You might get it soon. Mine just randomly showed up. No warning. Last I knew I was hearing January. Then I saw October again while on my trip, next day I received it.
I think you have made a good point. Fully battery electric pickup trucks do work exactly as they are advertised. The competitive choices between OEMs in 2024 is good for the consumer. (Where is the RAM REV?) The choices in the truck market are personal and each to their own. I am a SEV RST FED owner, because that works for me. Ford offers good value to their customers, and I agree the F150 Lightning has a solid place in this market. And I agree this is an excellent time to shop the market for one as it suits your situation. The EV pickup truck market is starting to chip into the ICE market share more and more every day, and that is a good thing.
Thank you for watching, and I agree that EV trucks are chipping away at the market share. I’m curious too about the RAM REV. However the large battery that Chevy and GMC have make there’s pretty appealing. I always think of trucks as tools. Whatever tool you need for the job, so whatever suits you best that’s what you should get (EV, Hybrid, Gas or Diesel)
They may not be canceling it, but they need to find a way to make it more affordable. Yes, great truck, but manufacturing is the challenge. Cannot continue to take losses, year after year. I'm pulling for them. It's a great truck.
@@Nate_G_SD all trucks are expensive these days it seems. My Lightning cost me less than the hybrid F150 would have cost. But I’m not sure Ford made much money at the price I paid so yeah, they need to get their costs down. Batteries and electric drive components should start to get more affordable soon though one would think.
I love my Lariat too. You had to pay for BlueCruise after 3 months right? Also do you have onboard scales and a little sprayer that pops out to wash the front camera on the ford emblem? I have a 2023 so I’m just trying to double check that I’m giving the proper information to people and what was specified on the Ford site ended up being correct.
I love my 2023 Lariat Lightning, and cannot complain about it. In my area, near Austin, TX I’m starting to see more Lightnings about town but of course there’s more Cybertucks around due to the Gigafactory is just down the road. But I also see a bunch of Rivians in my neighborhood. So EVs trucks in Texas are growing which is a good sign. I get stopped at least twice a week at the store about somebody asking me how do I like my Lightning and will tell them everything good about it. I do have the Ford charger installed in my home with a power bypass in case we have another long power outage which the Cybertruck and Rivian do not have. For me that was the biggest seller on the Lightning.
That’s awesome. Yeah Texas is truck country, so I’m not surprised to hear that you are seeing a lot of them. How much did it cost you for the home integration system?
@ back then ford included the charger but it was another $8,000 to put in the switchable backup system. I priced out the Sun Run system and it was like an extra $15;000. That’s way too much so I went with a friend of mine whose a licensed electrician and we came up with a cheaper version.
That’s awesome that you have gotten to tow that much. Just curious, cause I like to ask people what is your average range when towing? I hear everything from 1.0mi/kwh to 1.7 mi/kwh
I too love my lightning brother. But my truck that I paid $78,000 for less than a year ago, is only worth $46,000 now. That absolutely kills anything that I was looking to do with Ford through the electrical vehicle.
Yeah I hear you. It’s tough when the values take a hit. I’m in the same boat, but I think I paid a little over 80 for mine. The good news is that we got to be some of the first to enjoy them. I’m planning to just keep mine as long as I can and I guess after 10 years the hit to the value doesn’t seem as bad. The other way I was thinking about it is that I’m saving about 4K per year in gas and maintenance so that helps a little :-)
@ I shouldn’t single out Americans. What I should have said is that nobody can read past a headline and what counts as journalism these days is pretty sad.
In my area, one problem is they have almost all white ones on the lots, and the range isn't good. Personally I think they should have made a Maverick EV first.
White looks nice too. Maybe with so many you might get an even better deal. Just keep in mind the range you need. I always recommend the extended range battery.
@@F150LightningMike Yeah I just don't like white vehicles, and all the dealers in my area have nothing but white. I guess I could have one shipped. I have a Tesla and a 4Runner and after driving the Tesla want to replace the 4Runner with an electric. I like Fords so am open to the Lightning.
You can do a nationwide search on autotrader and see what deals are out there for the one you want. Just make sure they are being straight forward with you about whether or not their discount includes the federal incentive. Some of them here in Colorado will say you get a 15k discount, but really on 2,500 is from ford the rest is state and federal tax break. Sometimes your local dealer can get one off of another Ford lot too.
I love my lightning lariat. IMO the Ford dealers need to do MUCH more to sell these. And I don't think they need to spend much money to do this. But my suggestions to fell on deaf ears at my dealer. And as I have said before they make a terrific emergency "survival" vehicle. A real shame that Ford has frittered away their first mover advantage.
I wouldn't mind if they did cancel the current generation of Lightning if it meant that the next generation would come sooner. BTW, still waiting on my adapter since August.
Slowing down production of the units aren’t gonna be some kind of magic bullet to start making people purchase the trucks. That makes no sense. They’re slowing down production because these things don’t sell for numerous reasons reliability reasons, outrageous sticker price. The range is crappy in winter in the Wisconsin winters. If you want to drive a pickup truck IN TOWN in temperate weather ok, but then you can hardly use them like a conventional Pickup. Towing, off road, ect.
Good point. Slowing down will really just help them get rid of what is on the lots while not adding more to the lots. So I think it will help them get caught up as the plan to release the 2025 models. As far as range mine gets about a 10% hit but it does pretty well.
Please explain the reliability concerns you have. Mine is 2 years old and has yet to have a single issue/problem. Don’t miss the >$100 oil and filter changes at 5K miles as ICE vehicles need. 10% range loss cold Colorado as Mike has tested.
I agree. Oil changes & maintenance is crazy high for ICE vehicles. I’ve only had to replace tires, rotate tires, replace windshield wipers and add washer fluid :-)
It needs to be canceled. Given the amount of people that have submitted lemon law claims, and how Ford is fighting each and everyone of them despite the overwhelming evidence, Ford needs to give up and start over on this vehicle or cancel it entirely.
@@gregcoad9153 my own personal experience with a 2023 F150 lightning that is currently in lemon law litigation and the documents that we have received to the litigation discovery process prove what I am saying. But I don’t have to prove anything and you don’t have to either.

They keep delaying mine as well. Now it’s coming by the end of this month. I’m hoping it does. Other than that I love my truck.
