I always think you're going to say, ''I like backpacks and I can not lie, those other reviewers can't deny." That has to be the most odd(in a good way) build-a-bag that you've featured. I'd definitely forego the laptop(don't have one)sleeve and side grab handle. Two fiddy is out my price range. Thanks for always keepin' it real, in the feel. Aight. One.
Hysterical opening bit. Love the look of the exterior camo and the hi-vis lining but I don't think this backpack is laid out well for my preferences. Always appreciate you laying out the details and showing us the light, George. Thank you!
Hey George, thanks for the review. I purchased this bag exactly one year ago, without watching any reviews (and I think you're the first bag reviewer to make a video about it). Since I live in the EU, it was a little more affordable. I got it black with the cobra buckle and a laptop sleeve. I see that they updated the top handle, as mine just has simple strip of nylon (as you can see on the site), and man I am I salty that I didn't ask about the possibility of changing the inner lining color, so I got the standard gray VX inner liner. I think it's a solid roll top pack, but a big issue I see with it is the bottom half of the back panel being lined in Cordura. That stuff will eat up the bottom of your shirts... Well, it was my first serious bag, and I don't regret buying, and I encourage anybody wanting a high quality roll top to check it out, especially in the EU, as we don't have that many brands who make super high-quality bags like Mixed Works, by hand, and made in the EU. I am waiting for a Greenroom 136 Custom VX42 Rainmaker. It's going to be killer! Stay safe!
Eric Day one of the guys at the Carryology meet up in Hamburg has this pack and got a leathersmith to put a leather “cover” on the bottom of the back panel to avoid the abrasion issue you mentioned. Not only was it a great solution, it looked really cool too!
@@JP-qn4uo Hey James, that sounds interesting. It is, however, a little unfortunate that an oversight needs a workaround. I don't think it's a deal-breaker, as plenty of good and well-loved packs have this issue (see Goruck), even after complaints from customers. Anyhow, in my opinion, the perfect backpack doesn't exist, but I'm glad we can discuss what makes good bags good, and bad bags bad, and hopefully come as close as possible. Cheers!
@@ericday492 I think it depends on how you are using the bag. Maybe more of an issue if you are using it for cycling as opposed to EDC due to the movements associated with cycling?
I first saw this pack on the Perfect Pack Facebook group. It's a great looking pack and I do love the Swedish camo as well. Thanks for the review George.
I have the small version in X-pac and absolutely love it. The backpack straps are some of the most comfortable I've ever worn because of the extra width. Superb construction and design.
Great opening, George. And I'm not lying, I think I have that tie! This bag is pretty cool. My one rolltop bag is a Thule Subterra 34 and the side access absolutely makes that bag work for me. I can get into both the main compartment and the laptop sleeve from the side.
Absolutely best backpack I ever owned, and I owned a few. In the past I had backpacks from Chrome Industries, Mission Workshop, Boundary supply...all the well known heavy-hitters when it comes to backpacks and messenger bags, but the Falcon M from MW tops them all, IMO. Both dollar for dollar and quality/features for quality/features. I won't say much more as many have raved about this pack already, but one just needs to open the laptop compartment and check those internals and materials used in there for extra rigidity and protection, mind boggling. I bought mine 4 years ago when the price was a lot lower, this was however before the company in Poland was 'discovered' by the wider bag community. It's not as cheap as it was but still better than any other at this price point. BTW, I also ordered mine with a Cobra buckle, it definitely gives the black one a more subdued bad-ass look.
Thanks for yet another excellent review, George. I appreciate your clips at the start of each vid, too. Very cool and very funny. A+ for the teacher here.
I use my roll top as my commuter bag when I’m on my motorcycle (Timbuktu cycling bag). I need it to be 100% rainproof. That side zip really destroys the biggest reason to get a roll top bag. If rain wasn’t a factor to consider I’d much rather use a different bag that leaves the contents more accessible. The use case for this bag is weird. And no bottle holder is pretty strange on a modern bag.
@george, considering how much you love hi-viz lining and high quality packs...i'm really shocked that you haven't reviewed any Mountainsmith or Vanquest bags!!!!
Another good review. Very well done filming and editing. You are the bag-man supreme. Thanks for ditching the music in the background. The message is entertaining enough. You should hit the road like Anthony Bourdain and show those bags up against real life all over the world.
Hey George! thanks for your great review. I've had my eye on this pack for a while, and thinking of replacing my Mission Workshop Rambler with this jawn. You didn't get into it in the video, but I've read it's got an "aluminum x frame". What do you think of it? Haven't heard much talk about this pack's suspension system. Also, check out Able Carry! I haven't grabbed any of their packs, but I have their nice smaller Joey and Stash pouches, in mulitcam of course. Good prices, and nice choices of Xpac and Cordura to choose from.
I'm having a hell of a time finding a bag. I need something at least 28L, sternum straps, no internal laptop sleeves, at least 9" thick internal main compartment with outer organizational pockets/compartments, YKK zippers and less than $100. Seems like everything has laptop sleeves which I don't want, they take up room and I don't use a laptop.
@@GeorgeDEFINED basically for daily use, keeping glasses, charger, water bottle,, snacks,, lunch box (insulated soft lunch bag from Costco). Be able to stuff a jacket (light Columbia style). I work noc shift (graveyard) at a hospital so I need to be able to have everything for a long shift with me. A laptop being something I don"t need so that's why I don't want a bag that has a designated spot for one.
New sub here. I really love the fact thatyou're not some 100-pound dude. Whenever you put the bags on I can see what it would be like on a big guy like me. I know it's another video, but is the 5-11 lv10 still your favourite sling pack?I'm in the market right now to buy a decent size 1 and want to make sure that that one's kind of the best right now. I really appreciate your opinion and it really helps me by some good stuff.
The timbuk2 spire laptop bag is better than this in virtually every way and it costs $99 rather than $250. * genuinely rain proof * Water bottle holder * real organization for pens and lights and whatever else with 6 sleeves of different sizes and a zippered compartment * zip pocket on outside near top fit for easy access. * bottle opener on the shoulder strap (silly but some like it) * laptop sleeve with padding * tablet sleeve with padding I know you like wasting money on packs and pouches. But the pack you got was kinda crazy, especially for the price and knowing it lacks so many functional features that you would have to spend additional money to settle.
Hilarious opening skit. You're a pretty good actor and a good editor too. "Chase Reeves," with the close up, it was all really well done!
Killin’ it as usual George; you are my “go to” guy for giving it to us straight. The intro was awesome BTW!! Keep up the great work and be safe!!
The best youtuber for backpacks is you, George !! 🌸
Used it for 2 years still in good condition. Waterproof even in heavy downpours. No worries.

George, have you done any reviews on Tom Bihn backpacks? It would be entertaining to see you review one of them!

I find myself always going back to my GoRuck GR1 no matter what bag I try.
