Nice work Zorpy! I've been painting large batches (100+ models) for years so here's some quick tips that I'd change in your process; 1. Put the same poses on a single stick (like Luke did), it's a bit unwieldy at the start but once you get the hang of it, you'll really speed up. Picking up models and putting them back, finding the part to paint, that makes for a lot of downtime overall. 2. Get a more shallow wet palette, not having to reach in will increase your control. 3. Use a colour primer or zenithal primer, it will cover mistakes more easily. 4. Really do all the same colour in one go. It's hard but more efficient and gives a good level of satisfaction when doing it in one session. 5. Use your best brush for the job, and the bigger the better for more paint in the body.
Just my 2 cents, great work mate!

For those looking to build their own Vostroyan army, but can't/don't want to dole out for vintage metal models, there is a third party alternative: Wargames Atlantic.
Their "Les Grognards" boxes (a regular infantry box and a Command + Heavy Weapons box) have all you need to fill out a foot-slogging army. Complete with plenty of special weapons, medic and banner options, special heads for commanders, laspistols and chainswords and power fists, four kinds of heavy weapons (basically, all you need to build everything except rocket launchers), and six different standard head options (three kinds of headwear, in both bare face and gas mask versions, and that's just in the standard box).
They're not quite as ornate as the original Vostroyans, but they're not too shabby sculpts. Both boxes are $35 each (with increasing discounts for buying in bulk), and the infantry box has 24 models. It's a great deal.

What a mammoth effort. Shame you couldn't get them all done, but for such special miniatures it's best not to rush. The Tandaris Outbreak campaign is the absolute pinnacle of White Dwarf for me, I dream of doing a narrative campaign like that one day. Blood Ravens, Vostroyans... dude, we have the same taste in armies. This was an incredible challenge, and though the going was tough, you seriously performed admirably, especially considering your choice of troop! They look great, man, even with just a base coat and a wash, and I can’t wait to see the full dream force. Cities of Death was always my favorite era (I got in at 3.5, right on the cusp of that beautiful 4th edition rulebook), and seeing these guys again after so many years is heartwarming. Great work, and now I’m on to catch Luke’s version! (Another love of mine was browsing the old bits catalogues, so I’m very familiar with the Praetorian Guard as well).

Oh yea man its absolutely paralyzing and it takes all the fun right out of it and makes it a very stressful mess. My worst thing is I'm so afraid that I'll find a better scheme or color or technique halfway through an army and then want to do that so I spend more time painting old beat up test models than I do on my actual army. The only reason I keep going is because I know once I finally have the confidence to push forward and continue that thats when it becomes really enjoyable. Just all the second guessing and indecision is pure toxicity.

We also had our own White Dwarf here in Germany, made up of translated articles from the British magazine and stuff that was written exclusively for the German speaking market.
But it was 80% translated British articles, I think.
I think the best stuff was done around the time the Hordes of Chaos book for 6th edition was published. There were so many cool ideas for Chaos Spawns, the whole Path To Glory thing, the Carnivale Of Chaos for Mordheim... and just so many cool Chaos armies from GW employees.
I started playing Warhammer during the 5th edition and continued all the way through to 8th, but I'd say nothing can beat the 6th edition.

Only watching this now but it is great 😁 next time slap down the basic colours then use oils to blend everything. What takes many minutes with acrylics and alot of knowledge and practice can be done in seconds with oils with little practice. I love oils ha I use them more and more. I am also trying to find old and decent condition third edition Chaos and the eye of terror campaign. I first got into minis with third edition (my friend got it we played so much I was 10 he was 11) third edition starter set is still the best set to this day with 5th edition right behind it (still have everything from that even the old ruler sticks in the box ha)

Dude, do yourself a favour and get a wet palette container that is shallower. You are working yourself to death dipping so deep. I sacrificed size to get a shallow one which is about an inch deep. I also use a dense sponge rather than the super wipes you have. It seems to control the water in the pan better and allows me to control the water on top of the paper. All tips from guys like you so consider this a forward pass from dudes wiser than me. As an aside, have you tried to get a dedicated wet palette? All the suppliers in Sydney say they stock them but no one has one to sell, even on line.
