It was great to meet you at the Gardens! ❤ I'm honored to have made the vlog. I really liked that you used the Heath Ledger Joker to represent the villains, makes me feel like my performance was Oscar-worthy (as a supporting actor)! A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Safe travels home, I hope the vacation leaves you refreshed. Because you know you'll have a lot to do when you get home.... Also, I'm glad you made money. It'll make it easier to justify more visits!
They are not my chips you played with, but when the board double paired when you were on the open ender, that would have been an excellent time to jam and polarize your range. Real tough to call with 10s when your range could easily have a 9 or 7 in it.
Hard to find what pleases everyone. Could try different image each week? Google "villain" then "images", tho you might have done that already. Try "Doctor Evil" from Austin Powers movies ha.
Nice vlog Doug! I like the change of scenery for this video and the previous one. Also I didn't know you played golf! If there is ever a poker vlogger golf scramble I know who I want on my team 😎
Thanks, I do feel my game is more relatable to most people. I also think that many discount my abilities because my main game is 1-3. Trying to find a balance between the two. Appreciate your comment and thanks for watching
GG doug can see some changes in gameplay , but it think you should start betting flops where you flop trips and board is draw heavy ! keep crushing ! 🍻
Great chatting with you at Gardens while you were waiting for your game. You were so gracious, thanks for replacing my lost card protector, I’ll be sure not to lose this one. :))
Thx for the vid. When you had 8 6 suited hearts and flop came 7H 2 H 9 C I was surprised U did not bet flop. Because you sort of had everything locked up. The problem is if U hit the turn and bet most or all will fold.
Yes, your local game plays more like a 2-5 than a 1-3. I was a bit out of my comfort zone to start, but found out I could hold my own and thanks to you learned how to size my bets for these stakes. Love my Sunday morning lesson. Always learning something from your vlogs. Only advice I can give you is avoid sunburn. It causes long range health issues you don’t want to have.
@@politicscommentator because the opening bet is usually $15 or $20, not what you might expect in a 1-3 game. The usual 3 bet is $45 to $60 or more depending on the number of callers.
The dealers in poker tournaments here does a (what looks like) normal Overhand Shuffle. But while the dealer is shuffling they keep track of the cards they want to stack, and with a little practice they can manage to put the exact number of cards in between the cards they want to stack to make the next round of dealing favorable for the whoever they choose.
Good observation! I was watching a tournament table years ago (when rusty was tournament director). A player tabled pocket ACES with an ACE on the flop (for a winning set). As the dealer rounded up the cards ( face down)after the hand, I noticed the dealer KEPT TRACK of the 3 ACES . AS HE ROUNDED THE CARDS up, HE PUSHED THE 3 ACES to the bottom of the deck. Then he proceeded to shuffle the deck keeping a certain stack on the bottom the entire time. I was a cash game house player at the time and payed attention to a lot of factors. Another thing the players do is enter tournaments as a team. (10-15) people collectively as a team dumping chips off to each other and chopping the winnings. If you pay attention during tournaments here, you will see "STUFF" going on. I was surprised WPT officially sanctioned this casino!
I’m definitely check raising to $75 on that 9d6d hand on the turn. Mostly because I don’t want it to be checked down. If he had an ace or any flush draw, he’s probably calling. What would Zeus bet on the river if he called that check raise on the turn? There would be $215 in the pot after a turn $75 check raise. Great Vlog once again!
Doug McCusker Poker.. on the K6spade vs. Q4 spade hand at the 12:15 mark, you stated that he was drawing to the flush draw as you were also but he had a straight 10-A. I hope the dealer didn't push the chips over to you with 2 pair. You did state that he didn't make his flush draw. Did I miss something?
@@dougmccuskerpoker you my guy Doug but it takes balls to moan at the 1 hand the poker gods didn’t bend over for you. Is that the only hand of the vlog that you showed where you lost? Lol I enjoyed it but I like the ones better where you run a little more normal and earn some pots.
QJo: WP! Flop bet size is fine, since spr is medium, and the turn check to induce the river bluff was perfect. I think his stop and go was pretty bad though. AKo: WP again. These players seem to be totally different from your 1-3 batch. People actually make several bullet bluffs. 99: I think you played this fine. On the river, if he has a fh or flush or nothing, go for the money from the hands that will pay off.
Thanks for the feedback, I thought I played well this session. QJo his line didn’t make sense, check raise and then check turn with flush and straight draws on board? Felt like he was drawing.
I don’t like the sizing on the king queen hand with the double barrell bluff 50 on the turn is too small that’s not really a half pot type of card 3/4 to 1.3 pot would be the better size imo especially after the small size on flop

ahahahaha I love how you mentioned that you told me you "missed the flush draw" :D Good playing with you as always, Doug!

I love your vlogs. Thanks for all the work you put into them.
Glad you like them!
Nice trip to LA ...a little profitable poker and Golf ...What a Great Life Doug .
It’s been a good trip but I’m sure I have lots to do when I get back home.

I thought of it, but I believe that his quick call on the turn was telling. Pretty sure he would have called.
Calling with two nines on the board is vastly different than 99 and 77 the range of hands that beats him goes up.
Always enjoyable/ like the addition of faces above players hands 👍
Someone mentioned that my Villian might be too much. 🤷

I’m not as good at golf as I once was, but could be deadly in a scramble format. Hit a few great shots with some shanks thrown in. Lol
I really like all your blogs and especially your narrative.

Yeah, I am curious why the local 1-3 games almost play like 2-5. Anyone care to explain why?

5-5 game at HG is juicy! Did u golf across the way @ El Dorado park?
No, my friend lives in Orange County, played there.
I like your play Doug
Thanks Roman
Did you golf somewhere within proximity to the Gardens? Didn't recognize the background.
No, it was in Costa Mesa
Which is better for you, blocker bets or sun block?
I need both!
Good video, man. Any plans to play at the Bike?
Not this trip, the games at The Gardens were good and closer to where I was staying
I want to see you at the live at the Hustler someday

@@dougmccuskerpoker when it was Live at the Bike, the main game was 5-5 $1000 cap. Hardly anybody did watch until the games got bigger.
Is this a 600 max buy in, or is the most a player can lose in one hand $600? I’ve played in games that are pot capped so curious
$600 max buy in, but stacks get deeper as night goes on.
I usually buy in for 400 - 500 also. No reason to buy in for 600.
I like easy to track numbers, 500, 1000. I do my add ons the same way
The gardens used to be a circus tent
Where did you learn to play poker? The GARDENS ? The tent
I’ve been playing for a long time, but only recently played in so cal casinos. I’ve been grinding nor cal casinos 30 years.
The Garden is the best place for 5-5 no limit!
If you get hot, you can win big.
There are always 4,5 tables running!

Doug you use half pot way too often lol
You are probably right, need to size up more
By the way 600 is a round number. Also 600 is barely enough for a 1/2 in Texas where I am at.
The 1/3 in Sacramento plays like Texas, the 5-5 and 5-5-10 at Gardens play very shallow. I’m just use to buying in for $500 or $1000.

That 5-5-10 game is stupid w/ the bomb pot. Super Stupid!!!
That game has more gamble and less poker.
Is this a joke? This guy runs hotter than sun, flopping sets , 2 pairs, making every draw lol. This can’t be real life poker
