Just awesome! I travel through for business along those narrow roads in south LA and see people parked roadside but always curious to what they were catching. In Oct to Nov there seem to be more people it seems, just the right temp to be outside. Two pounds of live shrimp from the road side is good any day, been a while since I have seen a live shrimp myself.
Hey great video! Proof that people dont need to ever be hungry in America and that nature always provides. All I would add is a can of peas. Thats good eating right there and pretty inexpensive. Keep up the videos friend.
That looks delicious you made me hungry Thanks again for another awesome video I really enjoyed it and as always I'm really looking forward to seeing the next video
dont want to sound crazy, but this video proves that we dont have to sit and complain about high food prices, when with just a little effort, we can provide for our families...great video
I fish a lot and provide quite a few people with free fish. .... I fish in creeks and rivers in Alabama and no one has ever gotten sick from fish I've given them.
Just a question. When you used your net to cover one end of the culvert, why didn’t you throw a rock in the other side to scare everything thru the culvert into your net? Even better once you covered the culvert on one side have a buddy go to the other side and start beating the water with a stick to drive many many thru.
That was one heck of a haul! Nice to see the difference in against/with the current and dip net vs cast. End result looked delicious!! Nice to have a date night with your wife!!!
Ran across your video today, sounded interesting, so I gave it a go. Fantastic job man, very entertaining and informative. The cooking was an unexpected treat as well. I watched this at 8 o'clock in the morning and now I want some shrimp and crab pasta so bad. Excellent work my friend, it was liking an old friends video.
I'm surprised you don't use one of those little red plastic peeler/deveiners for your shrimp. Looks like you just peeled them by hand and left the veins in. I grew up on a creek in SC, so it's not a big deal, but the shrimp are a bit grittier leaving the veins in. Either way that seafood pasta salad looked delicious.
You could have caught more shrimps if you pushed your dip net right on to the weeds. That's where they are clinging. I used to do a lot of this kind of fishing in my village in the island of Borneo.
Hey Jared ,I wanted to tell you I was given a bag of Louisiana wild caught Shrinp🎉. When I opened the bag they smelled so fresh! I am blessed Whoo Hoo❤. I agree, get in those side pockets. You hit the Shwimp Pot honey hole👍. Hi Milo👋. I'll try a cold salad with mine, but ,but but no Crab😢. Thanks Guys. JO JO IN VT 💞
It’s funny out of all the prepping videos I have seen, nobody ever says shit about learning how to use a cast net which would probably be one of the best things you could ever do for your own survival. Trust me I’m a ninja with a net.
Brother you ought to try using just one herb, butter and oil, and a dash of salt(depending on the herb), and a dash of black pepper. You caught yourself a fine meal. Less is more. Rock steady.
So jealous I have to say this, next time pour the pasta into the shrimp and keep all that good sauce in the pan from the shrimp. You got my mouth all watery😂😂😂
One of my old aunts down at the end of bayou Terrebonne kept a seine at the end of her dock which was about 10 yards out. When we would visit she would wade out from the dock with her seine and what ever she caught she would cook. Seems to me a child it all went into a pot of boiled eggs with a roux/tomato sauce and voila dinner was served. Fish shrimp crabs it all went into the pot. Definitely an acquired taste😊
I would definitely look into the Louisiana fish consumption guide for locations and toxicities. Simply put, roadside fish are definitely more toxic than most. Now then, some people don't care because it's not something that you can taste. But if I'm going to ruin my liver, dammit I'm going to do it the right way.
Another awesome video. Nothing wrong with that having a little fun while catching dinner. I take the crabs and the shads and smash them up and throw it in the water where you casting at works pretty good.
I really like where you live. You must be on the coast somewhere. From the accent, sounds like LA. Must be nice to catch lunch anywhere. I thought you were crazy to put Italian dressing on shrimp, but then you brought in the pasta. Shrimp and crab pasta salad looks nice. I was missing veggies in there, but I'm sure it was good all the same.
The shrimp are really in this year it’s crazy maybe the drought or heat wave I don’t know, but it’s been great to catch them. Great video man! And I will certainly try that dish you made! Kelly
When we were kids we would catch a lot of crawdads with an old door screen (nettin’) We would catch ‘em the ditches or the cow pastures but Florida so crowded and polluted now.
I love watching you do this. However it makes me really envious because I live in northeast arkansas and I cannot catch Shrimp and crab instead I would probably Catch meadows and bullheads
I do catfish...once the fish coated..i spray with Avocado oil...They will be crispy..I use a ninja, front loader ..try hotter temp .just seat of the paints cooking
Nice wholesome family video mate. Here in Australia we'd probably be harassed by the cops and fisheries. Car parked incorrectly, licence, and rego check, Fishing licence(s), exceed catch limit, out of season, not allowed species, crab net , casting net too big,, too small.
Pro tip: add dried herbs to butter and saute for a bit BEFORE adding shrimp to the skillet. This "blooms" the herbs to bring out their flavors more than adding dry to the already cooking shrimp.
To me it seems like you’re going to have to go faster with the current than against the current. Is that efficient? I know the current is pushing the boat but is that enough to make a difference?
After further thought I think it would be more efficient to go a little faster with the current. Than to power up to get ahead of the shrimp and turn back against the current.
Wish I could make you a rectangular pull net on a long pole (8-10’). Ya reach out as far as you can let it sink to the bottom and rake it in. Basically a drag net on a stick 😋
Keep doing what you do. Always a really good showing of what south Louisiana is like.
Thank you brother enjoyed talking to you
Those little shrimp make a tasty Shrimp spaghetti. 👍 enjoyed the video. 👍🇺🇸🙏
Thanks my friend I love shrimp spaghetti
Awesome Jared but the only thing bout watching your videos is they make me hungry
I understand thats the goal lol
Your cooking assistant is a ham for the camera. Love it! God bless you and your family
😊 thank you
Awesome job catching dinner. The pasta and shrimp combination looks great.
Louisiana has some wonders for picking and fishing. thanks outside the levees for these great videos.
Glad you like them!
What a smart and aware little kid. Good stuff bro
Thank you!
This is awesome!! My kids love catching shrimp and crabs on the roadside that’s why Louisiana is such a unique place…living off the land.
Amen. Get out there soon!

