This was a great discussion and something I’ve been dealing with lately is the fear of sharing my testimony. I have struggled with porn addiction since I was 12 and it’s been months since I have looked at it but I know that can creep back any second if I happen to take my eyes off of the lord!

Happy that you’re getting victory over that and it’s important to share because so many people do struggle with porn specifically and need the hope you could share with them (the blood of Christ and the word of your testimony).

When we focus on sacrifice, we sacrifice ourselves instead of focusing on forgiveness which accentuates our holiness instead of our sins.
"If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent."
    Forgiveness is our cure.

How damaging when the call is to repent of our sin, put off the old self and yield to the Holy Spirit who 100% fills regenerate born again believers. Allie, I have a very important conversation this Sunday with someone I’ve been witnessing to. She has been receptive so far with what I’ve told her, however her recent question is a little sensitive and I was wondering if you had an old episode covering it.
    The question:
hi beautiful friend ❤️. Something i’m struggling with today. I had to do an online learning course about workplace violence (i had been putting it off but deadline is friday now lol). I’m having trouble getting through it without crying my eyes out. I’m so angry with the state of this country. what happened yesterday in Tennessee to those innocent children and teachers is making me question what I am trying to except in to my life. how do you not question if there is a God when such horrific things like this happen to the innocent? I get that the person responsible for killing them must not have lived for Jesus and maybe that’s how we justify that but those children and those teachers, I have to think since it was a christian school that Jesus was in their every day lives. I just feel really conflicted on why people suffer in the world if they them selves lead a life to serve him. I know this is heavy so if you want to talk on the phone I can make time this week. Love you❤️
Any scripture or if you have an episode that may cover this topic would be so helpful. Thank you

Loved the conversation. Absolutely, we’re not enough… sanctification is a process… etc.
Gotta ask, though where does the Bible say that “the faith that it takes to pick up the tickets [to heaven] is actually a gift”? THE faith is a gift, of course. Our Christian faith wouldn’t exist without God predestining salvation history. But we’re individually saved by grace *through* faith. Grace is the gift, faith is our response. “Picking up” or receiving the grace of God is totally possible to anyone since He’s made the offer. Then starts sanctification 😊. Which is of course also of grace.

    • @samanthanichole6096
      @samanthanichole6096 Рік тому +2

That question is a whole can of worms that Christians have disagreed over for a long time. 😂I’m not sure how familiar you are with the Doctrines of Grace, but in order to understand faith as a gift, you have to understand total depravity. In Romans 3, Paul, quoting from Psalm 53, says “no one seeks for God”. The Calvinist perspective is that we are dead in sin (Ephesians 2) and will not choose to put our faith in Christ without a work of the Holy Spirit- dead men with hearts of stone will never have faith. They will never pick up the tickets. So, the Holy Spirit must regenerate us first (give us the ability to pick up the tickets) before we can place our faith in Christ.
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:4-5)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)
“And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.” (Ezekiel 36:26-27)
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.” (John 6:44)
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” (John 15:16)
“For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.” (Romans 8:29-30)
None of these scriptures explicitly say that faith is a gift, however, they clearly show that God is doing all the work in salvation.
I hope this helps answer your question even though it’s not a clear cut answer! ☺️

Thanks for the answer, and or course I’m completely agreed those verses are true. Though we may not totally agree on how they flesh out given the rest of the scriptures.
I’m familiar with the doctrines of grace. Though I’m not Calvinist, and never was even when I went to a Baptist church with some. I think they get plenty correct and take plenty too far. A great example is Original Sin doctrines. Original Sin is absolutely biblical and correct. But saying we’re born guilty, or *totally* depraved is not. We’re born affected by the original sin, not guilty of it. And born into Adam’s family with a fallen nature and needing to be “born again of water and spirit” into the family of God. Any fallenness, and any depravity will do to be born with broken communion and needing God’s grace. Doesn’t have to be total. And the Bible never says that.
Also, I’m totally agreed salvation is totally of God. Start to finish. Our “part” if you even want to call it that, is just to not harden our hearts and reject His offers of grace. How many times does the Bible say exactly that, especially in Psalms. “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” That’s not us saving ourselves though. The not fighting God on saving us doesn’t have to be a gift too for God to get the credit. He already gets the credit, He worked out salvation history and offers grace, all of Him. Us having to not reject Him just means God doesn’t force anyone. That would NOT be loving. He respects our free will choices.

