonder what would happened if they made a Wonder Woman Barbie
I think Tobuscus has used Heelys. 2:28 Ohhhh f**k!
6:16 I thought it was recalled because little kids thought it could fly and they hurt themselves.
wait i had that aqua dot toy!!! i broke it when trying to get it out of the packaging...
What about the ones by Disney ? The most infamous example is the Tarzan action figure.
The heelys seem really cool 😎
Change the voice actor and the title, but keep everything else, and there you have it: a "brand new" WatchMojo video. I must have seen this exact video 2-3 times already
When protecting kids from predators is controversial. We had reached the tipping point
We have. That’s why I say it’s a culture problem
And the people defending predators will still brow beat you about morality. It's truly unbelievable. They think telling an offensive joke is more immoral than abusing kids.
What the hell are you talking about? What does this have to do with this video? This is about problematic toys.

Aqua Dots get recalled, but today, Vape is a billion dollar industry.
I absolutely loved my sky dancers
Teletubbies? Uncontroversial? Teletubbies were like Voldemort in my house growing up. My mom was convinced there was some messed up stuff going on there
i played with most of these toys growing up lmao
you can blame the barbie company on that idea most heroes costumes in shows during them years weren't exactly appropriate for kids toys
It's the Sorcerer's Stone in the US
I wanted Heelys so bad as a kid but my Mom & Dad were so overprotective of me they said no you might hurt yourself, years later when my younger sister grew up she got Heelys I was so mad🤣🤣
lol same my grandma used to hate the idea of Heelys and Bella ballerina sketchers which I’m surprised those didn’t make the list
I had that broom. Good times
Number 2 was also known as Cannibal Patch Kids.
My ma would never allow me to get heelys as a kid. Now I’m a size 13…😢
I thought Mortal Kombat 1 might be on here. I remember every kid wanted that.
Why would you give a 2 year old a toy set where the pieces are tiney with magnets.
So I guess parents weren’t the ones that complained about lawn darts?
Heely's is one of those toys that caused outrage, second is Laser Tag the game that is too offensive.
I find it funny they had an issue with the growing up Skipper doll but Barbie was based on a sex doll from the '50s 😂
As a little girl (now nonbinary at 29), I remember heelies.
My daughter Maddie died from SkyDancer
