I loved the re-imagined 80s dress because it was different, and I thought it incorporated new elements on the design, too. The sentimental value was big for me. I liked the first dress but it wasn't unusual. The bride buy both - wear one at wedding and the other the reception.

Not a hard decision in my opinion.
The “borrowed” dress….. the remake of her mother’s dress…… is absolutely Stunning!
And it has what no other bridal gown has…… sentimental value.
    First…. It’s a custom original
Second….. it’s her moms dress….. which her grandmother purchased.
That’s a win, win, win…… in my opinion.
    Love it❣️

Well said. The new dress IS basic. The way that the new dress is viewed today is the same way that people viewed the mom's dress in the 80's. In other words, won't stand the test of time. It'll look dated in a few years. The borrowed dress was stunning and with meaning. Reminds me of Grace Kelly style.
BTW, I'm in my 20s but appreciate good fashion even if it's from the 50s.

It's a beautiful dress she chose and her borrowed dress was stunning as well. But she is surrounded by love and she knew she would be supported which is why she chose the dress that was hers and only hers. The reasons she loved the borrowed dress was for the sentimental value and those people who made it so valuable were there hugging her in the new dress. She's so blessed with such a beautiful loving family. ❤️

They literally handing it over hoping that she would wear it bc most of time the daughter wasn’t going to wear it regardless. Her mother knew that it would be changed and doesn’t change the fact that it would be stuck in dam storage most likely forgotten. Once in awhile they will choose it but the mother knew the risk. I mean It’s your choice to hand it over or you can keep shit but you shouldn’t let it control you. Cherish the moment and memories move forward. End of the day they are objects that will fade but you can appreciate it while moving forward.

The new dress made her look like a show-girl--no illusion there! Also, the mermaid style is a bit overdone, as in common. She made the wrong choice; a wedding is not a “sexy” event. A marriage is a forever commitment between the husband and the wife but it ALSO combines families. Carly’s grandmother chose Carly’s mother’s wedding dress. This beautifully re-fashioned gown retains essential elements of the original dress and would be a way to include her deceased grandmother in the wedding. If she wants her husband to cry as she walks up the aisle, this would be the right choice. I, too, hope she re-considers. Here’s a thought. She could be married in the elegant gown (which cost less than 1K in alterations) and buy the new gown for her reception and party. A win-win!

They should just make entirely new gowns based off the old ones while preserving the vintage dress.

What a disappointment! What a shame.
That borrowed dress was my favorite, my #1 dress to date. I've never wanted to be any other age before than the age I am, but I'm telling you what: if I were 25 again, I'd rock that borrowed dress. Rock. It.
    Time to hit rewind!

Zandra Rhodes. Of course. That second dress is very Zandra Rhodes. This will not surprise you: I got married in Zandra Rhodes. I always like the same thing!

She is beautiful in both, but Iwould have choose the borrowed. Marriage is for life, her parents has been married 25 years, good karma is important .

I like the new dress. Personally i liked her mum's dress in its original form and not the redone one even though i wouldn't personally want to wear the original style. Too 80s lol