@@GratiaPrima_I don’t mean to sound rude, but why did you ask the question if you knew the Calvinist perspective? I am very aware of the arguments against Calvinism and spent several years trying to understand various perspectives on soteriology (and am still open to hearing different perspectives). I acknowledge that some scriptures appear to teach we have a choice in salvation, however, I believe the totality of scripture teaches that God is sovereign in salvation and that we have no part in it. I provided a lot of scripture and you didn’t interact with them. The Psalm you quoted is also quoted in Hebrews in a warning about perseverance. I believe it is consistent for scripture to warn about rejecting the truth while also teaching that it takes a work of the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth and persevere us to the end. I am completely open to being corrected, by scripture. I am just now realizing you are Catholic, so we would probably have much more fundamental disagreements than the Doctrines of Grace 😂.

genuinely wondering where in scripture that she sees that. That’s why I asked. Haven’t actually heard even a Calvinist say even accepting the gift has to be a gift given. Then does accepting that gift need to be a gift also? How far does this go?
Yes, I’m Catholic now. 😊 You might be surprised, like I said we’d probably say Calvinist get quite a bit fairly correct. Just take things too far to places scripture doesn’t. Again, like Original Sin. Or also that the Holy Spirit has to move first for regeneration to take place, absolutely true. But that doesn’t mean it has to be irresistible. Or that it’s only for some. Those are places the Bible doesn’t take the true teaching that God moves first and is the author and sustainer and finisher of salvation.

@@GratiaPrima_ again, I would point to the scriptures I put in my original comment and read them in their context ☺️. I wouldn’t necessarily explain it the way Allie did. Rather, I would say that we will never want the gift until we are given a new heart. “No one seeks God” (Romans 3:11). I just wanted to add, because I forgot to say it in my last comment, that this idea that God “forces” salvation is so strange to me. If I force a heroin addict kicking and screaming into rehab, am I not being loving? Maybe they spit in my face, but afterward they realize they had a problem and were going to die without me, is that not loving? This illustration obviously fails in some aspects because nothing can truly illustrate how Jesus took the wrath of God for us and his righteousness is now ours, but I think it makes my point. God is love (1 John 4:8), so whatever he does is loving.

When we do stuff we do not want to do it is the body of sin we have that comes forth without being tempted first. It is a deed of the body, not a concious choice we make.
Conscious sin is the wrong choice in time of temptation. Our mind wants to do the good, but the sin in our flesh fights against.
But if l have a temptation prior to falling...l fall in sin by choice.
With no temptation l do a deed of the body of sin. That is not a fall by choice.

Sin is carnality, flesh itself, humanity, people. We were created in both the image and in the presence of God. When sin entered into the lives of A&E, that was the beginning of carnality for the purpose of being fruitful, to multiply: and that is very much carnal. It was planned and purposed by God from before creation. It was the opener for this creation process...So, how can you get away from it; how does a fish stop swimming? We are born again by his Spirit, to become as He is. We say "Jesus, more of you and less of me". That's the goal. It happens when we surrender to his Spirit and will, daily, for the process/journey to take affect for change. As we walk with Jesus, emulating our teacher, in understanding of what his Spirit imparts to us to behave "in the Spirit" and not of our worldly, carnal nature. It's by him alone, and not any intentionality or focus, or any other mental attempt. It's only by his Spirit making us the sons and daughters of God. By My Spirit says the Lord. Take in Jesus and the human will change; the world will see it, and there will be separation. Then the persecution begins. If you're "successful" and "prospering in happiness" and not being persecuted, then you are still too carnal and comfortable as Christian. Who has been told that they're in the club with nothing to worry about. Carnal and wicked in mind bc they don't have the full truth. That has been one of the Church's errors, regarding itself. Churchianity en mass, instead of individual walk and relationship with your Father, Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ. You need to KNOW him to get in; otherwise you lose. It's all about him, and much less about you. Amen. And you means me. So then the question is, how much knowing? It's relative to time and effort, not attendance. It's how much you grow, to gain knowledge of good; verses your carnal flesh gaining evil. What fruit do YOU grasp, in your desire.