But if everyone who needed food went fishing in the ditches, there would likey be little left.
And while occasionally eating fish from such a source isn't too bad, doing it regularly would probably be a health hazard.
"hey, let me see your license"
"those arent keepers"
"you went over limit"
"pay this fine"
"im confiscating your rod, net and bucket"
just like everything else on the internet, people simply miss the point...
I fish a lot and provide quite a few people with free fish. .... I fish in creeks and rivers in Alabama and no one has ever gotten sick from fish I've given them.
I love that net. You could take it in your suitcase when on holiday.

Awesome video. You will not starve shrimp and crabs will do just fine.
Just found your channel. I dig your style of finding the little treasure holes. West coast fisherman here.
Thanks for the sub!
I need to try something like that with my kids. Catch or no catch, they would love the adventure!
Man just try to go when tide is running you will def catch something
GREAT IDEA!!! 👍
KEEP YOUR PROMISE!!!🤞
New subscriber here. I watch fishing videos and love to catch and cook right where I am. You’re the kind of UA-camr I’ve been looking for. Well done

we got something coming like that soon. dont want to do it all in same video need to milk it while shrimp are running
@@OutsidetheLevees we were down in Reggio Saturday throwing the castnet caught a little over a half a ice chest of shrimp
That was a very cool video, I've never seen anyone do that before.
Thank you always trying something new

Great show keep up the good work be safe my friends God bless all
Leo, thank you so much for the kind words. God bless

Low river
@@OutsidetheLevees guess because of drought
Not many shrimpers are out.
Any shrimp is a good shrimp 👍
I just got done eating and you made me want to eat again with that dish you made.
Awesome video Jared!
That place is loaded ❤❤

We would catch ‘em the ditches or the cow pastures but Florida so crowded and polluted now.

Welcome aboard thank you!

Great video. What's that hand net you have? we have a pond out back and my son would love that.
Your son is adorable!!!!
Nice one, yet there would be some large fish feeding on thse shrimp at some placce,....
One thing about people from Louisana is they all seem to be very good cooks!
Lol thats mostly true thank you
What is that net you throw called?
Edit: nvmd you mention later on that its a 6 ft cast net. Thx
You throw that cast net like a pro!!!!
Thanks podnuh
I do catfish...once the fish coated..i spray with Avocado oil...They will be crispy..I use a ninja, front loader ..try hotter temp .just seat of the paints cooking
great video. lot of work but good results where are the shrimp coming from. what is their source
they come all the way in from the gulf of mexico over the course of their lifespan
Where you buy that cast net?
Nice wholesome family video mate. Here in Australia we'd probably be harassed by the cops and fisheries. Car parked incorrectly, licence, and rego check, Fishing licence(s), exceed catch limit, out of season, not allowed species, crab net , casting net too big,, too small.
I love pasta salads. I buy bulk tri color pasta and buy packets of Zesty Italian for 69 cents. 👍
What kind of net is that I really like it and wouldn't mind getting 1 for myself the first net btw
Pro tip: add dried herbs to butter and saute for a bit BEFORE adding shrimp to the skillet. This "blooms" the herbs to bring out their flavors more than adding dry to the already cooking shrimp.

Go back and watch my commercial shrimping video from last year all against the current

that could work
Great video man
So… are there shrimp in ditches consistently, or only certain times of the year?
Seasonally.
So huge US.
Love US.
One day we will arrive😂
Thro the big net please 😂😂😂😂
most places it is very limited what you can legally keep by cast netting?
And make sure to cook some butter 😂😂😂
What highway is that ditch next to
Looking good. Im gonna have to get you back on the podcast soon.
It even LOOKS dope. Leave out all them different packets and plastic jars that just smuggle in more salt and poisons. Less is more.
I would have used some of the shrimp to catch something bigger. Any Snook in the area?
Are you ringo star ⭐️
Lol 😝
Lecker, Lecker !!😋
Great video! Try walking the net down the bank making like 20-30ft drags. You’ll do much better
Also, cans of dog/cat food with a few holes punched in works great for chum. Just be sure to tie a string around it so we don’t litter 😅
Coming soon!
Little too steep to walk the banks and they will get out if you hold it down that long. Maybe a net with a longer tail. Still a prototype on this one.
Are these waters safe
We do this very same thing in the very North, East, but we're after smelts!
Brother as always love the videos I need them shorts where did you get them
You can get both at store.mossyoak.com use my code "OTL20" for 20 percent off. Thanks my friend

where is this, how do u find crabs in ditch
Another fun adventure.
Good hunting! Is is saltwater?
Wow you can just get shrimp from a ditch drain? I really am wanting to be more proficient at sourcing my own food, this is fascinating.
Cool video. Just found u and subbed
where were you when you did this?

Looks like a beaver brook. but its in lkkouisiana so its a swmp..but there is plenty of life in all these water hoels if they are there all year.

Easy catches. Too much many shrimps and fishes.
Is that fresh or salt water?
